See that Oiley, Prayer does work!! :nyanya:

Past two weeks, I got packages in, without the CD Nazi's knowledge..

I was still waiting on one package from Stormspell and it was waiting for me at my front door..

If my wife didn't go into work by noon, I would have been royally screwed!!

  • 2023 Gold Donors

So last Sunday was the Super Bowl and I always go to a friends house to play cards and then watch the game. But this year I told my wife the card game was starting early. So I left early, drove to a library book sale that was about 20 minutes in the opposite direction and picked up quite a few CD's that were only $3.00 total. Some I probably don't even want but I figure I could keep the jewel cases ! I couldn't wait to get to my friend's house and reward myself with a beer !

I 've started buying again, those expensive missing pieces. Same goes for the vinyl, still some gaps to be filled.

When I was with my ex-wife (notice the 'ex'), I used to have a P.O. Box near work that I would have things delivered to, and I also had quite a big collection at my office. LOL

Now that I'm remarried, I'm thinning out my collection to pay off some bills and take a vacation BUT my new wife is totally cool with the whole thing. If/WHEN I start collecting again, she won't have a problem with it as long as things are getting paid elsewhere. I hit the motherload! :-)

This topic just reminded me of an amazon review I read a few years back, it's for ''How Long'' by Michael Thompson Band:

When this CD first came out, I went to my local cd store to pick it up. I went with my idiot wife (now idiot ex-wife). She pitched a fit that I was going to buy this cd-said we couldn't afford it. We left the cd store and she immediately bought shoes. By the time I could afford to buy the cd, I couldn't find it anymore, so I settled for the cassette tape, which I played until it wore out a few years ago after about 10,000 plays. When I discovered that the cd was in print again, I immediately purchased a copy. The sound is fantastic! Much much better than the sound off the cassette. Listen to this cd LOUD. Then listen to it with headphones. Lots of nuances. The playing is excellant. The bonus tracks are great too! The music sounds as fresh as it did when this cd first came out. This is first rate musicianship!!! There are no weak tracks. Each one is different from the other, yet it is all a cohesive package. I will be playing this cd for years to come. Many years after my idiot ex-wife's shoes have worn out.

How you recall a CD review from years ago, I don't know.

    • New album 'Another World' out June 21. Press release: Atlantic was the brainchild of guitarist and songwriter Simon Harrison. Following a successful ghost-writing career and his bands Stranger and Wisht, Simon wanted to make an album in his favoured AOR/Melodic Rock genre. Heavily influenced by bands like Whitesnake, Journey, Bad English, FM and Dare he set about writing the songs that became the first album entitled ‘Power’. Atlantic was never supposed to be a long term band and following its worldwide release Simon moved on to other writing, recording, production and mix projects. In the late nineties Simon met Mark Grimmett. He recorded several songs with Mark over the following few years and they decided at some point they would make a record together. Fast forward to 2021 Mark was talking to Simon about writing and recording a new album. Originally entitled the MGB Band, work started in the fall of 2021 … By early 2022 they had written a number of songs and they both felt they would best suit a new album under the Atlantic banner. Several members of Grim Reaper were recruited to give the Album an edge, whilst retaining the essential melodic rock/Aor feel that is Atlantic. Mark Pullin, Julian D.Hill and Ian Nash were duly recruited into the band along with keyboardist Gareth David Noon from Serpentine .. The lineup was to change later in the project with Simon and Tim Bristow taking over the keyboard role and the addition of Nick Burr and Andy Margrett on lead guitar. Work continued over the next year and finally the production was completed in late 2023. Mark Pullin stepped up to mix the album after some unforeseen issues at Simon’s studio and it was completed in March 2024. Escape Music had re released the original Power album and were absolutely the first choice to work with on the new album. Their new album “Another World” will be released exclusively by Escape Music, exciting times. The band is: Simon Harrison – Guitars, Bass & Keyboards Mark Grimmett – Lead Vocals Mark Pullin – Drums, Backing Vocals Nick Burr – Lead Guitar Julian D.Hill – Bass Tim Bristow – Keyboards Gareth David Noon – Additional Keyboards / Andy Margrett – Additional Lead Guitar / Mark Pullin – Additional Lead Guitar All songs written by Simon Jewell-Harrison & Mark Grimmett Except * Co-Written by Tim Bristow. • Not a fan of Staind, but this song popped up in my YouTube feed and the lyrics just hit me right in the heart this morning.    Beautiful ballad in my opinion…
    • It's ok but at the same time not doing much for me.  To me this sounds like this could've been a modern Bon Jovi song.  If you're basically making music that sounds like Bon Jovi, why not just go back to Bon Jovi lol. As it is, Richie's solo stuff has never really grabbed me and don't see myself returning to this. Do plan to check out the Bon Jovi documentary on Hulu this weekend though
    • That chorus is much more melodic than I was expecting; not bad.
    • Heard this today. Awesome song. Huge chorus.
    • Safe, but a nice song.  Did they name their band after a random HEAT song?
    • Really good band, but haven't heard from them in an absolute age. Shame if all they're doing is a few covers.  The 'Bye bye bye' cover is killer.  'I want it that way' is a great song anyway, but their version is gold. Love that.  But just to prove you can't polish a dog turd, no one could make 'Thriller' sound listenable to me.  Amplified even more with 'Believer.' No Imagine Dragons song should ever be covered or allowed to be acknowledged that it was even actually recorded. Horrendous band and I hate the cover only a tiny bit less than the original, which is a tonne.
