First match a bit of a pludder tbh

It feels so strange to be staging a world cup in November...hopefully as the better sides play the excitement/enjoyment factor goes up...still it'll help pass these winter nights til the Prem comes back

I'm guessing the non Aussies here aren't familiar with our win over Peru to get us into the World Cup.

It came down to a penalty shoot out.

Just prior to the shoot out, we substituted our goal keeper for Andrew Redmayne, a penalty specialist with a unique style.

He did the job and became an instant Aussie icon.

Not just for his style of keeping penalties, but his now legendary celebration.

He was anointed as the "Grey Wiggle".

It doesn't get better than.

I will be going for our socceroos until we go out in the group stage, then in the knock-out rounds I will be cheering for the Dutch.

I always like to see the Dutch do well.

Hopefully they can beat the Netherlands and their arch rivals Holland.

lol about Netherlands. My parents are both Dutch and they've always been my second nation in any world event, such at the World Cup. Don't have any plans to follow any of the soccer, but I'm sure I'll hear updates here and there and who knows? Even if I was interested I think the time difference makes it impossible for an Aussie to follow anyway, innit?

Cheerin' for Denmark naturally

Many consider them a dark horse in the tournament. I've seen some pundits having the Danes in the semis.

Best result so far was the quarter finals in 98, where we lost out to brazil, so a semi-final spot would be considered a succes. It's only the sixth time we are a part of the World Cup.

Auslander, do you see who's carry the flag?

Some might argue, best Socceroos great Tim Cahill.

That would be when we won the Asian Cup I think.

gotta beat Argentina in the last 16 first.

My wife's half brother is Danish so I always cheer them on but I fear the argies might be too good.

Not atm 10 minutes into 2nd half of their first game :) don't think anyone seen that coming? Still think they'll get a result in the Saudi match currently taking place though tbh

    • Yeah, sad news. Even though she was a quiet achiever in that group with Stevie getting most of the attention, she sings Lead on two of my favourite "Fleetwood Mac" tracks. "Little Lies" is a Killer. R.I.P.
    • For me, "Run-D.M.C." in '88 on their "Tougher Than Leather" tour when I was 16. A bit left field, but I loved these guys in my early teens. They weren't afraid to embrace Hard Rock guitars in their music.
    • I was there too mate. You can't beat the atmosphere of a concert "in the round". I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.
    • Keep a lid on it
    • This one looks like a fun ride....
    • I keep sticking with the band but my initial thoughts are that this is basically hookless. I sure hope this was just released as the first single cause it is loud and fast and isn't considered the best song on the upcoming album.
    • GENERATION LANDSLIDE (Cold Sweat / Lillian Axe members) – Ruling The Street Scene (2022) online sources · NOVEMBER 28, 2022     Comprising former members of both Cold Sweat and Lillian Axe, Las Vegas’ hard rockers GENERATION LANDSLIDE release their debut album ”Ruling The Street Scene”. Fronted by Anthony White, formerly of Cold Sweat and Cold Gin, GENERATION LANDSLIDE is a whirlwind of ’80s and early ’90s-influenced American-style melodic hard rock, complete with big hooks, singalong choruses and a feel-good vibe that continues throughout the entire ”Ruling The Street Scene”. Produced by White, the album kicks off with the ferocious ‘Little Miss Lonely’, then ‘Feel the Sensation’ follows with heavy gang vocals telling the story of finishing your day job and feeling the anticipation of going wild from seeing your favourite band in concert that night from a spiritual way. ‘Love and Pain’ relates the ups and downs in every relationship and the emptiness of being alone and ‘Are You Out There?’ is a tribute to the late Thin Lizzy bassist Phil Lynott.
