you dudes must be listening to different albums to me. Pretty much this and RS are carbon copies of each other. it makes no sense that someone would dislike RS but like this album or vice versa.

Had a bit of a Deen day, yesterday. Generation Radio, Gioeli - Castronovo, then Rev Saints.  This song is still so good. It's a shame the rest of the album didn't live up to it.

This album did not age well at all. Another Frontiers one-off that sounded exciting at first but had little staying power. Glen had it right...

I think this was originally to be a solo release by Johnny.  He had a Pledgemusic campaign to help fund the album.  I recall Johnny mentioning Deen was guest drummer, so maybe that turned into some songwriting collaborations?

I'd pay nearly any asking price for a legitimate HARDLINE follow-up (with all original members and original style).  The debut album is so damn good.

I remember first hearing (and seeing) them when they opened for Mr. Big back in late summer 1992 (I think it was 1992?).  Dude's rolled onto the stage and I remember thinking "Okay, that's Neal Schon."  This was pre-internet days, kids, so news and information (like this) was hard to come by :)

I've not been impressed with any of the so-called Hardline CD's since the debut... Adding Deen to the mix gives me optimism for this one, however.  Anyone know exactly why Joey Gioelli hasn't been involved with the band in 25 years?

Yeah, the original Hardline album is literally one of the best releases of the last 30 years. Essential.

I doubt it will be anything near that, given the softer Hardline tone that subsequent releases have taken, but one can dream...

And Deen seems to be a bit of a softy, too.

I still think it'll be good. Whatever it turns out to be.

Hardline and Roxy Blue certainly helped get me through the 90's... or what I call "The Dark Ages."

What about the guitar player does anyone know if he played in another project before?  I think I recognized the guitar from an Issa video a few years back, could be the same guy

Johnny had mentioned on his Pledgemusic updates a few weeks back that the guitarist on the album was Eric Gadrix who he added also did some co-writes.  I think they used someone else for the video shoot.

Actually, please disregard my last post about guitarist.  Those pledgemusic updates were just in regards to his solo album. At first I thought those sessions morphed into this release with Deen.  However, I just read on Johnny's FB page that this album is separate from his solo which Eric Gadrix is the guitarist and Deen is guest drummer on a few tracks for the other release

      I'm happy the do different stuff. Otherwise what they do would get old. Tesla proved how easy it is to make and album have a def Lep feel. And I loved that album, as a one off. And I loved slang as well. Variety is the spice of life 😁

      I agree. Ultimately, I think bands become sort of what they "really" want to become and move toward the "mean" so to speak.  Leppard always said that they wanted to be like Queen in that they weren't constrained by having to make certain types of songs.  It was probably that desire to go outside the box that allowed Pyromania and Hysteria to happen in the first place.   And it's probably what's caused them to jump around with different style songs throughout the years.  I think it would've happened that way regardless.   Who knows though.  Maybe Steve would've influenced things a little bit as his Led Zep and Jimmy Page influences might've trickled in more.  And who knows what could've happened if Mutt stuck around for a couple more albums too....he was probably the most important piece in the puzzle.  They were already changing lanes though even with Steve and Mutt in the fold.  I think they've still shown they're capable of doing more classic sounding stuff if they want to with songs like Promises, Paper Sun, Dangerous, Take What You Want, etc being a few examples.    Either way, I'm just happy they've kept it going for nearly 50 years.  It has to be tough staying inspired and coming up with new song ideas for that long so that's kind of why I think the course they took would've naturally happened either way.
