Hell's Corner- David Baldacci

I actually finnished that book a couple of weeks ago. Not the best of the the Camel Club books but Baldacci's books are allways enjoyable,,,

Anybody listening to Audiobooks here. Ron Maclarty is a great reader (he usually reads the Baldacci books)

Started a new "Star Wars" novel that I picked up @ the library last week - "Death Star," by Steve Perry (no, not the ex-Journey singer, obviously) and some other guy whose name escapes me at the moment. It takes place before the events of the first film and tells the story of the creation/construction of the famed Death Star and all the skullduggery that went on behind the scenes. So far, so good. Nice to see old-school characters like Grand Moff Tarkin and of course Darth Vader again.

Yes, I'm a geek. Don't bother pointing it out. :D

I readed books on my vacation:

Rachel Papers - actually really ended up digging this. Turned out to be tops. Very Bret Easton Ellis-ish at times.

The Informers ; Bret Easton Ellis - I remember hearing about BEE doing a short story book, but I totally forgot. Read this with the 100% belief it was a novel and I was 100% all like wtf the whole way through, but loved it anyway. Nothing related or made sense from chapter to chapter, but I assumed it was just BEE being out there. Did not realise it was short (unrelated?) stories till I read 'Lunar Park.' But yeah, I enjoyed it, even as a totally non-sensical novel. lol. There were enough characters mentioned every now and then I thought it was somehow linked, just amazingly vaguely.

Tera Patrick - 'Sinner takes all' ; loved this one. Not quite as good as the Jenna book, but not far off. Only negative was she didn't quite go into as much detail about her life in porn as I'd have ideally liked (because she was still married as she wrote it, I dare say). Also, she came off looking very silly in the end, but I commend her for leaving the book as it was rather than editing it. To explain, she wrote the book while she was still married and spent the whole last chapter saying how she was living proof you can be in a relationship in porn and that it can really work and that porn is just a job etc. Then it turns out the reason she split from her husband was because she gave him an ultimatum that it was her or his porn career. He chose porn. So it was all a little contradictory at the end, but props to her for keeping it honest. Great read.

Lunar Park - Bret Easton Ellis ; totally going to go there and say I did not like or enjoy this one iota. Totally boring normal "horror" kind of story which bored the living shit out of me. Without an ounce of doubt the best part of this novel, by miles, was his / his characters outline for his new novel called 'Teenage Pussy.' ZOMFG do I wish he'd just published that book instead. Yeah, I don't know what it was - the biography at the start was cool - but the novel was just awful. Well written and all that jive, just can't explain how uninterested I was in it. Very annoyed I forgot 'Glamorama' and messed up my reading order of all my Bret Easton Ellis novels. :)

Just started:

'Glamorama' ; Bret Easton Ellis

Shame about that BEE Geoff. That guy could write the ingredients on cereal boxes and i'd enjoy it...

Recently finished: Breathless by Dean Koontz. A real page turner up until the end. :( Anyone familiar with Patricia Cornwell will understand.

Currently plowing through Cell by Steve King, yea I've given him enough of my $$$ to be on 1/2 name basis. Good read so far. Course who doesn't love a good zombie-esque book?

Have you read 'Lunar Park?' I've loved everything else I've read from him, and ordered 'Imperial Bedrooms' for delivery soon. I love his writing style, but the problem with 'Lunar Park' was that it was so normal, for lack of a better word. I much prefer reading thinking, 'wtf?' rather than picking out exactly what happens next at every turn in 'Lunar Park.' Love his work... just not that one.

I got you and that is one of the reasons I like BEE and yes I have read Lunar Park and rather enjoyed it, but again I am a fanboy. :)

Let me know what you think of Glamorama. Good read, definately out there and very Ellis-esque.

Reading 3 different books about the Wild West. Really interested in this subject, fascinating characters like Sam Bass, Clay Allison, King Fisher, etc.

So I just finished Cell by Steve King and the book was quite good til the end... Why must we ubruptly stop with no closure, no anything? Frustrating. This book took a good swath of pages setting up characters and then out of know where the book is done? Could have easily went another 500 pages ala The Stand.

CUrrently reading Horns by Joe Hill. Starting off well and the tale telling is quite good. Let's hop he doesn't pooch it at the end like so many others of late.
