I don't like the Stage Dolls very much.

Even the s/t is overrated imo.....I rated it 79%. The end of the album is a bit weak which you cant do when the album is only 9 tracks.

Which do you rate as the weak songs? For me, 'Mystery' is delightful light AOR, 'Don't stop believin' is one of my favourite tracks, despite the inspiro lyrics, 'Hanoi Waters' is killer; arguably the 2nd best song on the album. And then 'Ammunition' is probably their finest lyrical outing to date, and a subtly beautiful tune. Another of my personal faves.

For me, the only "weak" song on the entire CD is 'Wings of steel.' Just average AOR, but I think every other single song is excellent.

Ammunition is clever lyrically but in the end its just pretty boring and very underwhelming to end the album. Needed a killer last track imo.

Elsewhere wings of steel is pretty average and Waitin.....

Lorraine was easily the best track...followed by Still in Love. Nothing is truly weak but then nothing really blew me away. Aside from the last track songs ranged from 7.5 to 9. Pleasant AOR.

Pleasant live too.

I love 'Ammunition;' still think it has a great hook. I love 'Waitin' for you' too. As for the best track, wow, I just assumed everyone knew 'Love Cries' was by far the best tune. One of the blueprints for a perfect melodic rock song, imo.

Anyway, offensively average day on the stereo today;

Stargazer - Back On The Street
Star Rats - Broken Halo
Star Rats - Rebelution
Star Rats - Screw The Consequences
Star Star - The Love Drag Years
Starbreaker - Starbreaker
Starbreaker - Love's Dying Wish
State Of Mind - Memory Lane

State Of Rock - A Point Of Destiny

Good tune for sure - 8.25 was my rate.

Love the vibe but the chorus is way too simplistic - just repeating Love Cries.........

also, ammunition has NO hook, let alone a great one??

To each their own. 79-80% is still a worthy score from me and would classify the album as very good. Just don't get the whole 'classic' tag that a lot associate with it.

You find no hook at all in the whole:

"Boy when you're all alone
holdin' back when you wanna go
take a stand 'cause it's not over now
ooh kid keep your head up high
dry your eyes and touch the sky
take a stand 'cause it's not over now
Ammunition"
Wow. For me, that's one gigantic and extremely strong hook... for me, anyway.
And 'Love Cries' chorus just repeats "love cries????" Glenson, did you actually listen to the album when you rated it? Fyi, there is no straight forward repetition of "love cries" in the chorus at all;
Love cries, love burns
Love drives you, to the point of no return
Love lies, love burns
Love drives you, to the point of no return
Dude, you on some drugs my man?
Perfection, imo;

Great anthem that Love Cries surely.

Some 1996 ratings (actually since the beginning of the year I'm only listening to 1976-1986-1996-2016 releases for assessment purposes).

Impellitteri- Screaming Symphony
Jaded Heart- Slaves and Masters
Angra -Holy Land
Nelson- Imaginator
Visionary -S/t
Voice -Prediction
Defyance -Amaranthine
Depressive Age- Electic Scum
Enola Gay-Pressure
Gothic Knights-S/t

Its a nice tune but what i meant is its a bit one level and repetitive. To me there's not much definition between verse and chorus. Its a bit understated.

I still scored it 8.25....just think there are much much better songs out there.

To me perfection is ballads like Damn Yankees 'High Enough' or rockers like COT's 'Dyin For Love' or Heavens Edge 'Come Play The Game'.

You see the difference.

The H.e.a.t. 'LIve in London' is pretty rubbish for a live album, purely down to the 'faux' crowd noises which try to make it sound like it was recorded in an arena in front of thousands, when it obviously wasn't (WHY?) and completely ruins it, plus the fact Glen is in the photo in the booklet ;)

That alone would ruin it for me.
