With a line-up featuring original members, Erik Turner, Jerry Dixon, Joey Allen, and Steven Sweet along with singer Robert Mason (Lynch Mob, Cry of Love), Warrant are now stronger than ever. Mason’s vocals remain a breath of fresh air and his swagger on the songs gives new life and a bright future to the band. With production handled by Foreigner and ex-Dokken bass player Jeff Pilson (Last In Line, Starship, Adler’s Appetite, etc.), Warrant is sounding tighter and playing better than ever before. Jerry Dixon adds, “Louder Harder Faster is truly one of our best records to date. When we started this project over two years ago, we wanted to bring the listener back to the days of sitting in the living room and cranking up a record from start to finish. Warrant was one of the most popular and successful rock bands to emerge out of Hollywood, CA in the late 80's and early 90's. The band was formed in the early 80's by Erik Turner and Jerry Dixon. In 1989, Warrant released their classic debut “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich”, which immediately entered the charts and launched the hit singles “Down Boys,” “Sometimes She Cries”, and “Heaven”, which climbed up to number two on the US charts. With extensive touring for DRFSR, sales exceeded 2 million records in the U.S.

In the summer of 1990, their second album “Cherry Pie” was released. The album turned out to be an even bigger success, featuring the Top Ten hits "I Saw Red", "Uncle Toms Cabin" and the rock anthem "Cherry Pie”, which received massive airplay on MTV and continues to get millions of plays on streaming services and YouTube to this very day.

I loved "Rockaholic" and i'm rarely disappointed with anything involving Robert Mason.

 

I remember when i saw Rockaholic at my local cd store. I'd been out of the loop for a while and didn't know they'd released a new album. I was undecided about buying it until i saw there was a track called "Dusty's Revenge".

My name is Dustin (everybody calls me Dusty), so i had to get it and when i got home and saw that one of my alltime favourite vocalists was involved, i was thrilled.

Then to find out it was a concept album and the main protagonist the "Rockaholic", was called Dusty blew my mind.

 

Can't wait for this new one.

Also, can we take a minute and recognise this? If we're gonna spend more money to get the physical copy, WE should be the ones getting the bonus tracks. I'm tired of all the bloody digital-only bonus tracks. Put them on the physical copies, not the digital copies, and not on streaming services. That might encourage folks to buy your music.

I noticed it too. I think it's a cool thing. More artists should go the same route.

It reminds me back in the beginning of time when vinyl gave way for the compact disc format, almost every cd had at least 1 bonus track or mix compared to the vinyl version. Sweet times!

Endlessly? I noticed them on a few bills, but didn't realise they were gigging extensively.

Band members should keep making music but change the band name, without Jani Lane, Warrant is dead to me.

I agree about the name. Jani Lane is/was Warrant.

It would have been cool i guess if they had of changed it even out of respect for Jani, but then again maybe it's their way of paying respect and tribute to him. Keeping Warrant alive may have been what he wanted.

Also, don't forget that the band name "Warrant" is a well known and established "Brand".

From a business point of view it makes sense to stick with it.

I will confess I have yet to hear any Warrant w/Mason on vox, however I own "Born Again" w/Jamie St. James on vox and I kinda dig that one. Seems like most fans choose to ignore it though...

Actually, that one kinda sounds like a Black n Blue disc.

 

But Rockaholic isn't bad by any means. It just is hard to call it Warrant.

It's still definitely not Warrant, that's for sure. The main difference is I can already tell it'll be average, dumb rock. Hopefully a bit of good stuff here and there, but just average and basically written. Very different situation compared to Warrant with Lane, who was a thoughtful, interesting song writer. As noted, there is no Warrant without Lane.

That pretty much covers it above. Jani Lane is peerless in this genre imo. A truly gifted though obviously tortured individual. It actually saddens me to think I won't get to hear what else he could have created on his acoustic.

 

And since few if any will ever match his songwriting ability, I can enjoy Warrant with Mason without reservations. I really liked Sex Ain't Love, What Love Can Do and Life's a Song and I dig Mason's vocals but his approach seems like it is too similar song after song. I still look forward to this one and am happy to see them carrying on. They are a lot of fun live!

 

Four outta 5 originals and a powerhouse singer all enjoying themselves on stage and treating their fans to the hits and a few new numbers. Unless you are Def Lep, GNR, Bon Jovi, or a handful of others, no one is booking you to sell out stadiums and arenas. It's not 1989 anymore. So you play where you are wanted. You can bet 90s fare like Better Than Ezra, Spin Doctors and Gin Blossoms etc are playing the same circuit as these cats. No shame in that.

I'm always on the fence when it comes to this. Being a former singer myself, I always say the singer makes the band and for me I believe it's true. Some bands can go on (AC/DC,VH), and when it's a case of the singer (Jani Lane) losing his battle with his demons, why should the rest of the band suffer and have to change the name or whatever.

Its a lot better than I would have assumed and I have been avoiding this thread like that lump on my balls...

 

I like the voice and the stops are nice.

 

 

Warrant or not its a solid rock n roll tune.
