"Real Steel" (2011)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3S8a180uYBM

An odd mix of cyber-ass kicking and sappy sentimentality, this family friendly sci-fi feature set in the near future stars Hugh Jackman as a down-on-his-luck "robot boxer" who bonds with his long-lost son over the course of one crazy summer on the World Robot Boxing League circuit.

The "rock'em sock'em robot" fight scenes are loads of fun to watch, but the schmaltz threatens to overpower the proceedings from time to time.

Yeah, it's that "sappy sentimentality" that really killed this one for me. Not to say without it this would have been a great film, mind you.

The robot fighting stuff was fun to watch, though. They should've just made "Rock'Em Sock'Em Robots: The Movie" and had robots beatin' the shit out of each other for two hours, with no human characters at all.

American Dreamz

Hahaha. I didn't think much of this before I watched it but OMG this was funny shit! Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid, Williem Dafoe and Mandy Moore mocks the American Dream (in this case George W. Bush and Simon Cowell/X -Factor/American Idol).

I laughed my butt of! Seriously!

You didn't know Russel Crowe could sing? He's got his own band.

Premium Rush - wasn't sold on this as I didn't really get the concept of a movie based around a bike messanger. I've gotta say it was pretty good. a nice watch.

She says it takes away from her playing time. never mind that I want to try to do someting to have the family sit down and do something together. I guess she wants to play board games or something. guess we will see how that goes

I watched several movies this weekend.

1. The Bourne Legacy - Loved it. I love all the Bourne movies. I hope Matt Damon comes back, but Jeremy Renner did a helluva job and I like him.

2. Ted - Had some funny parts, just a silly movie. Liked the end where Patrick Stewart told what happened to everyone.

3. The Dark Knight Rises - I didnt enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I think the Bane character was dumb. Is it just me, did anyone else have lots of problems understanding what he was saying? I just didnt care for this one. The very end, with the possibilities may be the best part.

4. Expendables 2 - Didnt really care for this one either. Ya lots of action, and I like the actors. I think the story just sucked. I did like the first one though.

5. Brave - Loved it. Great story and great characters. Fun and adventurous. I love animated movies.

6. The Avengers - Enjoyed the story, enjoyed the characters, enjoyed the action and FX. It seemed to start out kind of slow and i almost got bored, but finally got into it.

Flight

A powerful film about a pilot that struggles to come to terms with his alcohol addiction. Stars Denzel Washington, John Goodman, and Don Cheadle.

The Man with the Iron Fists

A martial arts film starring hip hop artist The RZA, Russel Crowe, Lucy Liu, among others. Fairly straight forward martial arts film.

Redline

An anime about intergalactic road racing. Intense action. Incredible animation. High-energy soundtrack. If you like anime, I'd recommend it.

Django Unchained

This one is being considered Quentin Tarantino's best work to date. I agree, it is very well done, but I must also admit I had a difficult time watching it.
