Lynch Mob - Wicked Sensation (Reimagined)

West coast rock veterans Lynch Mob will celebrate the 30th Anniversary of their seminal album Wicked Sensation with a special limited print/deluxe anniversary edition of the album. Wicked Sensation Reimagined features re-worked and re-recorded versions of their classic songs and is scheduled for release via Rat Pak Records on August 28, 2020 (also available in Japan via Marquee/Avalon). The twelve-track album, originally released in October 1990, is considered by many to be sacred and perfect the way it is. The idea of rerecording it was not something Oni Logan or George Lynch took lightly.

“The term ‘re-record’ makes me cringe, this is not that,” explains Lynch. “We re-invented the wheel on this record. It’s really a different animal than the original! Fans won’t be disappointed!”

Logan adds: “30 years later here we are celebrating the first song I penned and wrote for the band Lynch Mob, ‘Wicked Sensation’. This one is for the fans that have been there from the beginning, My recommendation is to listen to it loud!!”

The new cover of Wicked Sensation Reimagined was hand drawn by mid-west comic artist Andrew Owens as a tribute to the original cover art. The project was mixed and mastered by Chris "The Wizard" Collier.

With the help of Robbie Crane (Black Star Riders) on bass and Brian Tichy on drums, George Lynch and Oni Logan bring passion and power into these newly created arrangements, take nothing away from the old versions, but bring new light and magic to the material. The songs continue to sound fresh and timeless and will be ready to garner a whole new legion of fans for the next thirty years!

The track listing for Wicked Sensation Reimagined is:

01. Wicked Sensation (reimagined)
02. River of Love (reimagined)
03. Sweet Sister Mercy (reimagined)
04. All I Want (reimagined)
05. Hell Child (reimagined)
06. She’s Evil but She’s Mine (reimagined)
07. Dance of the Dogs (reimagined)
08. Rain (reimagined)
09. No Bed of Roses (reimagined)
10. Through These Eyes (reimagined)
11. For a Million Years (reimagined)
12. Street Fightin' Man (reimagined)

Wow.. I know this is under the ‘Reimagined’ title but this is very far removed from the original. Some may like this but not for me at all. Not a fan of the ‘wah’ and ‘funk’ style guitar all the way through which takes away the magic.
Fair play for wanting to shake it up, but the original is a classic of its era and this serves zero justice - to these ears at least.

I had no idea this was in the works. Thanks for posting mate. You're right about the Funk. This is very Funky. Not a patch on the original, but I like it. I'll be interested to see if the whole album has the same Funky style. Either way, I'm very much looking forward to this.

Horrendously bad. My ears are bleeding.

Agreed!

the original still sounds like it was recorded yesterday. Why touch “No Bed Of Roses” or “Sweet Sister Mercy”? Those tracks were perfect....leave them alone!!!

Exactly. What the fuck makes George wanna play trash guitar? Does he hate his hair metal days or what? This might actually be worse than Smoke This.

This is pretty bad, but I think it would be near impossible for it to be worse than that disaster of an album

You are welcome mate. It’s a pass for me on this one but I’m glad you are looking forward to it, will be interesting to see if this is representative of the full album.

Lynch, "Fans won't be disappointed!"

Logan, "This one is for the fans that have been there from the beginning."

But the fans are disappointed. Even the ones that have been there from the beginning.

The new album art is shit, too.

I would love to know what goes through their heads when they think these kind of projects are a good idea.

Well it looks like he's dabbling in different styles. Again, it doesn't compare to the original, but it's not the worst thing I've heard. The album title is "Reimagined" and it certainly is that.

The re-imagined version of 'Hellchild' is alright, I can handle that. I've been a big Lynch/Dokken fan for years, but this comes across as merely something to listen to once out of curiosity.  I think most long time fans would much rather they put out some new material that goes back to the style of those first two albums.  Or as AlphaMale mentioned, if you're going to redo something why not the self-titled album with Oni on vocals.

They should've done a re-do of the S/T LM record with Oni's vocals instead of Robert's.

Absolutely spot on mate! I love the "REvolution" album featuring Robert Mason. There's four tracks from "Wicked Sensation" on it that are great. A "Reimagined" re-release of their second album with Oni on vocals would be sensational. Don't forget though, that this is recognizing the anniversary of the debut. When the anniversary for the second album comes around he might do that, who knows?

Would love to hear Oni singing those tunes from the 2nd disc.

    • Yep, cracking indie release of which there are so many but this one is actually really good.
    • I have been a Band Maid fan since their early days (2015) as I really don't mind foreign vocals as long as the music is great, but I always kinda avoided Babymetal as I saw a video of them once and really wasn't impressed with the kiddy vocals, so never gave them another chance. Fast forward to now and on the back of the collab with Electric Callboy I have decided to give them a go. I thought they had a huge discography as they have like 25 albums, but on closer inspection it is only four studio albums and 21 live albums. As I am not a fan of live albums anyway, I decided to buy the four studio albums as they are all quite cheap. Have to say there music is a mixed bag, but overall really enjoying a lot of it. Not sure if I just picked the wrong song to start with, or if it is just that I have adapted more due to getting into a lot of weird and wonderful foreign bands over the last few years, but I am glad I finally gave them a proper go. Have to say, if this song was sung in English I think they would have a lot of fans on here
