"Assault on Precinct 13" (1976)

The caretaker crew at an L.A. police precinct that's due to shut down for good in the morning spends a night under siege, battling against a seemingly endless stream of homicidal street gang members in John Carpenter's cult classic shoot'em up that's still holding up well after 40 years.

Better than the remake.

The remake wasn't bad, just unnecessary, if memory serves.

"Iron Maiden and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal" (2008)

A lengthy and thorough "unauthorized" doc about the NWOBHM and Maiden's ascent from front runners in that scene to global superstardom. Commentaries are provided by noted U.K. rock journalists like Malcolm Dome, Jerry Ewing, and Geoff Barton, and musicians including former Maidenites Paul DiAnno and Dennis Stratton, Brian Tatler of Diamond Head, and members of Samson, Praying Mantis and Tygers of Pan Tang.

With a run time of two-plus hours this doc took more than one sitting to get through and there were some surprising omissions (Venom was barely mentioned, and personal faves Raven were ignored entirely!), but overall this was a pretty cool history lesson.

"P2"(2007)

A female executive is trapped inside her office's parking garage after hours on Christmas Eve - thanks to a deranged security guard who's fixated on her. An effective, claustrophobic little suspense thriller with a great performance by Wes Bentley as the wack job. Also, Rachel Nichols has an impressive rack. Just sayin'.

Yes ... yes, she does. Pretty much the only thing I remember about the movie. :norks:

It's October... time to start OD'ing on horror movies! Woohoo! :homer:

"Autopsy" (2008)

After a traffic accident on the back roads of Louisiana, a group of twenty-somethings are taken to a remote, strangely deserted hospital… where a deranged doctor (Robert “T2” Patrick) harvests them for their body parts. An ultra-violent, extremely gory, yet also darkly funny splatter flick that is definitely not for the faint of heart.

"From Within" (2008)

A tiny church-centered Southern town is plagued by a sudden rash of suicides - and the locals believe it’s caused by a curse placed on them by a suspected witch. Two teens try to unravel the mystery before more of their friends die.
Cool, atmospheric creepy stuff, kinda like a Fundamentalist “Final Destination” movie...

"Christine" (1983)

http://youtu.be/O08w8CegEeg[/YouTube]

John Carpenter directs Stephen King's tale of the deadly love affair between a high school nerd and his dream car - a demonically-possessed 1958 Plymouth Fury.

This one takes a little while to get goin' but once it does, "Christine" is still one of the better King adaptations.

A couple of non-action inspirational flicks with Morgan Freeman that are well worth checking out if you have not already had the pleasure....

Lean On Me(1989) ....MF playing a principal cleaning up an inner-city school

An Unfinished Life (2005)....about a grieving father, played by Robert Redford who blames his daughter in law for his sons death, MF plays his friend in a supporting role

"Madman" (1981)

http://youtu.be/Q9Tj3TWrGZQ

A group of camp counselors make the mistake of mocking a murderous local urban legend known as "Madman Marz," and the axe-wielding backwoodsman re-appears for a fresh round of decapitations. That'll teach'em.

The story is obviously nothing to write home about, but thanks to the splashy gore effects and better than usual production values, this mostly-forgotten flick is a better-than-average entry in the early '80s "Halloween"/"Friday the 13th" wanna-be sweepstakes.

"Super Hybrid" (aka "Hybrid," 2011)

The night crew at a Chicago police impound garage is trapped inside with a sentient, shape-shifting, man-eating Death Car in a silly but entertaining blend of “Christine” and “Predator.” This “Hybrid” doesn’t rank very high on the horror scale but it’s got lots of satisfying car crashin’ mayhem. Fun stuff.

"Captain America: Civil War" (2016)

There's trouble in the Avengers' ranks ... the U.N. wants them to submit to governmental control, which leads to a split into two teams - one led by Iron Man, who want to work within the system, and the other led by Captain America, who want to stay "indie." Lots of punching, crashing, and stuff blowin' up soon follows in an all-action, all-the-time flick which also finds time to introduce the Black Panther and the new Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Lots of fanboy fun.

Central Intelligence

Missed the mark for me.

Weird movie because it didn't really know how to be funny, even though it followed a fairly standard formula.

Easy enough to watch, but forgettable.

Watched this as well and it wasn't bad but as mentioned in one ear and out the other. The Rock did play up the part of lovable lump though.

Death Race 2000" (1975)

In the dystopian future, America is a totalitarian state and the biggest sporting event of the year is the Death Race, where drivers in souped up killer cars go across the USA, scoring points by killing bystanders along the way.

Roger Corman's cult classic sci-fi black comedy features a great cast including David Carradine, Mary Woronov, and even a young Sly Stallone. This flick never gets old!

