My Short Absence (A Little Accident)

It's been just over a week since I've been on here. About 8 days ago I had a little accident and lost a finger while splitting wood. I've had a couple emails asking where I have been.. Just haven't felt like messing with the computer. It is also a bit hard to type since it was my right hand. It could have been a lot worse (though it's bad enough). Looks like I will not be on as much over the next couple weeks as I have follow up visits to a specialist. So far I have only lost the tip of the finger but depending on the healing process they may have to amputate a bit more of it.

I know it seems a bit small (losing part of a finger) but mentally it is hard to get over. The last couple nights I've woke up in a sweat and rolling around as I have relived the "accident" in dreams. Basketball season is coming up and it looks like I may not be able to coach my son's team. I hope I will be able to be involved somehow anyway.

I'll be checking in a bit over the next couple of weeks or so..

Question to those who sell instruments... I may be selling a couple guitars over the next month or so. Is selling online a bad idea? Is it better to sell locally?

Thanks... ~Dave~

Oh, shit. I'm sorry to hear that, Dave. I'll be praying for you. Glad to hear you're okay, for the most part. Thanks for keeping us informed.

Oh God Dave, sorry to hear that. I can't imagine losing something that vital. I know life goes on, but, man! I hope that you heal mentally/emotionally as much as physically. And that technology may be able to help somewhere not too far down the road.

I'm sending up an extra prayer tonight. Take care of yourself Dave.

Shit Dave that is scary and icky and sad and I am cringing as I type. Sorry to hear about your accident my friend. I can only imagine what it is like mentally, all the what if scenarios running through your head.

Get better soon, chin up and keep the HH family updated.

Back from the hospital... It looks like a "wait and see" as far as to whether or not they are going to have to amputate a bit more of the finger. Next check up is December 4th. I kind of wish they would just make a decision so I could deal with it and be done.

Thanks for all the "well wishes"... I'll keep those interested up to date. I might even post some pictures... (nahhhh..)

Small? No, mate, it sounds terrible - much sympathy. Hope you don't lose any more of your finger. All the best mate.

So not to be Captain Morbid or anything, but which finger is it???

It's the right pinky. In that respect I guess I was a bit lucky. Still.. I wish I still had it.

I'm getting used to fact that I'll never have the top of the finger again. The only time it really bothers me now is each day when I've got to change the bandage. I still don't like to look at it. It still bleeds a bit... so the bandage sticks to the tip each time I change it. Hurts like Hell when I have to pull it off.

Man, sorry to hear it, mate. Wishing you all the best for your recovery and I hope you're back to somewhere near "normal" asap.

Was a bit worried about the progress of my healing. I went in to have the finger checked out and was told it looks pretty good (easy for him to say) and with a bit of luck it will heal itself with no further surgery which would include cutting the bone back and taking a bit more of the finger off.
