Winter Olympics 2022

Is it even worth starting a Winter Olympics thread? My daughter likes the figure stating so I suspect I will be watching more of it than I had planned. 

Is anyone here gonna watch?

Not a chance in the world, cob. What was the last event we discussed... I guess the Tokyo Games? If possible, I have even less interest in the winter ones. Out of curiosity, where are they being held and is it a giant mask and covid show? Any crowds?

That's about it.

If an Aussie is competing, I have a slight interest.

Having said that, I found myself watching Australia vs China in "Curling" this afternoon.

Interest subsiding.

tricky for me to watch live as it's Beijing but I do enjoy the downhill. half-pipe, and icehockey so I'll catch some of it.

Why is Curling in quotations? Is it not actually Curling? Am I missing something?

Perhaps it is casting doubt on Curling being a legitimate sport. Perhaps it should be reclassified as housework on ice.

Just a comment on how ridiculous of a "sport" it is...

and also, as you may have noticed, I like using the old "quotation marks".

Putting the term quotation marks in quotation marks is pretty Meta BTW, you have to admit.

I'm glad. I hate sports getting political. Might be in the minority on that but I don't believe in sport boycotts for political reasons.

The biggest issue is the criminals running the IOC....if they had an ounce of sense or decency the greedy bastards would not award any games to countries with human rights issues....I don't believe in a boycott for the simple reason that the athletes who dedicate their lives to representing their countries deserve the opportunity to compete...

Skiing, ice skating, curling, hockey...... all things that don't interest me.

Especially figure skating.

Not really. NFL , NCAA football and MLB mostly. Not a NHL or NBA fan. Casual fan of NCAA basketball.
