Bumpity bump...

It's Halloween season and the kids are getting into the spirit already (as usual)... they're going to be the Mario Brothers this year, and tried on their costumes yesterday. If I do say so myself (of course I'm slightly biased) I think they look awesome. :D

299889_2277554092311_1052500800_2729144_622916468_n.jpg

My Grandkids are living with us for a while. Both the boys want those costumes!! Where did you get them. Is everything their wearing included?

Cool, man! We got the Mario Bros. costumes at Wal-Mart last weekend. The outfit includes the hat, the body suit, and a stick-on mustache. They were $20 each.

My boys have been talking about going as Mario & Luigi for Halloween for months 'n' months now so I was glad they were so easy to find (and relatively cheap). I mean, they started telling me "We wanna be Mario Brothers for Halloween!" back in like March or April of this year. Haha. When we found these costumes in the store I had to make sure, I sez to 'em "Are you SURE this is what you wanna do for Halloween? Cuz once we buy these, there is no changing your mind," and they were like "YES YES YES!" Haha.

This'll probably be the last Halloween where we can get 'em to wear "matching" costumes (last year they were Scooby Doo and Shaggy, and the year before they were both pirates)... my older boy will be 10 years old next year and I'm sure by then he'll be too "cool" for it and he'll want to do his own thing. :D

Cool, I'll let my son know. We have a Walmart about a mile away. And they just opened a Halloween USA up too. :)

Geoff, give me premission to print your pic off and hang them in my house so I don't have to go buy decor!!!

kidding, but they are just amazing everytime I see you post them.

Thanks mate. Sure, feel free to hang them in your house - that'd be awesome. :)

Haha. I agree, mate. They'd look much better printed on the front of a T-Shirt. ;)

Geoff, you truly do have a gift... Spectacular shots!

:agree:

Wife and I as Velma and Shaggy at a recent party. Seems harsh that Shaggy stayed slim despite eating all those enormous sandwiches for years, then suddenly put all the weight on:

Pugs? What are they?

I got as close as I could to the clothes, grew the silly little round beard, but couldn't manage to lose half my body weight in time for the party, so we had Obese Shaggy. Kids went as Fred and Scooby.

That's great! I saw the pic and immediately thought Shaggy & Velma. I think Geoff maybe meant to say Scooby?

Cheers mate, the missus did a good job as Velma and I did the best impression of a skinny bloke with a little round beard that I could.

I've tried to persuade her to get Velma-ed up for me again, but she's not having it.

 I picked those shorts up literally the weekend before we left for a few dollars in a surf factory outlet. It wasn't that I actually really liked the shorts, it's just that in my size they were honestly the only pair they had, and they were cheap as hell. Don't get me wrong, I kind of dig them in a gay/awkward way, but I'd not deny someone the opportunity to comment on how homosexual thay might come across. ;)

Bumpin' a seriously old thread here but this is kinda cool.

As some of you know, I live in a rural corner of New Jersey where encounters with black bears are fairly common occurrences. I've had 'em walk across my yard (or get into my trash cans) numerous times over the years, but without fail EVERY time I've seen a bear I've never had my cell phone or a camera handy to snap a pic. Well today was finally the day!!! I was picking my kids up @ their school bus stop around the block this afternoon and on our way back thru the neighborhood we saw a Mama bear and two of her cubs in one of the neighbors' front yard. I had my cell phone w/me so I pulled over, rolled down my driver's side window and snapped off a couple of pix.

Tried to get a shot of the cubs but they were up a tree and there was so much shade that you couldn't see them at all in the photo. Oh well, next time!

Nice work, mate. Great pics.

Are they quite tame (i.e. tolerant of humans)? Even during day time?

And possibly a stupid question - is that a tag on its ear, or just a patch of light? I'd be interested to know if they tag these babies.

They're pretty used to people, and are usually more scared of us than we are of them. If one is in your yard, most of the time a shout of "HEY! SHOO! GET OUTTA HERE!" will scare them off.

I don't think Yogi here had a tag on him/her/it when I took this pic, but there are programs in the area where bears are tagged/tracked so they can be studied.

  • My Little Pony

5840642847_57e4e7f126.jpg

Your cat is really cute. It looks a lot like my cat, Edan, who I had to put to sleep last Friday morning. You become attached to pets...huh...? Every morning I still go right to the pantry to get food to feed Edan.

Take care of that little kittie.

Yeah, he's a good little kitty, and I appreciate every day he's around to throw his paws in our faces as we sleep. We got him in 2003 when he was brought into my wife's work (she's a vet nurse) after being hit by a car, or attacked or something. No one knows, but he was in bad shape. A few tests also found he had a heart condition. At the time my wife asked if we could take him in. She let me know about his condition and that he'd need 2 tablets every day for the rest of his life and wasn't likely to make it more than 2 or 3 more years because of his heart. I knew it'd crush me, but my wife had become so attached to him at work. I remember the first day going in to see him, and he was still so battered. Very sad. sad.gif And he was so nervous and scared of anything and anyone. Still is to this day to a degree. Not sure he ever got over whatever happened to him completely.

