Nice pics bud....but I swear by this formula

PUGS + BUNS = YUM

A bun being a bread roll (not someones arse) or whatever the godforsaken lands outside of the U.K. call them.

Like this?

Hey Geoff

You're welcome my friend. Im glad to help you.

As long as you take picture with a digital camera, the editing process with Photoshop (or Gimp or whatever) is highly recommanded if you want to improve your shots.

A tripod is essential in low light conditions... As much as a remote controler :-)

Yeah, I look forward to hopefully trying out a few new techniques over the weekend. I'm actually pretty excited about trying this. And as luck would have it, I do have a remote control too. :)

Now, I just have to work out how to take the 3 seperate shots in quick succession, each with a different exposure. I just checked on the net and it looks like our camera does have the Bracketing option, which I will have to learn how to use asap. :) Thanks again.

To echo what others have said, awesome photos Geoff. Do you ever get any decent pics of birds? I'm really into birds and probably won't get to Australia for another 4 or 5 years to see your native species, plus will have my intolerant wife in tow when I get there, so interested to see if you've got any snaps...

Mate, I can have a look around. It's not something I generally photograph, and they're far from easy to actually take a good photo of, but yeah, I have a few snaps of birds around the place. We get a lot of cockatoos and lorakeets (sp?) in our trees at home and I've tried a few snaps of them here and there. Billions of awesome birds down here, mate, if you have the time and patience. :)

My silly little kitty has really snuggled up with us over winter. I wish I'd got a photo of him the other day - the entire queen bed was empty after my wife and I got up and there was just this little kitten head resting on one of the pillows, with his cheeky little body under the covers. Jeez it was cute, but he moved as soon as I reached for the camera. Same colours as your kitty, Keef.

It was the little guy's 3rd birthday this past Saturday (has it really been 3 years already? Good Lord...) so on Sunday we took him to Toys R Us to blow the $25 gift card he got from his Grandpa. While shopping the kids were fascinated by this totally bad ass life size "Star Wars" Clone Trooper made of Legos. The sign sez it took something like 165 hours to build and used somewhere in the neighborhood of 50,000 bricks if memory serves. Pretty damn cool!

LOL ! This reminds me ... !

This picture was actually taken 4 years ago (agreed, time fookin' flies ... !) in Legoland here in Germany. My 3 daughters and an elderly friend made from Legos. Quite a massiv chap as well ... !

Way cool, Swazi!! My older boy is a total LEGO Maniac, I'd love to take him to the LEGOLand here in the U.S. but it's all the way across the country in California. :(

There is a newly opened LEGO Store in one of the local shopping malls that I've been meaning to take him to. I'm almost afraid to though, cuz if he's surrounded by that much LEGO stuff he might just explode.

When my kids were looking @ the life size "Star Wars" guy, he told me "That's really cool Dad, but I don't think I have the patience to do something like that."

Unexpected Horror Movie Geek moment today. Took my kids to the local Boy Scout headquarters to pick up some supplies at the "Scout Store." They had a big display of vintage Scouting memorabilia in the front lobby and lo and behold, what do I find smack in the middle of it:

This is an actual "Welcome to Camp Crystal Lake" sign used in the original "Friday the 13th" movie, which was filmed at a real Boy Scout camp in Blairstown, NJ (Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco). How freakin COOL is that?

    • Lots of positive reviews coming out Pearcy’s performance at this years M3 festival in Maryland.    Vocals: Stephen Pearcy  Drums: Blas Elias Lead Guitar: Johnny Monaco Guitar: Erik Ferentinos Bass: Matt Thorne
    • I hate that Collective Soul is considered alternate. When they were popular they were promoted as active rock, which I'm not sure what that is but it sounds a lot closer what they do than alternate rock. To me, alternative is REM and Pavement and the like.
    • The reason I mentioned Alter Bridge and Scott Stapp's solo stuff is because I don't think it's too far off from Creed. Myles Kennedy obviously has a more dynamic voice than Stapp but musically they're very similar. At the end of the day as I've said I love this site and if Dan decided to strip it down to the bare bones and build a site from the ground up starting with Journey and Poison and I would still support it.
    • I get the idea of keeping the site pure but if you look at the genres of music on HH listed on the site not even all of them fit into the AOR/Melodic Rock sub genres and if you submit a cd there's even more categories. If the site was strictly AOR & Melodic Rock it would still be an amazing database but it's also, sleaze, glam, southern rock, blues rock, hard rock and modern hard rock and there's a lot more to those genres to explore.
    • My two cents... This site's database was probably the single biggest factor in me getting into the AOR/melodic rock subgenre, and I was like a kid in a candy shop for a while because I knew *almost* every artist on here would appeal to me and fit what I was looking for. Finding new music you enjoy is one of life's greatest pleasures and for a while this site was my go-to. I'll always be grateful to Dan and the rest of the contributors for that. That being said, I worry that it will lose a lot of that appeal if it just starts adding a bunch of artists that play rock music but do not fit in the AOR/melodic rock subgenre. There are a few bands on here that are already pushing it and if every artist with two guitars and a big snare drum gets admitted, what's separating this database from any other? We are all fans of a type of music that is quite "niche" these days but that's what makes the site special. tl;dr I vote no on all of them. I vote no on Creed twice.
    • There is always gonna be a fine line between what is an is not gonna cut the mustard on here. As I said before, Cornell is an amazing singer and the stuff he did with Audioslave was certainly deserving of a place on the site as there was so much 70s hard rock/metal to their sound. But Soundgarden certainly does not fit beyond a few songs here and there. And his solo stuff is all over the place genre wise. His James Bond theme, you know my name is one of my favourite hard rock songs of all time and if he had released a whole album in that style, I would whole heartedly support that being on the site, but as much as I really like his Carry on album, it just does not belong here. And I would be really against stuff like Pearl Jam and Creed not because I flat out hate them, but just because I don't think they really fit. There are bands I love I would not want on here, and there are bands I hate who I fully support them being on here (The Darkness for example). The other thing to consider, as it was mentioned by someone, it does not matter if certain members of a band have albums on here, that does not mean there other bands belong on here. Audioslave yes, Soundgarden and RATM, no. Scott Stapp (can't really comment) but Creed, no. Mother Love Bone, yes. Pearl Jam, no. And with some of the other bands mentioned, like The Cars. It's a slippery slope, as where do you stop? Should Dire Straits be on here? Bruce Springsteen? Huey Lewis? Mellencamp? All artists I really like, but don't think they have a place.
    • Really looking forward to a couple of upcoming releases as well. Maverick is sounding promising, and most hyped for The Warning as all singles released from that so far have been top notch. Plus there is the new Rolling Quartz EP on the horizon.
    • While I enjoy listening to some of those bands, I'd vote no on including any in the HH main database.  Especially the ones I'd classify as grunge (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden and Mudhoney) or alternative rock (Live and Collective Soul) as for me those are the antithesis of what I consider a HH artist to be.
