I have to admit that kind of excites me. They can’t continue dishing out output in the style of their recent releases, tarnishing an absolutely brilliant legacy. It must end at some point.

Not hoping or expecting anything like their 80s albums, but they released plenty of great songs from ‘These Days’ until ‘Lost highway,’ admittedly less with each release. But they proved there was life after the 80s in the Bon Jovi camp. Hoping they can recapture some faint piece of that. Though, without Sambora it’s not really “proper” Bon Jovi, is it?

I'm the opposite to Geoff. Not excited at all. I HATE country Bon Jovi and I bet it is the same shit. I can't see any chance of getting an album like their first 5. I mean anyone who still calls themselves die-hard Bon Jovi fans based on their last 25 years must enjoy the crap he keeps dishing out release after release.

I'll check it out but have no expectations, haven't liked an album by them since These Days... although there is the odd cracker of a song.

I remain scepticle going on the last couple of albums that I really did not like, but I also retain a glimmer of hope just out of respect for their past work.

All that said, I really could not give a shit what Hughs wife says as there is blatantly gonna be bias on her part. If Jon just decided to shit in a bucket and send it out as a new album, she would say it's great I am sure because her husband probably provided the undigested pieces of sweetcorn that adorn it.

As for Mitch, he does believe anyone who dislikes anything by Bon Jovi is a "hater".

I am certainly not a "hater" as I love the band. But I am also not some kind of blind fan who accepts any old crap a band puts out. I don't care if it's Jovi, Crue, Poison or Pretty Boy Floyd, if they release a dog of an album or a song that makes my ears bleed, I will be honest and give my true feelings, not suck on their extra long teets.

Fuck me, I am starting to sound like @Geoff

Absolutely 0% chance of anything like their first five and anyone who expects that would be a pure madman. I also don't believe there'd be anyone who expects that.

But 25 years is a broad brushstroke. 'Crush' had a couple of cool songs, as did 'Bounce,' with 'The Distance' being a highly regarded BJ track... by myself, at least. 'Have a Nice Day' is easily their best album since 'These Days' are a far more than decent album. I even really love a couple of songs on 'Lost Highway' too... and had no idea Dann Huff produced so much of that album. After that it's not so pretty, but it's definitely not 25 years of absolute shit.

Yeah obviously everything is down to personal tastes, but while nothing has been as good as the early days, I do think everything from These days to The circle has had some absolutely fantastic songs on them (with the exception of this Left sounds shite). And I even like a few tunes off What about now, but for me Burning bridges onwards has been utter dog eggs.

2020 was so bad I waited until it was dirt cheap before buying it, something I have never done with a Jovi album before, and I still think I over paid.

I actually put together a Jovi playlist last night, and its amazing how many latter day songs were in it.

Just had a quick look in my archives and although I can't remember it too well off the top of my head, it looks like I actually quite liked 'The Circle' too. Especially a few tunes. Nice. I definitely didn't enjoy 'What about now' onwards, though.

First single, "Legendary", releases in March...

I always tend to get at least a little excited when a new Bon Jovi album is announced, but the last nearly 30 years have not been kind. As has been noted already, they have the occasional killer tune, but for the most part, it's been one disappointment after another. "These Days" was their last release that I thoroughly enjoy.

Lyrically speaking I hope this isn't Jon waxing poetic about how legendary he is after a 40 year career.  Also don't sing about brushing your teeth and then repeat the word legendary over and over again.  Musically speaking Jon has completely lost the plot so I'm guessing this will blow, everything is just so neutered sounding nowadays.  It will also take a lot of studio magic to make that voice sound good, he never sounded worse in studio than on that terrible christmas song that was just released.

I was the same....Or used to be until the past couple albums.

I always kept holding out hope they'd get back to doing stuff closer to their earlier stuff but they just keep moving farther and farther away with every release.

I'm willing to at least give the opening single a listen though out of respect for what they once were but my expectations are basically non-existent.

It's just such a shame....These guys used to be right there with my favorite bands back in the day and I even found some songs on HAND, Crush and Bounce I remember liking well enough.  But there's been nothing at all on the last few albums for me.

When Bon Jovi toured Australia I think 4 years ago all the women in my office at the time were arranging to see him. They all liked his new stuff and werent fans of the 80s output. It seems his main fanbase these days (pun intended) are women aged 40+ and he writes his music for this fanbase. Fair enough. But not for me.

People been saying for ages he is the house wifes choice. Sadly he still has his diehards who will accept anything he does, so he really does not care about those of us who are not interested anymore. Just so long as his house wives and blinkered fans still buy his stuff.

Crush, and Have a Nice Day are my two favorite "new era" Bon Jovi albums. The last few have been major skips. Although This House is Not for Sale wasn't bad. Probably the best since Have a Nice Day. I'll listen, but I don't have high expectations at all

There's no chance anyone - let alone modern day Bon Jovi - are going to make a good song called 'Legendary,' so I've already written that one off. But here's hoping there's better stuff on the album. ;)

Phil X has been doing some interviews, where he's said this was written and recorded as a band, as they felt their last few albums were missing the spark of a live band and weren't very guitar centered.

He said the new album they've turned up the guitars and he's been writing alot with Jon to make it more guitar focussed.

So, we'll see...

Either way,, i'm not sure how they'll salvage Jon's voice...  the last album where his vocals sounded halfway decent was Burning Bridges.

Burning bridges was not really an album though, it was just a collection of older songs they did not use on albums, hence the reason certain parts of the song (backing vocal chant) were used over multiple songs. I think most of these songs were from What about now and maybe The circle sessions.

They're nice words and there's a lot of truth to it. I'm sure I said something to this tune in the past, but if Jon wants to create the shit that's been dished out on the last few Bon Jovi albums, I genuinely have no issue at all with that. His life, his choice. But his name is Jon Bon Jovi. If he releases that kind of stuff as solo albums, anyone who's interested is still going to take notice and having been down that route before, I wish he'd just done that; released this recent stuff as a solo artist. And then, if his fellow band members want to be noticed and put some guitars on an album, sure enough, fire up the Bon Jovi engine again.

I have no idea what the new album will sound like, but assuming it does have some guitars again, I remain extremely cautiously optimistic that it'll be at least worth a listen. Something that can't be said for the last few.

Imagine the irony if Bon Jovi released a great hard rock album again and kick started a revival of the genre. Oh how I'd eat my words (and gladly so).

According to Jon, new album releases in June.
In the meantime, here is a live performance of “Legendary “.
Ugh, pretty much exactly as expected.  I don’t hate it, but yeah, housewives rejoice! 😜

The Summer Set's attempt wasn't bad.

Agree.  Don't hate that.  Don't overly like it either though lol.

Frankly, probably about as good as it's going to get from these guys at this point.
