Yeah, my friends were telling me about this guy, but I never got around to watching it. I hope something good comes of this.

Also, it has been a long minute since I've watched Idol. The show has changed quite a bit. What does Randy Jackson do, now?

Sounds really good BUT, Daughtry sang 80's rockers and now sings modern style rock today.

Just checked out the news and looks like he won the competition huh, nice job, but the solo album probably gonna be modern pop stuff anyway, the finale original song 'As long as you love me' which was written by Justin Hawkins (maybe) is quite poor

here's some clips

We actually got this series "hours after the US" in Australia this time. Odd, as we rarely get US Idol at all.

But I kept tabs on the whole series without really ever seeing a full episode at all. Dude has a huge voice, and it was evident from basically the start of the show that he was going to win it too. A pretty weak top 12 overall, imo, and he was a clear standout. The top 3 were all good but the rest not so much. The sexy girl with the purple hair, who came 4th, was terrible. And she was 4th!

Agree...

I used to watch this show...But completely left it last year as it became apparent the show was more about the judges than the contestants. I tried returning this year and watched most of the auditions...But I've just soured on the whole ordeal of these shows....and it still seemed to me the producers spent more time trying to make the judges likable than worrying about the contestants.

I do remember this guy from auditions and he was clearly above the other contestants....

Will be interesting to see what happens with him...

Overall, I ended up giving this album a pretty average score. So you could argue it's not worth talking about, but that's not the case. There's some average stuff on here but a handful of tunes that I've actually returned to several times. Some really strong tunes in the mix here.

After a really week 2 song start, it actually takes a brass section in song 3 - 'Let me in' - for the album to kick off. A really cool tune, followed by an excellent ballad called 'Only one.' And another one, in 'Fighting gravity.' Not much happening on the rest of the album, until the excellent 'Change' and the great rocking closer, 'As long as you love me,' with a really cool vibe. And that's about all that's worth talking about on this album... but they're good things to talk about. If you operate via iTunes, check these tunes out.

I quite like a lot of this album especially the 2 picks Geoff Mentions, 'Fighting Gravity', 'As Long As You Love Me (which interestingly is written by Justin Hawkins of The Darkness no less), and 'Save Me' is another good one too. He's certainly got a great voice and a good band to back him up on here. Hopefully he'll do some more in future
