To Live and Die In LA. One of, if not, THE best car chases. Ever.

And this is only part of it:

I haven't seen this, but Bullit and Ronin both had great car chases. Is this film worth watching, apart from this scene?

I liked it, saw it twice. When it first came out in the theater, and then again about 15 years ago. Wow, I'm getting old! lol

Brave - trying to make Friday night movie night and Brave was night 1. my daughter is stuck on just a few things that she watches and it is a fight to watch new stuff. It was an ok watch. didn't feel like a Pixar film, felt like a pure Disney anamated film.

Saturday is the night we usually have movie night, and the boys(7 and 5) are pretty good at sitting through the hole thing and pretty good at watching a new one every week.

The Grinch, with the family!

Not as good as "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," but Jim Carey did an excellent job, nonetheless.

My "Twisted Christmas" film festival (which started a few days ago with "Bad Santa") continues with...

"Silent Night" (2012)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FYCMo7LvuQ

In this holiday based horror (loosely based on the 1984 cult classic "Silent Night, Deadly Night"), someone in a Santa suit is slaughtering the "naughty" residents of a quiet Midwestern town. The sheriff (Malcolm McDowell!) and his rookie deputy (Jaime King) are hot on the trail, but unfortunately the town happens to be full of guys in Santa suits for the local Christmas parade, so the killer is always one step ahead of'em.

For most of its run time Silent Night is a fast paced, action packed slab of gory fun with a sick sense of humor (there are even a few nods to the '80s SN, DN films that fans will appreciate) but unfortunately it falls apart in its last fifteen minutes - it feels like they couldn't quite figure out how to end the movie, cuz after what should've been a climactic scene it keeps on sputtering along for a while more till the end credits finally roll. Still worth a look as an antidote to all the sickly sweet Christmas movies that clog the airwaves this time of year.

Next up: the "Black Christmas" remake and then "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians."

And I do. I often fast forward through any type of chase scene, or in horror movies when someone is walking around in the dark for 12mins waiting for someone to jump out at them - fast forward. That shit bores me to streams of tears. It's like watching the bits between hardcore sexual intercourse in a porn movie. Pointless.

Click; really predictable, silly film, but an easy, reasonably fun watch. Plus has Christopher Walken in and he is always hugely entertaining.

Return of the Sith; watched it with my son, who is 5 and was bored after about 45 minutes, although he got back into it towards the end. Looks great, fantastic to see Darth Vader and probably better than the 2 preceding films, but still nowhere near awesomeness of the original 3 films.

Starting watching Angel Heart again last night and fell asleep. Gutted, as I love that film.

The Twisted Christmas Film Festival continues with...

"Black Christmas" (2006)

Ultra-violent remake of the '70s slasher classic about a sorority house that gets a Christmas Eve visit from an escaped maniac. Lotsa pretty girls, some truly sick gore but otherwise nothin' you haven't seen before in dozens of similar movies.

I didn't watch this but read a snippit about it at the dentist office today. looks like the whole thing is on youtube

The year is 1987. Motorcycle ninjas tighten their grip on Florida's narcotics trade, viciously annihilating anyone who dares move in on their turf. Multi-national martial arts rock band Dragon Sound have had enough, and embark on a roundhouse wreck-wave of crime-crushing justice. When not chasing beach bunnies or performing their hit song "Against the Ninja," Mark (kung-fu master/inspirational speaker Y.K. Kim) and the boys are kicking and chopping at the drug world's smelliest underbelly. It'll take every ounce of their blood and courage, but Dragon Sound can't stop until they've completely destroyed the dealers, the drunk bikers, the kill-crazy ninjas, the middle-aged thugs, the "stupid cocaine"...and the entire MIAMI CONNECTION!!!

Holy sh*t, THAT. LOOKS. AWESOME.

I read a write-up about this movie in "Entertainment Weekly" a month or two ago, it sounds like a pisser. The owner of Alamo Drafthouse Films (a Texas theatre chain that specializes in reviving artsy/weird/forgotten/indie "B" movies) bought a print of this movie on eBay for fifty bucks and he loved it so much that he tracked down actor/producer Y.K. Kim (who's now a successful motivational speaker and who has spent the last twenty five years trying to forget he ever made this movie), and convinced Kim to sell Alamo the rights to re-release it. Kim spent a million bucks of his own money to make this movie in 1987 (despite a total lack of knowledge about the film business) and it never got played anywhere except one theatre in his hometown of Miami. Now it looks like he's got a cult hit on his hands after all these years.

This trailer is the first look I've had at it, and it looks completely batsh*t insane. That guitar playin' dude looks like John Oates () and that "Against the Ninja" song is irresistible. Must. See. This. Now.

"Legion" (2010)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGE_zSdCzDU

It's the end of the world as we know it!! God has decided to wipe the Earth clean in a new apocalypse, but fortunately for humankind one of his gun-totin' warrior angels breaks rank and decides to try and defend us from extinction. The venue for the Final Battle is an out-of-the-way diner in the American Southwest, where a very special baby is about to be born, and which must be protected at all costs.

A bizarre amalgam of bits stolen from "The Terminator," "The Omen," "The Seventh Sign" and even "Night of the Living Dead" featuring cool creatures, tons of bone-crushing action and a healthy amount of Book of Revelations style creepiness. It may not be logical but it sure isn't boring.
