Controversial Hard Rock Opinions

Recommended Posts

Oh, and Mr. Big are great, and Van Hagar.

Also, and I think I posted a thread on this already.

DLR solo stuff is better than his VH stuff, easily.

Missed this one, but I get the point. Mr Big are very Van Halen-ish.

You could make a great EP from all of Van Halen's best songs. You could make a full album's worth of great songs from Mr Big. A superb disc, it'd be.

Racer X were very cool, but if I'm being totally honest there's probably more Mr Big songs that I truly like than Racer X songs. 'Sunlit night' is a monster metal ballad, though.

Racer X are for the bangers...if I never hear 'To Be With You'  again it'll be too soon.

Half of your favorite singers wouldn't even exist without DLR... The guy was a pioneer for a front man in the world of rock music period

Doesn't mean his music was good.
Everybody says what a great showman and average vocalist he is.

The Tony Martin fronted "Black Sabbath" is the best "Black Sabbath" by far. Hands down.

even Tony Martin wouldn't agree with that

If David Lee Roth circa 1980, Sammy Hagar 1986 and Gary Cherone (VH3) had a Fight Club Showdown then DLR would be knocked out first, followed by Sammy Hagar, with Cherone emerging the victor. It's true.

I'm literally talking about a bare knuckles fight here.

Wow. You lot are playing it very safe.

Warrant made some good music post Jani? Where's the controversy in that? And then, or course, everyone is immediately sidetracked when you so much as mention Van Halen, arguing over which era was better.

Here's an actual controversial statement: Harem Scarem's Voice of Reason is better than their debut.

Only you think this. A very lonely opinion.

Which would make it controversial. So at least his comment belongs here.

Judas Priest's Turbo album is one of their best albums despite their "fans" hating it, and it features some great, melodic songs and deserves to be in any discussion around great hard rock albums of the 80s.

I said Warrant made some GREAt music, not good.
I would assume that most people wrote them off after Jani.

Also HS debut is one of the best and VOR is great but a shadow on it.

Ozzy Osbourne should count himself very fucking lucky to get to where he got with a voice like his.

Lemmy must have been a great bloke, because as a singer he sucked.

Metallica had a few great songs, but other than that were just another shitty speed (or whatever) metal band who make boring music.

Metallica's 90s output was as good as any in the Hard Rock arena, but they kept being considered a metal band in that period of time. Metal fans may not have liked their 90s albums, but Hard Rock fans should relook at them through a hard rock lens. They might be surprised.

Definitely controversial opinions.

I love Ozzy's voice, and Lemmy's voice, which sounds like he is gargling gravel, fits his music.

Metallica are magnificent musically, even if they are shitty blokes.
