What's a spinnin' in your CD player?

The one thing I can't get my head around is Skagarack's 'Big time' album. The first 3 Skagarack albums feature the same line-up, then Torben does the solo album with a new line-up; fair enough. Then, with another completely different line-up, he records 'Big Time,' yet calls it Skagarack? Without a single other member of the original band. Why did this happen? Why was it not just called another Torben Schmidt solo album, which is exactly what it was??

 

 

Simple bro, Torben did his solo and probably didn't sell well as Skagarack. He owns the name legally and he has the right to use it so probably it's a business decision. Actually this was done by Axl with GNR and Dave Mustaine with Megadeth too

Anyway how's the 'Big Time' album ? haven't heard that but I assume it's a 70% ?

 

 

I'd understand that if Skagarack was a name anyone cared about, but I believe the only reason Skagarack failed was because they couldn't sell enough albums to support their musician lifestyle. After 'A Slice of heaven' the guys had to get day jobs just to earn a living... and that is right in their "prime." So I'd be really surprised if his solo album sold any less than a Skagarack album, but maybe I'm wrong?

 

I read the original line-up recorded a bunch of songs in 1991 that remain shelved. Would love to hear those.

 

'Big time' is a typically patchy Skagarack album. Three gems and a bunch of okay tunes. 'Ain't you got a mother' and 'Somebody like me' are great, and 'Hold on just one more time' is in my top 3-5 Skagarack songs;
