Yeah... I've been fully vaccinated for over 5 months so I have no personal dog in this fight, but it's a bit disconcerting how we went from "we encourage everyone to get vaccinated" to "get vaccinated or lose your job". Per Biden's speech there will be no testing option for federal workers or people working for companies that are subcontractors working for the government. You get poked or get fired.

Also the way "the vaccinated" seem to talk about those not vaccinated in mainstream circles is eerily reminiscent of the very anti-minority racism and other -isms that a large group of people go stalking through life protesting against. But somehow it's ok when "those people" are those who are afraid to get the vaccination, don't trust the vaccination, or simply don't want it.

The irony is that while the mainstream media tries to spin it as a Left-Right thing when it comes to being vaccinated, a very large percentage of the unvaccinated in this country live in Blue states, members of the African American community. Many members of minority groups don't trust the government and rightfully so (Tuskegee Experiment anyone?).

Creating second-class citizens is apparently ok when the government wants to do it.

Coming next: Arm bands and internment camps for the nonvaccinated. Time to dust off a copy of Mein Kampf for a re-read.

I'm fully vaccinated as well.  I had been puzzled with the fact he hadn't held a press conference much sooner during this latest surge.  But rather than the speech being inspiring it had an angry, condemning and authoritarian tone.  “If you break the rules, be prepared to pay — and by the way, show some respect...”   There were also the typical half truths and false statements that politicians tell us to justify their actions.  Like not reiterating the key fact that vaccinated people can still get and spread the virus.  And falsely claiming it was the increased number of vaccinations during the last few weeks that is behind some states seeing a decline in cases and hospitalizations now.

I'll tell you right this second, it isnt threatening them to get the jab, that is the complete opposite of the way to go about it, matter of fact, the more he threatens, the less he's going to be effective, I wasnt kidding, he is tearing the country apart to lay down the foundation for socialism and communism, I love how the non Americans on here scoff at the slightest hint of that, as they watch CNN for their info, they have zero idea whats really going on here, ZERO! the scary thing is they dismiss it and arent even the slightest bit interested in hearing what actual people who live here have to say, I listen to G-Off and the other Aussies who are actually in Oz, matter of fact I usually get on here first to ask about shit in Oz, so weird.

For the record I completely disagree with Bidens approach on this. No way is this happening in the UK. I want and would always encourage people to be vaccinated as I believe its the right thing to do, but it should never be mandated.

Still to dangerous for a child to kick a soccer ball in a christ forsaken wide open space. And will school, for about 4 weeks, actually open on October 25th? Putting a mask on a child so they might not infect person B who is vaccinated, so that person B might not pass it onto person C who is also vaccinated and seriously, when does the hideous paranoia ever end?

I keep asking myself what the point of these vaccines are because nothing about them is changing how scared everyone is of this virus. Yes, we're all slowly getting vaccinated, but we still can't do anything we couldn't do before we were vaccinated, and our upcoming "freedom" still features everything we took the vaccine to escape from. So what's the point in it all? 

Said it before, and I'll say it again. Never in my life have I understood more if and why someone chooses to take their own life in this period of time. That tunnel is completely void of any light at the end of it. 

Aside from the mask debate, which is a different argument, I'll say that if we are wearing masks to protect us from covid, and also protect us from spreading covid, then why the fuck aren't kids wearing masks?
Maybe they don't get as sick as adults, but THEY CAN STILL PASS IT ON.

Personally, I'd be a fucking lot more likely to wear a mask WHEN I'M IN A SITUATION WHERE I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD, if it wasn't mandated under fear of fines etc.
I walk the do by myself, not coming close to anyone else, and I MUST wear a mask?!?!?

Additionally, as confirmed by Biden's mouthpiece Psaki, federal workers are required to get vaccinated or lose their jobs, but detained illegals at the border are allowed to refuse the vaccintation. Nice.

I would also argue that if a vaccine is mandated to be employed in this country, then it should also be required in order to receive Welfare benefits. Why hasn't that been mandated?

It was announced yesterday that all workers in the construction industry must have at least one shot or be able to prove an appointment booking by next Thursday to be able to work on a building site.

I booked my appointment for the end of the month last night. I had no choice.

I'm absolutely fucking disgusted with our leaders.

lol. Mate, it's not ballsnessness. You could argue you're a bit slow in seeing where this was all headed, but ballsnessness isn't part of it.

I've said it multiple times in this thread. I have loved Australia for my entire life but I genuinely despise the country we have become. Hate the fucking place, if I'm being completely honest. It is a petrified, pathetic society we are now all part of. 

