Bwaaaahahahahaha... my wife just saw me scrolling past the Mariah pix that Blue Tequila posted earlier, and she sez "What was THAT?" I sez "Ehh, pictures of Mariah Carey." She sez "Why?" and I sez "Ummm, cuz there's a guy on this board who's obsessed with Mariah Carey." She was like "Whatever."

I didn't have the heart to tell her that the "guy on this board who's obsessed with Mariah Carey" is me. :)

Yes Geoff has a way with words............he would be good at writing those trashy romance novels. :)

Or those "letters" in "Penthouse Forum" that we're supposed to think are actually sent in by the readers :)

You mean those letters aren't sent in by readers.....I'm just shocked. :P

Quick true story on that topic, and I apologize in advance for the thread hijack: one of my first job interviews when I got outta college was at a magazine publisher, for an editorial assistant position. This place published dozens and dozens of magazines, on topics ranging from hunting and fishing to country music to home decor to porno. The particular magazines I would've been working on were in the "adult" division -- Swank, Swank's Video World, X-Rated Film Guide, etc., etc. My job would've been to write the "editorial copy" that accompanied the, er, pictorials in the magazines and also to edit the "letters," which of course were all ghost written and were NOT sent in from actual readers. When the guy interviewing me told me that I chuckled a bit and thought to myself, "Well, I always wondered, now I know."

By the way, I did NOT take the job, as tantalizing as it sounded - not only because the money sucked but also because I figured it would ruin me for life in short order as far as any possible relationships with women. Imagine coming home to find the wife/girlfriend in the mood and saying "Oh man, not tonight, honey, I was looking at that at the office ALL day today..."

Brother Keith... Brother Keith. Surely it would only enhance your desire to accomodate your woman's mood? I see naughty things in my head all day every day, but that hasn't stained me... has it?

Haha, Geoff, why did I know you'd be the first to ring in on my brush with the porno industry?? :)

What can I say, I was alot younger then, and I guess I imagined myself doing something a little more high-and-mighty with my life than editing copy for "Swank" magazine. :) Seriously, if I had taken that job I probably would've gone batsh*t crazy in about a week. I remember the guy showing me an issue of the magazine and saying "Part of your job will be to write the blurbs for the covers every month," and I'm looking down at a picture of a ridiculously gorgeous spread eagled blonde surrounded by blocks of type that said things like "LESBIAN DILDO FRENZY!" and "THEY TOOK TURNS EATING HER OUT!"... and right away went, "No way, man, I can't do this." Or I should say, I obviously COULD have done it, but I didn't really WANT to. It made me kinda nervous to think that I'd be "writing" for a magazine that guys in Raincoats buy to spank their monkeys to.

Not to mention, at the time I was just starting to date the woman who would eventually become my wife and I imagine that such a "career choice" would've eventually shot a hole in our relationship. Besides, I think it would've been hard to get a church wedding if I had started in that line of work. "Do you take this man, this evil, sinning pornographer, this victimizer of women, to be your lawfully wedded husband, even though he is destined to burn forever in HELL?"

 Yeah, can definately see why you wouldn't take it, and truth be told I don't think I would have either. Yeah, norks rule and I don't think I'd get sick of them - 24 hours a day or not - but it's a pretty seedy industry if you ask me. I would love to have been a porn star, seriously, but I don't think I'd have wanted the life to go with it.

No problem Rick. You were doing such a great job keeping us Mariah-fied for a while there that I thought it was time to return the favor. :)

You make it sound like Geoff is dead, not married.

Oh wait... sometimes it's the same thing... <_<

 One thing I have to say about marriage (so far) is that my hand had an even bigger holiday than we did! :D He's never had such a big break in his life. I guess that's what honeymoon's are all about, but yeah, that was awesome. Truely awesome.

Trademark battle: cash and Carey By Dan Whitcomb

1 hour, 58 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES, Dec 8 (Reuters Life!) - Grammy-winning pop singer Mariah Carey is trying to block porn star-turned politician Mary Carey from trademarking her similar-sounding stage name, saying that fans could get the two performers confused.

But the adult film actress, whose real name is Mary Cook, said on Friday that she would not be intimidated by the international superstar and will press forward with her trademark application.

"I'm ready to battle Mariah over this because I've been Mary Carey for a long time," Mary Carey told Reuters. "It's kind of funny because I'm a porn star and I've been being myself for a long time. I think she's being silly."

The star of films such as "Double Air Bags 11" and "Boobsville Sorority Girls," she started using the stage name Mary Carey in 2002 and ran for California governor against Arnold Schwarzenegger. She filed the trademark papers earlier this year.

In October, a lawyer for Mariah Carey sent Mary Carey's representatives a letter threatening legal action if she did not withdraw the application.

"MARY CAREY and MARIAH CAREY share the identical surname and have first names that are very similar," attorney Robert Becker wrote. And in part because the porn star was seeking the trademark for audio and video recordings, he said, "Confusion between your client and her MARY CAREY trademark and our client and its MARIAH CAREY trademark is therefore likely."

Becker also demanded that Mary Carey use her name only for "adult entertainment" and that she not sing or perform music.

"This is a technical procedure to stop a trademark registration. Mariah Carey has no affiliation with Mary Carey," said Mariah Carey's spokeswoman, Leslie Sloane-Zelnik.

David Beitchman, a lawyer for Mary Carey, said he believed Mariah Carey stood little chance of winning.

"My first thought was, does Mariah Carey realize what her lawyer is comparing her to and are they seriously concerned?" Beitchman said. "Do they seriously think the fans are going to be confused?"

Mariah Carey, who suffered a brief career slump after dominating the pop charts during the 1990s, had a major comeback with last year's "The Emancipation of Mimi," the best-selling pop album of 2005. She won a Grammy for the single "We Belong Together."
