Which of these 85-86 METAL releases is your fave? :banger:

Damn man, you're killin' me with these tough polls... this one reads like the soundtrack to my high school career...

But after considering nearly everything on this list I still had to go with Metallica's MASTER OF PUPPETS -- their finest hour, methinks, it still sounds fresh today and I still love it every bit as much today as I did twenty years ago.

By the way, Whip, I believe that the VoiVod album title should be "RRRRRROAAAAAARRRRR," not "VoiVod." The self titled VoiVod CD (with Jason Newsted on bass) only came out two or three years ago. Just me being nit-picky :)

Whereas METALLICA & SLAYER ("Reign In Blood" rather than "Hell Awaits") were the landmark releases in terms of defining what was to follow, neither actually make great listening experiences these days & havent really stood the test of time very well. Leaving EXODUS, METAL CHURCH, & FLOTSAM & JETSAM for me. The latter 2 actually surpassed their debuts IMO ("Blessing In Disguise" & "No Place For Disgrace"), so - despite the utterly woeful production, & Paul Baloffs (RIP) pretty rough vocals, I'll go with: EXODUS "Bonded By Blood".

Good selection though - just missing TESTAMENT - The Legacy....

Armoured Saint - Delerious Nomad...loved that album, unfortunately my vinyl is pretty scuffed up due to lending it out so many times. I should get a new copy.

They may be everybody's favorite whipping boys nowadays, but back in the 80s, nobody did heavy metal better than Metallica, and "Master of Puppets" gets my vote. "Leper Messiah" still ranks as one of my favorite metal tunes. :banger:

Metal Church for me, what an incredible debut, still one of my top 20 albums of all time.

Some real classics in there though, 'Peace Sells', 'Crimson Glory', 'Somewhere In Time', 'Delirious Nomad', 'Master of Puppets' and 'Metalized' are all great, no, bloody amazing albums. 'Powerslave' is one of my least favourite Maiden albums, although it seems to be well-regarded.
