Just thought it was funny because you said they sounded like Ratt, will have to check em out but underneath one of the pictures it said something about ''NWOBH''...... Wraith have been around (in various incarnations) as long as... well, almost as long as Ratt, lol. The band I knew (around 1990) was pretty solid but not amazing metal. I'm sure at one point they were NWOBH too. But they've been around so long I'm sure they've tried everything. They hit the nail on the head this time, though. Even if it took them 30-40 years. PeterS
Just gave that Wraith a go. Pretty good. Reminds me more of Night of the Crime period Icon. Which is a good thing.
Captain Howdy
No particular order, and excluding EP's: Midnite City - S/T Pretty Boy Floyd - Public enemies Santa Cruz - Bad blood rising Alice Cooper - Paranomal H.E.A.T. - Into the great unknown Falling Red - Lost souls Adrenaline Mob - We the people L.A. Guns - The missing peace Tragedy - The joy of sex Stone Trigger - Ghost There was a whole bunch of other great albums, but most of them either did not quite live up to my expectations or just did not hook me like they should have. Honourable mentions: Hell in the club, Wayward sons, Hells addiction & Tales from the porn. Biggest disappointment (although I did like it, it was just not as good as anything they have done before) Steel Panther
grissolm
10 hours ago, Geoff said: Good mentions. Wraith will definitely be in my top 10, and Bloody Heels will not be far off. I've been a bit out of the forum scene this year, but I feel like these two have been a little under-rated. Two fantastic albums. As a fan of 80's commercial hard rock, Bloody Heels is like a lost Silent Rage album, and Wraith is like a more metal version of Ratt... so damn good. Both of those CD's blew me away. First the Bloody Heels: Wow some kids from Latvia with awesome production and songs from the late 80's/early 90's. Just fuckin' great. Then at the end of summer this other group I never heard of, Wraith also comes out of no where and delivers something awesome with typical hard rock from the 80's sounding kind of like RATT. Those are the kind of surprises I'm always looking for.
Glen
listened to Bloody Heels today but I struggled with it. it's the sound I like but the songs were oddly arranged and some of the lyrics didn't seem to fit the song structure. Infact I gave NFO's Amber Galactic a listen just a couple of days back after the song Gemini had blown me away. And even though am not a fan of 70s music era or anything that sounds like it but I must admit NFO is damn good. Musicianship is top-notch. Songs are very catchy. I gave this album a miss when it came out as I read in a thread that they sounded similar to Cats in Space (Mr. Heartache was the only song I liked off their debut but the rest did nothing). But to my surprise, am really enjoying this album. Gemini, Josephine, Jennie, Something Mysterious etc - so many good songs! I think this is their best release yet. And it's awesome. I Thought Crazy Lixx's Ruff Justice would be in everyone's top 5. The album is flawless with all killer tunes.

Unfortunately I didn't (and won't) even bother with 3 from your list, including the top two, lol. But some good interesting stuff there. A few of the things that just stand out personally for me; Surprised by the position of Revolution Saints. Unfortunately I was really quite underwhelmed by this one. Past 60 in my list at the moment. Boulevard - I do get it because I know you're a super fan, but if I was underwhelmed by RS, I was very underwhelmed by this. But yeah, I do get it based on your commentary on this band on the forum. Brother Firetribe - I'd find it interesting it was so high up in your list... but instead I just find i insulting that it's before Midnite City, lol. To each their own, but production and vocals aside, to me one of those albums showcases the almost the most blandly written collection of songs in 2017. The other features the most exciting (even if not the most original). But cool list, thanks for the read.

The Night Flight Orchestra 8. H.e.a.t 9. Degreed 10. Brother Firetribe Mine is definitive, no changes.

NFO - this is just a slice of genius imo. the songs, lyrics, flow (with the French interludes), just magnificent. but I totally get you need to be a fan. I tell you what though they have garnered huge support online with this album. loads in the mafia group with it in the top 10 and a few with it at No 1. big Euro tour too. a real success story 2. Threshold - just majestic prog. but there's always a central themed chorus to every song. melodies, harmonies, solos sent from heaven. And back to Mac era quality after a couple of hit and miss albums. 3. Rev Saints - surprised me too. but I returned to it on my re-listens and I realised that it is basically 7 flat out melodic killer rockers and 2 dreamy ballads. DA is on fire as well. every solo just rocks. yeah massive and could even be higher. I just love it. HUGE step up. 4. Boulevard - it's my go to chill album and thats why its so high. just played it loads of times. classy. 5. Brother Firetribe - bland? a couple maybe but mostly it's big bombastic AOR! They were great live as well which I think helped to elevate my enjoyment of this album. and most importantly it's varied..............which is why I rated it higher than - 6. Midnite City - I really like this album, I do. hence why it's in my top 20 (i listened to over 75 albums this year and some great ones didnt make it)....BUT. yes production is flat, songs are wayyy too samey for my liking and it's just not as memorable as some others (still struggle to recall any songs off it). so there u go. all good though (I mean Midnite City is an easy 80%) and a great year in rock

Crazy Lixx is awesome. to be honest any of the top 10 could change places on any given day. I've just played the ones above a few more times. I REALLY struggled this year to separate these releases. Glen
ok so I listened to Code Red. Nice but very safe melodic rock. what puts me off this is that the rhythm guitar is virtually mixed out of the sound. non existent. compared to say Eclipse which is pure guitar driven and to the fore. just a bit safe for me. In it's defence it does grow a bit. I'd still tend to agree with you more than saying it's anything special, but I have noticed a few times as the album gets repeat spins that I've found myself glancing down at the Ipod to see who is responsible for this very nice song I am unfamiliar with. So it hasn't stood out for me, but the songs appear to sink in well with a few spins.