American Ultra-not bad for a recent yet unknown film about super spy stuff.

Space Station 76-watchable 70's space dramady that has potential but never really goes anywhere.

17 Again-Zac Efron plays the role of the dad that wants to go back and redo high school. Good stuff harmless and kid friendly funny.

Zoolander #2-for the 50th time, damn this is funny.

"Ghosthouse" (1988)

A mysterious ham radio signal (!) draws a group of curiosity seekers to an abandoned house which (naturally) was the site of several murders twenty years ago. Soon they discover that the house is inhabited by the angry spirit of a long-dead little girl and her creepy killer clown doll.

This Italian horror flick (from Umberto "Nightmare City" Lenzi) doesn't skimp on the gore, which is a good thing because it's the only thing that made it watchab!e. The characters are all idiots, the acting/dubbing sucks and the story and dialogue are a complete mess. A better title for this one would have been "Shithouse."

    • Added Framing the Red over on the main site recently: Framing the Red discography reference list of music CDs. Heavy Harmonies Their website: Framing The Red Their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/framingtheredband Their YouTube channel: (23) Framing the Red Official Page - YouTube They have four releases, and all are quite good in my opinion. If I had to describe them, I'd say this is what Gunshine would sound like if they went in a more southern rock direction.  Here are some of my favorite tracks... Crossroads   Whiskey & Weed   Holy Water   Mississippi Hippie   Heroes   Bonnie & Clyde   Rockin' Into the Night (38 Special cover)   "Crossroads" and "Heroes" are probably my two faves.  *I will give a word of warning:  if you decide to purchase any of their discs, they are barebones releases with just the CD in a cardboard slipcase. I enjoy the music enough that that's not an issue for me though.  @lettard @KarpetRydOFunk @tts42572 @AlphaMale @Dead Planet @Mr.AOR @tobi is an animal I think all of you gentlemen should give these guys a listen and see what you think.
    • H.E.A.T - 1000 Miles Vega - Hands In The Air The Defiants - Stay Issa - River of Love I'm at work right now so that's all I know off the top of my head but I'll look through my library for more when I get a chance.
    • Maybe anything by the Darkness
    • Wig wam - hard to be a rock n roller
    • Saw these guys first time a couple of years ago, when they were 16-17 years old, they are absolutely awesome. They have been touring for a few years now, performing their own songs, yet haven't released anything, until now. I have tickets to see them this saturday, opening for Mercenary. First single and video:
    • I want to compile quite an extensive playlist of hard rock songs that has a key change in the end. Why? Cause I think it sounds awesome Some well known exambles are: Bon Jovi - Living On a Prayer Wig Wam - In My Dreams Danger Danger - Don't Blame it on Love H.E.A.T - Beg Beg Beg
    • My Japan copy showed up today. I was critical of the Part I album as that one just did very little for me.  Basically, I just didn't think the songs were all that catchy and/or memorable.  I played that album a handful of times trying to get into it and gave up rather quickly which was disappointing as I loved Wired.  Maybe I just had too high of expectations or something.  I know many liked that album but for me at least, that Megalomanium I album would be ranked toward the bottom of their discography. Well, after hearing this new one, I'm feeling the opposite....Here I feel like they nailed it and I'm digging this one after the first listen.  I basically couldn't wait to start it over and listen again. The first 5 songs just come out guns a blazing with catchy, hook filled songs.  Yeah, we've heard 4 of those songs as singles but I almost purposely haven't listened to those songs much so they'd still sound fresh when the album dropped.  Then the one song we hadn't heard, All I Want, is just another upbeat, catchy tune. The 2nd half though is where things probably get more interesting.  Songs like Dive Into You and To Say Goodbye are the kinds of varied balladish/mid-tempo type songs I've been wanting Eclipse to mix things up with and there's 2 of those songs here, both very well done IMO.  Then there's a couple heavier tunes like Divide & Conquer and One In A Million that sound like stuff that could've been on Bleed & Scream.  And then a couple other melodic rockers with Until the War is Over and Pieces. I also feel like this has some of the better lyrics that Eclipse has had in awhile.  I think a lot of their material recently has been just been sort of lighter subject matter, 3 minute "simplistic" romps.  I felt Part I had a lot of that which kind of contributed to it being less interesting.  Here though, it seems like some of these songs get a bit deeper and can feel more emotion in songs like Still My Hero, Dive Into You and To Say Goodbye for example.   Anyways, where Part I is among my least favorite Eclipse albums, I'd say my early impression of Part II is that it'll be among my favorite Eclipse albums.
    • New song 'Unbreakable'.
    • Solid hard rock album. Nothing really stood out to me, but it’s solid.
