Tearjerkers

Recommended Posts

The pianist is who also doubles up the vocalist in X Japan.

The Edguy boys are very funny bunch, done an in-store at shop I help out. Boss bought a slab, shock horror the boys didn't drink a single can. The workers or slaves were happy.

Do they not drink at all, or was it just shit beer?

Nice choices, mate. I'm a gigantic fan of that Bon Jovi song too, and agree it's arguably their most emotive. Although it was a big hit single, I also really, really love 'Lie to me' - that one tugs at the heart string too.

yeah agree, that's why 'These Days' is such a spectacular album. I think 'Silent Night' is also one killer ballad and the overplayed 'Never Say Goodbye' and 'Bed of Roses' are also beautiful, probably fit in this category too

Casanova - I don't get the same as you get from that one, I must admit. Not with 'Love lies' and 'Seal it with a kiss' to compete with. Those two hit the spot far more for me, personally.

yeah for me, that one is a special song, and also 'The X-tra Mile' is splendid too. I love 'Love Lies' and 'Seal It' but they're rockers so not sure if that'll make a good tearjerker haha

What album is that Edguy song from? I don't know it, but it seems quite nice.

Theater of Salvation, one of their best album but it's still very power metal so i'm sure don't suit you but that ballad is definitely their best for me

Yeah, I agree that is actually a pretty great GN'R song.

yeah totally

That Steelheart song always got to me too. One I could have posted in this thread myself.

that song was written for his late Mama, a classic !

Never heard that X Japan song and I can't get past the foreign vocals, but I will say, the chorus is very nice. Dude has a good voice when he's singing in English. The pianist in the clip is an annoying drama queen, but it'd be a nice song if it was all in English.

X Japan is extremely huge in Japan and many other countries as well, the pianist and also their drummer, Yoshiki, is one of the most talented guy, he's behind their music but yeah sometimes he's a bit over the top haha but that's his style. When their guitarist died in 1998, the funeral procession is probably as big as Michael Jackson. They have another ballad called 'Forever Love' and it's also a great emotional song too and was performed on his funeral. Try the youtube for their ballads like 'Say Anything', 'Endless Rain', 'Crucify My Love', 'Longing', they're all also very good.

Just found an English rendition sung by Katie Fitzgerald (not sure who she is) with Yoshiki on piano

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iH0RVDafOc

and this one is English rendition with the original singer, Toshi on their reunion concert back in 2010 I guess

Musically the Indo song was nice, but can't get into it at all in a language I don't know. And is the production that awful, or is it just an old low quality clip?

yeah it's the clip, they sound just perfectly fine on album. This is another better version of it, performed live in 2012

in case you want to know the meaning of the words, here it is, got it from the internet,

translated by someone, a bit patchy because the song is kinda poetic but quite okay

Now it’s time to understand
The storm inside my heart
I’ve been trying hard to find
Long-lost desire
That you took away

Would you please stay for a while
And let time passing by
To watch all my tears running dry
Been longing for years
To get back again
All our hopes and dreams
Will there be another chance?

Love will always bring you back
To be here by my side
Restore good-old time
Wash away all pain
How I really need you back
Do things we used to do
Take care each other
Like the way we were

When lies tearing us apart
It’s not too late to mend
No need to regret what’s been done
Leave it all behind
And start brand new day
We’ll walk hand in hand
There’ll be no more hesitate

—————————————–

Tiba saat mengerti
Jerit suara hati
Letih meski mencoba
Melabuhkan
Rasa yang ada

Mohon tinggal sejenak
Lupakanlah waktu
Temani air mataku
Teteskan lara
Merajut asa
Menjalin mimpi
Endapkan sepi-sepi

Cinta ‘kan membawamu
Kembali disini
Menuai rindu
Membasuh perih
Bawa serta dirimu
Dirimu yang dulu
Mencintaiku
Apa adanya

Saat dusta mengalir
Jujurkanlah hati
Genangkan batin jiwamu
Genangkan cinta
Seperti dulu
Saat bersama
Tak ada keraguan

Oi Aussies, we forgetting Angry's Suddenly

Trying to forget.

Here's another reference only the Aussies will understand,

I was actually in the crowd for the infamous Bound for Glory AFL "Batmobile" performance.

I think i did cry a little bit.

Didn't see this mentioned, but as far as sad songs goes, it kinda takes the cake.

Written about his 4 year old son after he fell from a 53rd floor balcony.

Spot on.

When you think how emotional some songs can make you, you can only imagine how he must feel when he performs this one.

Pearl Jam: Black

... I'm such a softy!

My first thought too. Especially this bit:

"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,

I know you'll be a sun in somebody else's sky, but why

Why, why can't it be, can't it be mine"

Gets me every time and Ed Vedder is on point and has never sung with more emotion.

And in a similar vein Mother Love Bone Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns. That first verse: "Chloe is just like me, only beautiful".

Ok, that is one hard song to listen to! I often skip it, and not because its bad. Great album!!

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you 100%. Deeply moving, but not something I'd hope to ever hear again... and again, not because it's a bad song. But that is way too sad to put yourself through. Definitely takes out the title for the point of this thread.

I had to reconsider my previous answers and thus I dedicated a whole week to listen to some of them + others I've remembered during the whole procedure.

