Two versions of Great White?

Its the same old story, two different 'truths', both leaving the fans as the biggest losers.

 

Is Jack 100% clean? Maybe, ,maybe not. But who are we to judge?

Is the band lying through their teeth? Same again, who knows apart from the band and Jack.

All that matters is that Jack is the voice of Great White, so no matter how many original members are in the other version, it just isnt Great White.

 

As time goes by we may see more of the truth, but for me, considering the band initially used Jani Lane as a stand in for Jack, I dont see how drugs can be an issue.

As with everything there are two sides to the story. The question is who's side is closer to the truth? After seeing what Jack looked like in 2010 I can see how the band is eager to move on with someone stable. The guy's voice is totally shot, nearly as bad as Don Dokken's. He is in horrible shape and has been for over a decade. Many times he appeared to be simply going through the motions onstage. I've seen the band 3 times in the past 10 years and I have always ranked them near the bottom out of the bands I have seen perform simply because of him.

 

I am sure the band would not have said what they did in that press release if it wasn't true because that would be an INSTANT lawsuit, and Obi Steinman may be many things but he is no dummy. I will be surprised if Jack even gets a band out on the road next year. This is almost turning out to be a replay of the whole Jani Lane incident, and I hope for Jack's sake it doesn't end the same.

so on and so on. Great White can carry on without the singer that made them famous. things happen and sometimes it is the singer that is gone from the band. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Terry oughta just wipe his hands of this mess and do another XYZ record.That said id support an album with him on mic-the guy is seriously underrated.Best of luck to Jack though no matter what he does.

Agree 100%... In the grand scheme of things this doesn't less the accomplishments of Great White. Great White had a great ride with Jack and released a boatload of great tunes. First and foremost I hope Jack's heath has improved and that he is well enough to tour. As far as Terry's version of Great White, I wish them the best. I've had the pleasure of meeting Terry on a number of occasions and he is a great guy. I'm sure this whole thing has been stressful on him as well. I've seen Great White with both singers and have no trouble supporting both as long as both give 100%.

 

As far as the name "Great White".. Who cares? It's all about the music to me.

I agree with you. A new XYZ perhaps will be killer, but probably he had done a lot of thinking that XYZ won't be selling much these days and more people will see Great White more than XYZ, so the cash is more on the GW side.

Gotta chime in on this thread. First off, Jack and Kendell are Great White. I've been lucky enough to see them 8 or 9 times over the years. I've met them both, Jack twice. Very cool guys. Never seen a bad show. It pains me to see them split. But if I had to choose, I'd go to a Jack show hands down.

 

I just hope he has his stuff together and is on the road to recovery.

Last time I saw Great White with Russell they flat out SUCKED. Maybe Jack can turn things around and get back on track.. We'll see.

Jack Russell of Great White hires another Great White, attorney at law Michael Kelly

 

 

Jack Russell, lead singer of the famous rock group Great White, has retained the services of The Law Offices of Michael Kelly to protect his rights to make his living and play under the band’s name that he founded in 1978. Mr. Kelly has represented high profile rock stars in disputes for more than 35 years.

 

Although Russell has had several public battles with addiction and his health, he has always been the lead vocalist for Great White, and any other vocalist involved was there only to fill in until he was able to return. It has never been stated, in public or private, that Russell was leaving Great White permanently.

 

After several discussions with Great White management, in December 2011 Russell decided to continue as the lead vocalist for Great White, without the current touring members. He has brought in former members of Great White, as well as other musicians he has worked with previously, and in order to avoid any confusion, will be touring and performing under the name JACK RUSSELL’S GREAT WHITE.

 

Although the current touring members of Great White came out with a statement saying that they were “shocked” by Jack’s decision, it has since been discovered that prior to any conversations or correspondence with Russell, they filed an application (of which Russell’s name was omitted) to trademark the band name Great White, of which Russell was the founding member, and the only consistent member since its inception. This information was discovered by Russell’s legal team, and he was never informed of this by the other band members or management.

 

Along with attorney Michael Kelly, Russell has hired the legal team of Brian Acree and Brenda Carey, and all proper legal actions are now in motion. The Law Firm of Carey & Acree is praised among industry insiders for their expertise in these sorts of matters and have begun taking the necessary legal actions. He has also enlisted the help of his longtime friend and legendary entertainment attorney Stan Diamond. Despite threats, defaming and untrue comments made by Russell’s former band members and manager, he has every right to use the name of the band he founded, and no legal actions can be taken against anyone booking, promoting, publicizing, or working with Jack Russell’s Great White in any capacity, and all entities will be indemnified of such.

So is Terry Illous going to be playing in both Great White and XYZ this summer? If so he is really going to be busy because all of the XYZ pages say the band with Terry is doing a 20 yr reunion tour this summer.

It appears that Terry will be doing both this summer. I guess when you have a healthy vocalist you can pull this off. XYZ will be at M3 in May. Looking forward to that show.
