On the weekend:

'John Tucker Must Die' - lame teen girl comedy, but some nice scenery.

'Borat' - Holy shitballs! Hugely recommended. This was f*cking hilarious! Anyone here seen it? It is so wrong in every conceivable way, yet so right. Loved it.

We rented The Plague last night. Not a bad movie. It had that dude (forgot his name) from Dawson's Creek in it.

I thought I'd seen someone else comment on this movie recently... the wife and I rented it last night and well, we thought it was pretty awful. The first 10 minutes were VERY promising, creepy, disturbing, and it set up what could've been an excellent story in the right hands, but unfortunately the interesting premise wasn't enough to save it, once the prologue was over the whole movie fell straight into the crapper. It was like a mish-mash of "Children of the Damned," "Children of the Corn," and "Night Of The Living Dead" with all of the suspense, gore, scariness, and social commentary left out. We were hoping that there'd eventually be an explanation as to why all the kids went into comas at the beginning of the movie, why they woke up all zombie-fied after ten years, and how to stop whatever caused it, but nope, instead we just get a bunch of random characters wandering around trying not to get picked off for about an hour, and an abrupt new-agey ending that had us both scratching our heads like "WTF?"

About halfway in my wife and I stopped trying to figure out the point of it all and instead we started wondering how much $$ they paid Clive Barker to put his name on this piece of crap, cuz apparently he didn't have much to do with it otherwise.

I bet James Vanderbeek is praying that someone calls him soon to offer him a "Dawson's Creek" reunion movie cuz if this is the kind of stuff that he's acting in nowadays he definitely needs a new agent.

I'm glad you liked it Scott, but me, I just wanted to get my $$ back when it was over...

Last night I watched something called "Dark Secrets," which was a softcore "erotic thriller" (the kinda thing you see on Cinemax late at night) starring me and Faust's favorite actress, Julie Strain. The story was crap but at least there was plenty of eye candy ;)

On the weekend:

'Posieden' - enjoyable flick with some awesome cleavage shots of the lead girl.

'I'll always know what you did last summer' - I actually really quite liked this one. Good effort. I think the only reason it didn't make the big screen is the lack of any "name" actors in it.

Superman Returns - Bryan Singer at his directorial best. Awesome movie. May seem a bit long the first time you watch it, but it gets better every time. **Highly Recommended**

On deck for tonight: Pirates 2: Dead Man's Chest

We just watched a movie called "Row Your Boat" starring Jon Bon Jovi. It was a bit slow moving but otherwise not bad, it was kind of a combination between romantic drama and crime drama. I bought the DVD at our local dollar store a while back but we just got around to watching it. For a buck, it wasn't bad (and it was certainly better than any of the other "Dollar Store DVDs" I've purchased in the past)... I was actually impressed with JBJ's acting ability.

  • 3 weeks later...

I've seen two 80s trash/horror classics on DVD of late..."Maniac Cop" starring Tom Atkins and Bruce (the man) Campbell, and 1981's semi classic "Hell Night" starring Linda Blair of "Exorcist" fame (she was all grown up and looked quite HOT in Hell Night too!!)

I watched 'The Inside Man' last night, and I really, really enjoyed it. BUT, could they not identify all the customers from the video footage before the cameras were wiped out? And what about the phones and clothes? Could they not match them up to the innocents, as I don't believe the robbers had phones or clothes under their painting outfits? I don't know... I'm no genius but surely it would not have been that hard to find the innocents. And also, what was up with no-one in the bank noticing a whole new wall for a week? And where did he go to the toilet for that week? And did they not have surviellance (sp?) cameras up there to see him escape?

As I said, I really liked the film but a few too many holes in the story, IMO.
