Hiding your addiction

Recommended Posts

I don't know if this is an old thread because I'm too lazy to look. Has anybody ever hide c.d.s from their wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, life partners, friends, pets, the midget that lives down stairs from you that keeps winking at you whenever you walk bye  ?

Lets put it this way, If I was PINOCCIO, My wife would be IMPAILED with my nose :yikes:

I left packages at work, in my car, rushed home before the little lady came home, left them with neighbors. I'm sure some of you have stories and that I'm not the only scumbag here....or am I?

I know what you mean. I used to before we lived together but there about 4500 of them so I couldn't hide them if I wanted to. Still sneak in a few CDs here and there due to the "do you really need any more of those" comments.

YEP!

Same ole story!

Just because my wife doesn't have a hobby, she has to put mine down....(BITCH :thppt: ).

I keep mine in my loft which has a spiral staircase, so she doesn't go up there (AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT SHE TELLS ME  ). If she did go up there, I'm sure I would get a blow to the head with a very large object :hammer: .

I FEEL YOUR PAIN MY BROTHERS!!!! :beerbang:

I must be lucky with 11,000+ quantity quality all silver pressed cds my wife knows about my collection actucally encourages me to by more she says as long as there is love in the house and bills are being paid on time (both issues are fine) I can contine to buy cds its better than the alternative doing coke, drinking and hanging out at tittie bars. The only problem is that soon I will run out of space in my space bedroom.

Unfortunately I'm too lazy to try to hide it since my wife does the finances in my house. My motto is it is easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission :P She knows every dime I spend.

I don't purposely hide my purchases from her, I just don't always tell her when I've made one. My wife's name is on the paypal account, so everything I buy using paypal comes to our house addressed to her. Sometimes she will see the package and just say "So what did I buy now?".

There's no way of "hiding" my CD collection from my wife as it literally takes up half the space in our home, and she is home before me 4 out of 5 days in the week so she sees every CD that comes through the mail... and frowns with disappointment each time. But my CD habits have been far less excessive these days, and the way I see it my buying a few CDs here and there is no different to her buying some shoes and clothes (two things I have not bought for myself since I met her, except for our honeymoon in Thailand) so it's okay as long as I don't go overboard. Our only problem is that we still have separate accounts and she is positive and I am thousands of dollars in debt. That's her main issue with my buying CDs.

At the end of the day, though, if I do get home before her any day of the week and there are CDs in the mail, there is no need to report my new acquisition. :D

I do this everytime I hit the cd store. I'll hide them in the trunk (with the donut tire), under the seats or where ever else I can find a place. When she leaves the house I'll sneak them in and try to fit them in a stack so she won't realize it's gotten a little bit bigger.

Sometimes it's like my wife knows where I'm at. She'll call me on the cell and ask where am I at (like she doesn't know from the music blasting in the background). It's no use trying to hide them when I get home.

She just doesn't understand. That's why I don't give her shit when she buys that 181st pair of shoes that she likes. I'll even buy them for her. It's like my get out of jail free card!

HEADBANGER4LIFE!

I like your style!! :headbanger:

When I go to the record store, I leave my phone in the car. I have an hour drive back to my house to think of an excuse. But it's like she knows :yikes: When I tell her I spent $30.00, she knows I spent $60.00. I gotta find that detective she has trailing me

Some funny stories here!

I will tell you that if my wife had her way, she'd sell them all!! LOL..........and buy jewelry and clothes!! LOL The good thing is....that I do not give her any limitations on what she can buy for herself, etc. so it would be very difficult for her to bitch about my cd buying habits, etc.!! But I certainly understand where you guys are coming from when you're hiding them, etc.!!

It all sounds like my wife's sister who is a .........well.......I'll just say she's a 'shopaholic'!! LOL.....and she will bring home packages and packages...and hide them....and then.....take them back in a couple of days. BUT.....some things....ok...a LOT of things...she keeps!! For instance.....she doesn't have one set of dishes....or china....or glassware. No........she has 8 sets of dinnerware....and 3 sets of fine china....LOL...and at LEAST 12-15 different sets of glasses, etc.!! LOL Talk about excess!! LOL So....everytime I see my wife buying a new diamond ring...or necklace...or whatever, I always thank God she's not like her sister in that regard!! LOL

The answer is YES I try to hide my CD purchases when they come in the mail, thank GOD she doesn't keep track of what I have. Although she did catch me spending some coin when I purchased my Night Ranger collection on disc...OH BOY was I in trouble, I had to give her sex for a week.

Yes, but would your wife be getting quality-quantity sex? Or just quantity??

You know it'd be both. My silver pressed penis knows no other way.

    • This band does absolutely ZERO for me.
    • Love it!  Very new-breed DRN... I don't normally dig that type of thing from my favorite 80's bands, but I'm good with it here.  Once again, Daiker is all over this one. Look at Mel slide into everyone of those notes on bass.  Dude is SOOOOOOOOOOOO damn good.  Such a shame he's virtually unknown outside Portland, Oregon (and a those of you in-the-know for this type of music).
    • The guitar-work is great.  I think it's a pretty decent cover. Look, I've been a HUGE fan since 1983, so you'll be hard-pressed to get me to say anything negative about this band.  Those of you who weren't around to see them on the Pyromania and Hysteria tours... God I feel badly for you.  "Top of their game" is a HUGE understatement.  The Beatles of my era for sure.
    • Only point I was looking to make was that I agreed with the prior post above which had mentioned being frustrated that the guys hadn't put out many new releases over the last 15 years and that it may be beneficial to work with a better producer again.  Your follow up post pointed to the time between their earlier releases being similar and I responded to explain how I felt that was different, no worries though, we just see things differently
    • Inglorious indicated a few months ago that they had finished recording the songs for their third album, hinted as being heavier than their prior releases, which should be released via Frontiers in February 2019.  The first song/video from the upcoming album is out now https://www.planetrock.com/news/rock-news/inglorious-say-heavier-third-album-is-done-and-reveal-release-date/
    • From 84 (the year after Pyromania) until 99 they released 4 studio albums, yes, but from 2000 until 2015 they released 3 studio albums, not 2. Not really that much difference. They also released the covers album, so that was pretty much the same level of output. They still continue to tour regularly and had issues such as Campbells cancer scare and recovery from that, plus the musical landscape is vastly different to that first time scale you mention.   Really not sure what your point is here?
    • Uh...it doesn't sound bad.  Not as raw as the original and I think that hurts this version. But...if you're gonna do a cover, get the lyrics right.  "It's the eye of the tiger, it's the dream of the fight?"  Uh... no.
    • Damn good album...Has moved up my list also. I think as of now my top 4 are probably: Kissin' Dynamite Shiraz Lane Treat Maverick I'm not even bothering listing #5 as I'm saving a spot in the top 5 for Midnite City....Almost expecting that it'll slot in at either #1 or #2. And probably a good chance Nordic Union pushes the list also. Another release I'm really digging is Hearts On Fire.  Not officially out yet but have been listening to it for a month or so from doing a premium pre order.  Not quite making my top 5 but probably in the 6-8 range at the moment.
