H.e.a.t - H.e.a.t II

In my mind, they were a bit more sleazy with Kenny.
His voice always reminded me a bit of Juno Roxas.

With Eric they became a bit more adult sounding, both in the vocals, as well as the music.
Will be interesting to see how they sound with Kenny again, if the production changes etc.

In the end good songs are good songs.
Not sure if either singer contributed to the song writing, and by how much, but the next album will either be slammed, or loved :)

Hmm, for all these years I thought fans preferred Kenny. Guess I was wrong about that, lots of folks are really upset that Erik left.

They're both tremendous vocalists and talented as hell and I'm excited to hear what Kenny can bring after so many years away from the band. It sucks that Erik is moving on but really cool that they brought Kenny back. Also the release and the photos of Erik handing the microphone to Kenny are super classy, you don't see that sort of thing often.

I suppose I'm the only one excited by this?

There's no mention of why he's left, though. Was it amicable; did they kick him out? It clearly wasn't an overnight decision, I mean they got Kenny back! And had time for a photo shoot.

And, damn, he's looking good. Not just lost some weight, but the dude is ripped.

Just gutted today.  These guys had become my favorite band and just like that can now stick a fork in them.

Just gutted today.  These guys had become my favorite band and just like that can now stick a fork in them.  I know the Kenny/Erik debate has been done many times but for me Kenny can't hold a candle to Erik and they aren't even in the same league.  Erik is what made H.E.A.T interesting with his power, energy and stage presence and he's the reason I became a fan.  I never really cared for what they were doing with Kenny and still can't even listen to those first 2 albums even though I've tried many times.

I guess I'm thankful for 4 albums of greatness, a couple live albums and that I got to see them live a handful of times.  End of an era though.  I guess on the bright side I'll be saving myself some money as I had spent a fair amount traveling to see them.  And really glad I got to witness them on the last Monsters of Rock cruise which apparently turned out to be their grand finale.  It's just a shame as the buzz they generated on that cruise is now all for nothing.  Damn COVID!

2020 just sucks :angryfire:

Other than the part about seeing them live, you took the words out of my mouth.  Personally, I don't think Kenny's albums hold a candle to any of the ones with Erik.  This is terrible, terrible news.

I love first two albums. Great melodic rock/AOR with Kennys soulful Mark Free meet Steve Overland type of voice.

I guess I prefer more melodic sound.

And I love albums with Erik too.

Especially Adress the nation is great.

Erik has more rocking voice, like Mats Leven.

I agree that Erik definitely has more energy on stage and presence, but I'm glad to see Kenny back, and especially cause he's not fat anymore! Haha. Looking good.

We will see how it turns out,but I have good vibes about this.

It's good that Kenny is replacing Erik and not some other dude.

Erik's full statement:

Wow what a ride! ⠀
Life is too short to be static. It’s extremely important for me to keep growing everyday and never get stuck in my comfort zone. I’ve had the honor to tour around the world together with Heat, my best friends, for 10 years but now I have decided to move on and try something new.
Heat has really been a place for me to grow as an individual, singer and frontman. The guys recruited this young Swedish Idol guy and believed more in me and my potential than I did myself. I am forever grateful for that. I really wish more people could experience being in a band, everything from traveling together, the connection between the members, the laughs, the fighting over a set list, the good days, the bad days, the unlimited amount of alcohol while also trying to coordinate and organize everything as a business, the living on a tour bus together with 0.5 m2 space available... It’s worth it! ⠀
Gentlemen it’s been a pleasure touring the world with you. I’ve learned a lot from you and you’ve made me stronger. When I’m on my death bed I will still laugh at some of the crazy shit we’ve done. I look forward to build more memories with you, just not collectively as Heat. I want to clarify that this decision is my decision alone and there are no hard feelings anywhere. We are all grown ups and respect each other’s decisions in life.⠀
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who have supported me and Heat throughout the years. I will keep rocking in a different format and have a few things to present in the near future. If you want to follow me on that journey as well just hop on! I hereby hand over the microphone to my fellow rocker and original Heat singer Kenny Leckremo.
I will focus on building my entertainment company in Africa where we create entertainment and give talents in these markets a platform and the opportunity to be discovered. I will also focus on assisting my clients in my management company
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a ride!’ - Hunter S Thompson

For me, not good Kenny is replacing Erik.  I'd rather see a fresh voice since I already know I don't care for Kenny...

They've already been there and done that.  They had moved forward and increased their popularity without Kenny.

I'd have preferred a fresh, new start.

Feels more like 3 steps backwards to me.

I predict a new CD that isn't received that well and then the end of HEAT.

Sad. Hope I'm wrong.

Hopefully Kenny is onboard with the progression of the band. I can see them making an Address The Nation 2 with Kenny.

I don't think Kenny's vocals are dynamic enough for the H.E.A.T. of today. Maybe he'll prove me wrong.