The vaccine is only one of a hundred things forced upon us in recent times, to the point where it's become too many to pick out any one reason why you hate what you've become... just following all this mindless rubbish like a moronic sheep.

But what's the alternative? A $5000 fine for not wearing one of these stupid fucking masks? Losing your job because you don't want a vaccine that you're being forced to take? Likely imprisonment for as you say "standing up for your rights?" 

Mate, it's all very well to talk about stuff like that, but you have to look at the reality of it. Risk vs Reward. I can 100% unequivocally say that there will be no reward, other than perhaps some personal peace of mind, but that doesn't count for much when you can't feed your family because your jobless, or in prison, or forking out $5000 for fines you can't afford to pay. 

Make no mistake about it, not all of us are happily taking vaccines because we want to, or walking around like absolute fucking idiots in these face masks because we want to. All about risk vs reward and our government has made it abundantly clear that you will no longer be a part of society if you are not vaccinated. More or less a de-registered citizen, far as I can tell. 

Don't be disgusted at yourself. Be disgusted at the absolute cunts forcing our lives to be what they've become. 

The worst thing about it all - don't expect it to ever change for any foreseeable time. The fear of this virus is so all-encompassing in this country that we won't escape it for as long as I can see. These "freedoms" they keep talking about at 70-80% - even 90% - they are all freedoms still completely governed by fear. Even though 70-90% of our population will be vaccinated against a virus that was only ever significant to about 1-2% of people when we were unvaccinated, every "freedom" we're about to encounter is laced with fine print keeping us locked into living in fear of the virus. 

No indication whatsoever of trying to live life beyond covid once we're all vaccinated. As I've stated elsewhere, they've made the restrictions so all encompassing that they're hoping that when we go back to level 5 restrictions, instead of level 10, or wherever it is now, we're meant to be grateful that we're "free" again. We will never be free again until we stop the daily numbers. Tests, positive cases, hospital numbers, deaths etc. Until we can treat it like any other virus/disease we are all vaccinated against, we will not experience freedom again. And do you see this happening any year soon? I sure as all fucks don't.

No masks (except we are asked to on public transport, but most arent tbh), and passport vaccines have just been ditched. 

So basically NO restrictions whatsoever.

And everytime I read people talking about a 1% death rate i always scratch my head. 

The measures were put in place mainly to protect the elderly and people with health conditions. 

You can argue what might have been til the end of days but the stats in the UK are there for all to read. Over 80s death rate 15%, over 70s 8%.

Not a great outcome if you're in that age category. 

We are just about to embark on a booster jab for over 50s so you all better get used to having the jab or you'll be locked down forever.

Yes mate, and that's awesome... if you live in the UK. If you're Australian and you think any of that is headed our way anytime soon, you're an absolute gump. All we hear about is continued measures to keep case numbers low, even when we're all fully vaccinated. That's all they still care about. Suburbs will still be locked down after 80% vaccination, if there are high case numbers, even if everyone is vaccinated. This country just doesn't get it. Fucking morons, I keep saying. How can you ever plan to travel again knowing that your suburb could be locked down again at any given time? How can you ever plan anything again with that possibility looming over your head?

Mate, I'll let you re-read what you said about the death rate and let you figure it out yourself. So what's the death rate for under 10's and 20s? Under 30s? Under 40s, 50s and 60s? Or is the death rate for the entire world's population only calculated on over 70s, who were all vaccinated 6 months ago anyway?

Do you need a covid test before you travel, when you arrive at your destination, and when leave and when you return? Tests you must pay for? Just saw that France has suspended over 3000 public health workers without pay for not getting vaccinated so it's all over the world. If there was a silent fight over this its been lost. Anyway I'm fully vaxxed now too. Until I have to get a booster.

Yeah, this is the vibe I get too. Hearing what Glen says about the UK makes me think they at least are giving it a fair crack, but I did also hear a story the other day that they're not ruling out the possible return on lockdowns in the UK as they head into winter. So does that mean they're preparing for winter to just undo all the work they've done to try and claw back some "normality" in the UK? 

And all one had to do was look at any of the Japan Olympics to see that the battle is well and truly lost there too. And all the travel stuff I watch on youtube is still so heavy on masks, wherever people travel to. So I'm not really sure I believe anywhere is void of absolute fucking madness. 

When you look at how the human race has been tracking for quite a while now, it doesn't defy belief that something like this could happen but to see it actually unfold, as we're living through it, is pretty soul destroying. As a parent, one can only ponder what on earth kind of shit world have we brought our children into?