It's actually kind of cool because it's like my wife and I are the only two people in the world he fully trusts, which is friendly. He's okay around my parents and family and friends, but he's still so shy and usually hides away. So he's just like our own little private kitty. smile.gif

Anyway, getting carried away, but 8 years later (and we still have no idea how old he is - he still looks identical [minus the wounds] to the day we got him!!) and he's still around, being as cheeky as he can. Taking swipes at the pups everytime they pass, snuggling up on our pillows and in our faces overnight... pawing at us if he feels like it. Yeah, he's a good little kitty.

Dood, if he's got a heart condition, should he really be drinking?!! ;)

Honestly, Geoffery, it's been a pleasure to watch you grow as an artist. Although your early photos are no longer visible, I remember the quality then, and the quality of your most recently posted photos is significantly greater. I'mma stop now before I get too gay, 'cause I know how that turns you on, and the distance between us is too great. I can't go through that, again.

Also, what ever happened to Faust? Anybody hear from him? I'd love to see more of his photos. Does he have an online profile?

Another also, I realize I never did get around to posting anything here. If I recall correctly, it was to big a hassle to create an account for storing the files, and I probably gave up. Maybe I'll do that soon. But don't nobody hold there breath.

Blimey dude, not only is that some place awesome, but you could sell most of those photos as postcards - nice work.

Can I ask what camera you've got - we've been meaning to get a new one for ages. The thing which pisses me about our current one is just a little action or shake and the pic blurs :-(

Want one where you can snap away and everything's sharp - really important with kids cos they never stand still lol. Also how do you get soft focus - is it long shutter speed??

    • Reset - Runaway Heart I can’t find a damn thing about this band on the interwebs! Does anyone out there know of a website or FB page for them? Is there a CD coming out?    @Mr.AOR @Stefan @Geoff @heavyharmonies
    • Lots of positive reviews coming out Pearcy’s performance at this years M3 festival in Maryland.    Vocals: Stephen Pearcy  Drums: Blas Elias Lead Guitar: Johnny Monaco Guitar: Erik Ferentinos Bass: Matt Thorne
    • I hate that Collective Soul is considered alternate. When they were popular they were promoted as active rock, which I'm not sure what that is but it sounds a lot closer what they do than alternate rock. To me, alternative is REM and Pavement and the like.
    • The reason I mentioned Alter Bridge and Scott Stapp's solo stuff is because I don't think it's too far off from Creed. Myles Kennedy obviously has a more dynamic voice than Stapp but musically they're very similar. At the end of the day as I've said I love this site and if Dan decided to strip it down to the bare bones and build a site from the ground up starting with Journey and Poison and I would still support it.
    • I get the idea of keeping the site pure but if you look at the genres of music on HH listed on the site not even all of them fit into the AOR/Melodic Rock sub genres and if you submit a cd there's even more categories. If the site was strictly AOR & Melodic Rock it would still be an amazing database but it's also, sleaze, glam, southern rock, blues rock, hard rock and modern hard rock and there's a lot more to those genres to explore.
    • My two cents... This site's database was probably the single biggest factor in me getting into the AOR/melodic rock subgenre, and I was like a kid in a candy shop for a while because I knew *almost* every artist on here would appeal to me and fit what I was looking for. Finding new music you enjoy is one of life's greatest pleasures and for a while this site was my go-to. I'll always be grateful to Dan and the rest of the contributors for that. That being said, I worry that it will lose a lot of that appeal if it just starts adding a bunch of artists that play rock music but do not fit in the AOR/melodic rock subgenre. There are a few bands on here that are already pushing it and if every artist with two guitars and a big snare drum gets admitted, what's separating this database from any other? We are all fans of a type of music that is quite "niche" these days but that's what makes the site special. tl;dr I vote no on all of them. I vote no on Creed twice.
    • There is always gonna be a fine line between what is an is not gonna cut the mustard on here. As I said before, Cornell is an amazing singer and the stuff he did with Audioslave was certainly deserving of a place on the site as there was so much 70s hard rock/metal to their sound. But Soundgarden certainly does not fit beyond a few songs here and there. And his solo stuff is all over the place genre wise. His James Bond theme, you know my name is one of my favourite hard rock songs of all time and if he had released a whole album in that style, I would whole heartedly support that being on the site, but as much as I really like his Carry on album, it just does not belong here. And I would be really against stuff like Pearl Jam and Creed not because I flat out hate them, but just because I don't think they really fit. There are bands I love I would not want on here, and there are bands I hate who I fully support them being on here (The Darkness for example). The other thing to consider, as it was mentioned by someone, it does not matter if certain members of a band have albums on here, that does not mean there other bands belong on here. Audioslave yes, Soundgarden and RATM, no. Scott Stapp (can't really comment) but Creed, no. Mother Love Bone, yes. Pearl Jam, no. And with some of the other bands mentioned, like The Cars. It's a slippery slope, as where do you stop? Should Dire Straits be on here? Bruce Springsteen? Huey Lewis? Mellencamp? All artists I really like, but don't think they have a place.
    • Really looking forward to a couple of upcoming releases as well. Maverick is sounding promising, and most hyped for The Warning as all singles released from that so far have been top notch. Plus there is the new Rolling Quartz EP on the horizon.
