the band KISS on the backcover of NIRVANA's -Nevermind!?!?

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of its release, an article popped up on Yahoo today about 5 facts that people don't know about Nevermind from NIRVANA. One fact was that a picture of KISS is on the back cover, hidden in the orange colour of the monkey photo.

The KISS - Love Gun cover

After 20 minutes of squinting, I spotted them.

If you look over the monkey's head, between the backpack thing on his back and the first half of his head you'll barely make out the Love Gun band photo. Ace on the left is the easiest to make out.

If you can't see it in the photo, pull out your old Nevermind cd....just kidding about HH members owning the cd...shit! I actually do own it. I was 16 when it came out and was easily influenced by others.

The band photo is easier to make out on the actual cd than the photo from Google I pasted.

Probably the coolest thing about the release for many here on HH.

All o' y'all can bite me. NEVERMIND was (and still is) a great rock record.

Now that I've said that... had no idea about this hidden KISS thingy in the album artwork. That's pretty rad.

*EDIT* I only have a cassette of NEVERMIND so I have no hope of finding the hidden KISS image in the "monkey photo" in the tiny-ass cassette insert ... I tried for a little while (with and without my glasses on) and eventually gave up.

It is.

On A Plane is amazing!

I still say that if Cobain and company looked like LA Guns instead of loggers the general consensus of this cd would be stageringly different...

doesn't matter what they looked like, the vocal's grate on me. no matter how the music is (i don't know, never heard it) the vocals just don't do it for me at all.

It is kind of the same with The Darkness. the music may be good but the voclas just grate on people and no matter how good the music is the vocals turned away alot of could have been fans.

If you've never heard it, how do you know the vocals grate on you?

who hasn't heard Cobain sing? he was all over the place. never gave the music a chance because I coudn't stand the vocals. didn't take the time to invest in listening to anything beyond what I heard on MTv or radio because the vocals turned me off. never invested in listening to an album to hear if the music was any good.

i like this album a lot, but in general, i hate grunge, it's just that this record is heavy and weird and it's not like the typical grunge like Soundgarden or Pearl Jam, but then i was 11 at that time it's out, so it's pretty acceptable if senior guys didn't dig it, especially when they're the one who destroyed heavy metal, hard rock, and glam back then lol

Leave it to gene to have a hand in destroying his own kind of music to make a dollar! what a fucking wanker!

My intention wasn't to start a love/hate bitch fight over Nirvana. Just the fact that one legendary band photo was 'hidden' in another lengendary bands artwork and the fact that I knew nothing about this for 20 years, was cool.

Not your fault. It happens every time that band gets mentioned 'round here...

Eh?

What the hell does what a band looks like have to do with how they sound? I couldnt care less if LA Guns danced around in pink tutu's, Motley Crue dressed in clown suits or Poison wore business suits with top hats, all I care about is what they sound like.

Nirvana, apart from 4 or 5 songs, not only looked like something that came out of my arse, they also sounded like something that came out of my arse.

Horrible band, and thankfully the true talent in it benefited from Cobains death and learned to smile as well. Not what you would call a Foo Fighters fan, but I have utmost respect for Dave Grohl and how talented the guy is.

And for the record, I do own Nevermind, but thankfully I only paid £3 for it, which was good as that paid for the few tracks on it that I did like, as the rest of the album was a big steaming pile of shite.

Oh, it's time to spin this album again!

Btw it's hard to believe that Kurt's little daughter looks like this nowadays... time is passing so fast.

Please meet Frances Bean Cobain:

:yikes: That came out of Courtney Love? Damn.

Yeah, the Howd-scallop beat me to it, but I can only verify this with a stamp mark of my testicles.

Even when the bands we did love in the era (Warrant and Dokken etc) started doing this shit the general consensus is that they sucked dog bollocks. If I went on image alone I would probably listen to about 5 modern rock bands as most of them, especially the pop/rock/punk types look like a group of gay school kids.

But none of this has ever mattered to me. If the music's good I pay attention regardless of what the band look like. If the music is shithouse, regardless of what the band look like, I hate it. And Nirvana sucked. ;)

Pearl Jam are celebrating 20 years (since they formed) and deserve a lot more respect that Nirvana IMO, especially as the PJ20 film is awesome and they made some great music. Soundgarden too. Nirvana, apart from a few tunes, were shite.

A miserable death to all 3 bands mentioned there. Sadly, I think of the 3 I'd probably listen to Nirvana over the others if someone forced me to listen to one with a sharp object to my eyeballs.

F*ck me that was such a dreadful era of music. All those bands are as bad as the other. I think I hate Pearl Jism the most.

I was thinking to myself the other day how when I go to a melodic rock band concert I always feel like a kid around the grandfathers around me, and then when I go to the modern rock festivals I always feel like the grandad of the day. I'm always, for the most part, pretty far out of the average age group when I go to a concert. Why is this so? Because the music made in "my era" which would be the 90's, was so f*cking disgraceful I'd sooner listen to the echo of my balls slapping against a toilet bowl.

Yeah look don't get me wrong, I wouldn't say I'm a fan of any of that stuff really, it's just that there wasn't anything else to listen to at the time so I went with the most melodic/tuneful bands I could find. That's probably why I don't mind some of the post-grunge Modern Rock around these days.

Yeah, I think we're actually a similar age group. I actually had 0 interest in any music when I was at an age when most people are really into their music, just because, I assume, it was so bad. It wasn't until I made an effort to look beyond what was "in" at the time that I discovered good music had once actually existed. And thankfully it still does.