Still these 3 bring me tears-I figured out already the reason, but it doesn't belong to this topic:

Dire Straites - Telegraph Road

Heaven's Edge - Hold On To Tonight

ABBA - Winner Takes It All

Hold me now, I think I might be dying
I'm not ashamed to say that I am frightened
Hold me now, I used to heal like lightning
Are yours the last eyes that I'll ever see
Staring into me?

[Pre-Chorus]
Was I just because
A mistake in love
Two people who stop trying enough
Don't want a brand new life
This one's just right
Why would I throw it all away?

[Chorus]
Won't you hold me now?
Just before I stop breathing
I know I promised I wouldn't leave here without you
Please, don't let me go
While they play the last song ever
The last chance to hold each other forever

Hold me now, I've still got words worth hearing
I just wanna be a human being
Hold me now, we all know what I'm fearing
I think I see the light, am I disappearing?

[Pre-Chorus]
Was I just because
A mistake in love
Two people who stop trying enough
Don't want a brand new life
This one's just right
Why would I throw it all away?

[Chorus]
Won't you hold me now?
Just before I stop breathing
I know I promised I wouldn't leave here without you
Please, don't let me go
While they play the last song ever
The last chance to hold each other forever

[Chorus]
Won't you hold me now?
Just before I stop breathing
I know I promised I wouldn't leave here without you
Please, don't let me go
While they play the last song ever
The last chance to hold each other forever

[Outro]
Hold me now
Remember how we were at the beginning

There's just something about this one that gets me.

The powerful strings, the very profound lyrics and the sense of "longing" it evokes all combine to create an emotional song.

Very aptly titled. Get a few beers into me, put this on and i'll turn into a blubbering fool.

For me it's also about the memories associated with this one.

I wish I could work out what it is about a song that can make me cry.

I know there are some that I literally can't sing through without tearing up and it must be something to do with the specific harmonies or chord runs.

Wind Beneath my Wings regularly does it for me before I've finished the 1st verse.

I Only Want to Say (from JC Superstar) does it before the intro is finished, especially if Ted Neeley is singing.

There's tiny passages midway through Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers and Beethoven's 6th Symphony which are just so emotionally charged I get the prickle behind my eyes when I know the music is building up to them and Albinoni's Adagio which someone mentioned earlier was one I never used to be able to listen to right through without welling up.

:fun_84:

....then again I'm sure girly's tend to cry a bit more easily anyway - I cried uncontrollably after reading the trial transcript of King Charles the 1st for goodness sake. What was that all about????

Plus the Bjork movie Dancer in the Dark sent me a bit weepy for a few days, so much so that my husband suggested I don't watch art films any more as they seem to send me a bit weird, lol! :tsk:

  • My Little Pony

I'm a hopeless romantic. A stuttering poet. Just call me a tragic comic.

Songs like Whitesnake's "All I Want All I Need," and First Signal's "When November Falls" always get me.

These lyrics, matched with David Coverdale's weathered voice, just slay me:

"I remember the days when we were young

I held your hand like a precious stone

It's still the same nothing's changed

Baby, I'll never ever leave you alone

When I look in your eyes I realize

All the love that I feel is true

And everything that we've been through

Baby, it's worth it just to be with you"

A special message from Serafino Perugino, President of Frontiers Label Group: Dear friends, I am thrilled to announce the creation of Frontiers Label Group, which will umbrella Frontiers Music Srl and further labels, the first of which is our new imprint FLG. This expansion allows us to diversify and strengthen our position in the rock and metal landscape, while continuing to uphold the values that have guided us since the beginning. We are excited to bring more news and announcements in the coming months as we continue to grow and expand Frontiers Label Group, our imprints and our roster of incredible artists. • Added Framing the Red over on the main site recently: Framing the Red discography reference list of music CDs. Heavy Harmonies Their website: Framing The Red Their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/framingtheredband Their YouTube channel: (23) Framing the Red Official Page - YouTube They have four releases, and all are quite good in my opinion. If I had to describe them, I'd say this is what Gunshine would sound like if they went in a more southern rock direction.  Here are some of my favorite tracks... Crossroads   Whiskey & Weed   Holy Water   Mississippi Hippie   Heroes   Bonnie & Clyde   Rockin' Into the Night (38 Special cover)   "Crossroads" and "Heroes" are probably my two faves.  *I will give a word of warning:  if you decide to purchase any of their discs, they are barebones releases with just the CD in a cardboard slipcase. I enjoy the music enough that that's not an issue for me though.  @lettard @KarpetRydOFunk @tts42572 @AlphaMale @Dead Planet @Mr.AOR @tobi is an animal I think all of you gentlemen should give these guys a listen and see what you think.
    • H.E.A.T - 1000 Miles Vega - Hands In The Air The Defiants - Stay Issa - River of Love I'm at work right now so that's all I know off the top of my head but I'll look through my library for more when I get a chance.
    • Maybe anything by the Darkness
    • Wig wam - hard to be a rock n roller
    • Saw these guys first time a couple of years ago, when they were 16-17 years old, they are absolutely awesome. They have been touring for a few years now, performing their own songs, yet haven't released anything, until now. I have tickets to see them this saturday, opening for Mercenary. First single and video:
    • I want to compile quite an extensive playlist of hard rock songs that has a key change in the end. Why? Cause I think it sounds awesome Some well known exambles are: Bon Jovi - Living On a Prayer Wig Wam - In My Dreams Danger Danger - Don't Blame it on Love H.E.A.T - Beg Beg Beg
