some recent movies I've seen

Black Sea - nice movie with Jude Law, about sunken WWII gold. Fans of submarine flicks like Das Boot and K-19 Widowmaker might enjoy this one..

Triple 9 - nice crime drama

Blood Father - with Mel Gibson, an ok movie, not as good as his older movies like Payback or Edge Of Darkness..

Hell or High Water - nice movie about bank robbers,

War Dogs - fun movie about gun runners

13 Hours (2016) - this is the first really good flick about the conflicts in the middle east...the rest that I've seen have been crap...definitely recommended...

Criminal (2016) - all star cast in this well done action film which got no publicity as I had not heard of it...

Sicario (2015) - I am rather tired of movies about cartels/drugs etc...but I'm glad I finally checked this film out as it was worth my time

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them ... a pretty good addition to the Potterverse ... and Mr. Depp will have something to look forward to when 'Pirates ...' runs its course ;)

"Predator" (1987)

Arnold Schwarzenegger leads a team of commandos into the South American jungles on a rescue mission, where they're targeted by a technologically advanced hunter from another world. Will anyone make it out alive?
I saw "Predator" during its theatrical run in '87 (good Lord, that was 30 years ago!) and it's still my favorite Schwarzenegger movie - mainly because for juuuuust a little while it looks like Ahhh-nold might actually lose. It's been quite a few years since I last saw it but "Predator" is still holding up very well.

"Predator 2" (1990)

This underrated sequel drops the alien big-game hunter into the urban jungle of Los Angeles, where he lands in the middle of a turf war between rival drug dealing gangs and tangles with a tough L.A. cop (Danny Glover). "2" is not necessarily better than the first "Predator," but it's certainly bigger, louder, and splashier, with lots of machine gun fire, explosions, and breaking glass. It also has a great supporting cast that includes genre faves like Robert Davi, the late Bill Paxton, and even sleaze-TV legend Morton Downey Jr. as ... a sleazy tabloid TV reporter. "2" hasn't aged as well as the original but it's still entertaining.

"The Executioner Part II" (1984)

A shell shocked Vietnam vet goes vigilante and starts killing muggers and rapists on the city streets. Yup, that's the whole plot.

This flick is legendary in bad movie circles for its total ineptitude in pretty much every department. The story is non existent, the acting/dubbing/dialogue sucks and the "action" scenes are hilariously awkward. I've seen porno with higher production values and better performances than this.

Fun fact: there was no "Executioner Part I." The producers hoped that fans of "The Exterminator" w/Robert Ginty would be suckered in by the similar sounding title and think this was a sequel to that film.

  • My Little Pony

Rogue One

Ridiculously excellent, easily superior to the amazing The Force Awakens and slides gracefully into the 3rd slot in the franchise!

There's simply too much nostalgia in the first three films that nothing will ever top them, so Rogue One slid into slot four for me. And then A New Hope II. ;}

OH I 82% agree with you on that and if Jedi would have ended halfway through or actually if the Kasdan scribes Revenge of Said Jedi would have happened than no doubt! Jedi loses it in the second half nostalgia or no nostalgia, courtesy of Lucas' cash grab mentality.

#1 Empire

#2 A New Hope

#3 Rogue One

#3.5 first half of Jedi

#4 A Force Awakens

#5 Jedi (if judged on the entire film)

#6,7 an #8 all the others. :)

Yeah me too.
Without the first one, there wouldn't be the others.
I remember seeing it at the movies and being blown away.

Today I saw 2 movies.

Mutiny On The Bounty 1935 version. Was actually pretty good, but makes me wanna watch the Mel Gibson version again

Batman Vs Superman. Probably one of the few people on earth to see this twice, but I like it.

That said, damn it's made in a very confusing way for the first hour...

Watched Contraband with Mark Wahlberg last night. Wound my partner up by moaning about the lack of 'moral' ending to the thing. Hahaha. It was a very stupid movie!

haven't watch it, but got a soft spot for some silly action movie and always think that a movie don't always have to have a moral ending right ? :D

True, I shouldn't take it too seriously. It was fun action in its way just right for a lazy evening. just annoyed me you were meant to sympathise with the main characters and I was thinking of the poor security guards and members of the public they'd caused the deaths of during the movie who were obviously considered collateral damage

First one will always be top for me

I get you and don't disagree, I am splitting hairs when I put Empire above A New Hope. The story in Empire is just epic that's what edges it over A New Hope but A New Hope is priceless.

I should show my list with Hoe and Empire sharing the number 1 slot.

    • I was a pretty big fan. Nature Of The Beast is a killer song. Saw them with Dave Gleeson from the Screaming Jets singing and he did an amazing job, but pretty sure they have a new singer now  I recently went through the two most recent albums before this one and there were a couple of ok tracks, but mostly mid. Fun fact: I saw the Angels a couple of years before Doc died at the Middle hotel in Ferntree Gully and they seemed to hate each other. Pretty sure Doc said nothing to the crowd all night. Fun fact 2: when they were building the transit bar in Melbourne, a mate and I found a service elevator that went to the roof, which was under construction. After peeing off the roof, which is always fun, we realised that we could clearly hear the music 5 or 6 floors below from a DJ I think. He was playing Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. We started yelling down the No Way Get Fucked, Fuck Off bit thinking we were hilarious. Then soon we noticed people looking up, and for some reason they seemed to be clearly hearing us. Another mate then called us to tell us security were on the way up the stairs so we took the service elevator down and managed to laugh it off. Stoopid drunk story I guess, but fun days.
    • Cheeky, getting your artwork in there. I wonder how you did that.  I like the vocal track on #1 and that'd be my pick. I personally don't dig the female versions of songs, because I'm not a female (yet?) and as these are songs written by ourselves I personally feel the best interpretation is an AI dude voice taking the place of your dude voice.
    • Yeah, that's great but this is obviously an accomplished musician probably completely in control of this output... not done with Suno, I'd bet. There's definitely dudes out there who are perfectly capable of doing their own music, like this dude, but for whatever reason might not be able to put a project together, again, for whatever reason... but this definitely feels a lot more like AI feeling in the missing gaps for someone otherwise in complete control of what he wants.  Either way, it is very cool indeed.  As Darkstone says, I'm not sure paying is the way to get the best results. I'm also not saying it isn't, especially with other platforms that are not Suno. I think already knowing what you're doing, musically, is the best way to get best results, personally. Suno, for example, is just perfect for someone who might enjoy writing lyrics but is not in any way shape or form an accomplished (or even adequate, lol) musician.  But yeah, it's pretty cool for some fun. I'm not sure if you checked out my links above. Keeping them pretty quiet due to lyrical content, lol, but you might dig some of the stuff in my links. 'As the moment passes by' and 'I'll wait for you' are two of my personal faves. Along with 'Faith to fall.'
    • Yeah, musically it's what you want, but vocally... Maybe Alex should take some vocal lessons from Ken Tamplin. ;}
    • Your Eyes - Darkstone (2024) Two versions of my song number 6     https://suno.com/song/e8c1e85b-21ee-4d35-a64b-e786f00944d2   https://suno.com/song/9144c77a-bd7c-49c1-9508-f724d0832fdb
    • Yep, although I was never a massive fan.
    • Yes, celebrating their fifty years. There only two original members left in the band. Dusty might agree with me the Angels died when the original singer passed away.
    • It's just not the same without the Doc though...