That's absurd.

If Gotthard can continue, so can H.e.a.t.

Exactly.  I don't think his voice fits songs like Bastard of Society, Inferno, etc.  He's a totally different singer than Erik and I think he'll sound pretty silly trying to do some of those songs.

I mean, part of it for me was was almost visualizing Erik on stage with his energy while even listening to studio versions of the songs.  You could almost feel his energy oozing through the speakers if that makes any sense.  It just brought something intangible to the music.

Kenny is a "nice" singer, but he doesn't bring that to the table.

It won't surprise me either if they fade away and mail things in after one album with Kenny.  I just bet the demand to book them live decreases significantly, ticket sales decrease, album sales take a big hit and they'll wonder why they're still doing it all.

Maybe I'll be wrong....time will tell I guess.

I just know that I wouldn't go out of my way to see them now.  I drove 10 hours each way twice to Chicago to go see them in 2014 & 2017 and no way in heck I'd do that again with Kenny fronting them.

It's sad to say but Erik was the kind of guy that people could connect with and he could own an audience.  Kenny is nowhere near that.

Just sucks.  These guys just made a kick ass album and probably had more buzz going than they ever had after the Monsters of Rock cruise.  Then this COVID crap came along and killed all momentum.

Seems strange that they released a new vid/song in late June....then 4 months later he's gone, maybe Eriks new/solo stuff will be more like H.E.A.T than H.E.A.T will be...?

When Kenny first left, I was very upset, and it took me a while to warm up to Erik. but after four excellent albums I have really come to like this guy and prefer him in the band over Kenny. Even though it is cool to see Kenny back, this is not good news.

I also always felt that with Erik as a frontman, they would have a much greater chance at mainstream success.

Erik is a better frontman and singer than Kenny. On the other hand, Kenny is a better songwriter, so it should be intresting to see what they can come up with for the next album.

Why not bring Eric Rivers back too for a TOTAL reunion of the original line-up whilst they're at it? That would just be mega fantastic. but first, grow back your hair Eric!

It looks like they parted on good terms and that's always good to see.

I love the photo of Erik handing back the "baton".

Now lets get back to the important question. Andrew never did divulge what "H.E.A.T." stands for.

So we are not even 12 hours in to Erik leaving and Kenny resuming vocals and already any future music is rubbish, demand for live concerts has dropped, sales have dipped and they’ll be calling it a day..

Seriously?

absolutely ridiculous comments in this thread.

First and foremost let's one thing absolutely straight. No way in one million years will heat make it big. Not with Erik singing not with Kenny singing.

Fantastic band that they are the popularity of this music is just not there in the 2020s.

There are forever destined to be playing tours in small venues playing to 1 - 2000 peeps. Fact.

This is reason Erik jumped ship. He's not getting any younger and doesn't want to spend the next 10 years festering in small clubs.

You only live once.....He's still trying for his shot at fame.

secondly,  i doubt many actually saw Kenny live?

I did and he was awesome.

fair enough he didn't jump around shadow boxing his way through every song but his voice was great.

Not quite sure what 10 will have done but I'm due to see them in Oct 2021 and am certainly interested to see what he brings.

personally I found the new album a little generic and it would be nice to hear some of the classic tracks live again

lastly, I doubt this has anything to do with COVID.

I would imagine that he will be releasing music in 2021 and my bet would be much more modern with pop influences

trying to break a more mainstream audience

H.E.A.T ANNOUNCE NEW FRONTMAN KENNY LECKREMO

“The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away”

Swedish rock band H.E.A.T have today announced that lead singer Erik Grönwall will be leaving the band, and that his replacement will be original H.E.A.T vocalist Kenny Leckremo.

The news comes after the success of the band’s critically acclaimed sixth studio album ”H.E.A.T II” which featured the singles – ”Dangerous Ground”, ”Rock Your Body”, ”Rise”, ”Come Clean” and ”One By One”.

The original founding members of H.E.A.T issued the following statement about Erik leaving the group to pursue other interests.
”First of all, we want to thank Erik for all the crazy fun and epic travels around the world the past 10 years. Together we made H.E.A.T what it is today. Secondly, we want to welcome back founding member and original vocalist Kenny Leckremo to the band. We’re looking forward to write the next chapter of H.E.A.T story together.”

”It’s like a shot at redemption,” adds Leckremo. ”I’m thrilled to be back, and to be a part of what H.E.A.T is today. No longer just a shadow of the past, but a force into the future. The H.E.A.T legacy continues.”

Says Grönwall about his departure - ”H.E.A.T has really been a place for me to grow as an individual, singer and frontman. The guys recruited this young Swedish Idol guy and believed more in me and my potential than I did
myself. I am forever grateful for that. Gentlemen it’s been a pleasure touring the world with you. I’ve learned a lot from you and you’ve made me stronger. I look forward to build more memories with you, just not collectively as H.E.A.T.”
