I started a new job that is ultra boring but you are allowed to wear earphones so I've been listening to albums on YouTube (between the 10,000 annoying interruption ads). What are some of your go-to albums when you need a great listen?

Some of my favorites that I've been spinning this past week:

Beautiful Creatures "S/T"

Dokken "Back For The Attack"

Weezer "The Green Album" and "Pinkerton"

The Wildhearts "Earth vs The Wildhearts"

Malice "License To Kill"

Harem Scarem "United"

Lizzy Borden "Master Of Disguise"

CrashDiet "Rest In Sleaze"

Wild Boyz "Unleashed"

Ratt "Infestation"

I would consider my "go to" albums the ones from the old days that I could play from start to finish without skipping. There are many, but off the top of my head.

Lynch Mob - first two albums

Dokken - Back for the Attack

Don Dokken - Up From the Ashes

Winger - Pull

W.A.S.P. - Headless Children/Crimson Idol

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime

Mark Free - Long Way From Love

Black Sabbath - TYR

XYZ - Hungry

Skid Row - Slave to the Grind

Many more to mention.

Oh, is the question what are our all-time favourites, or what are we currently reaching for most frequently? I might have to change my answer.

What do you frequently turn to without hesitation and you know you're in for a great listen.

Mine are,

Back to the Street by Petra

Mr Moonlight by Foreigner

Last Train by Holy Soldier : ) : ) : )

All amazing albums!!!!

Dokken - BFTA
W.E.T. - Rise Up
But in all fairness, I don't listen to a lot of full albums anymore. Over the years(going back to late 80's early 90's) I've made 1000's of comps. Cassette then cd now on my ipod.

Baton Rouge - Shake Your Soul

Hardline - Double Eclipse

Gathering of Kings - First Mission

Magnum - The Spirit

Demon - The Unexpected Guest

Axel Rudi Pell - Kings and Queens, Oceans of Time (and others tbf)

I cannot say I have any specific go to albums these days as I listen mostly to a huge random playlist of 6000+ songs most of the time.

But I would have to say that favourite albums and go to albums would probably be the same thing for most people.

When you buy a new album it might be on constant rotation for a while, but your favourites of all time are the ones you will probably go back to the most, and sometimes the best "go to" albums are the best ofs and greatest hits type deals as well.

I listened to these today:

Savatage "Hall Of The Mountain King"

Monster "Through The Eyes Of The World"

Loudness "Thunder In The East"

Spread Eagle "S/T"

Babylon A.D. "S/T"

New American Shame "S/T"

For me it would be go to bands as I filter all the good songs into folders.

If I had to choose only albums, it would likely be

Bad City - Welcome To The Wasteland
Cats In Space - Day Trip To Narnia
Hot Action Cop - ST
Gun - Swagger
Roxanne - Radio Silence
Motley - Dr Feelgood
Dangerous Toys - Pissed
VH - 5150
Shiraz Lane - Carnival Days
Kiss - Unmasked
Twisted Sister - Youy Can't Stop RNR

This is kinda tough.  I don't know if I really have go-to albums.....More like I have go-to artists.

It seems like the past 4-5 years my go to stuff has been H.e.a.t, Crazy Lixx, Midnite City, Eclipse.  I kinda rotate the CD's in my car weekly and it seems like I always have one or two from the above artists in my rotation.

Honestly, don't really pull out older stuff all that often.  I kinda crave new music.  I just sorta randomly pull things out that I haven't listened to in awhile from time to time to mix in with newer stuff.  Some of my favorite albums from back in the day have been overplayed so much though that I never listen to them (Def Leppard, GNR, Warrant, etc, etc).

For the first half of this year though I did find myself spending some time with a few older albums...Firehouse's debut got a lot of play, Roxy Blue-Want Some & Tyketto-Don't Come Easy all got some good play.  Also Tesla-Mechanical Resonance got some run.  I forgot how much I liked some of these albums.

These days when I turn away from the newer stuff I look considerably further back than most here....lately I have been listening to the entire discographys of a bunch of older bands and I must admit to being impressed all over again by most of these bands output as I have forgotten just how good they were...these were some of my favorite bands during the 70s and 80s....

April Wine

Aerosmith

Bad Company

Blue Oyster Cult

Foghat

Judas Priest

Nazareth

Rainbow

Starz

Streetheart

Tesla

It's weird because when I listen to some of those 80's bands that I thought were great back then, I listen now and wonder why I thought they were so great. LOL

Anybody else experience this?
