Best of 2014 thus far?

Recommended Posts

(Shrugs) I dunno, I've only bought old sh*t so far this year.

It's almost August and the only 2014 release I've bought so far this year has been Body Count's Manslaughter. Wow. I suck. :rofl2:

I'm sure I'll get to the new Judas Priest, Overkill, Tesla and a few others eventually but haven't had the time/$$ to seek them out thus far.

You obviously really like the new Edguy album.....personally I think its weak as shit (apart from about 2 tracks)

Could you just explain to me what each track is actually about (part from Love Tyger) because Im damned if I know ;-)

Yeah, apart from the lyrics not making much sense, I find the dude so hard to understand for the most part. Most the time I can't understand what he's saying, and then if I do understand, I wonder why he's singing it. I don't mind portions of the disc... portions.

Yeah Glen I totally agree. Some highly anticipated releases there- WOA, Harem Scarem and Crazy Lixx most definitely but all those bands are capable of a great album. I'm not sure who 'in Faith' are though? To be honest so far this year I've been pretty disappointed with the quality in the AOR/MHR genre. Seven is at the top of my list also but even that release is not mind blowibg. Hopefully one of these other bands can show everyone how its done.

Still got a lot of catching up to do but so far my top 5 faves are:

1. H.E.A.T - Tearing Down The Walls - 100%
2. Seven - 7 - 95%
3. Steel Panther - All You Can Eat - 95%
4. Sonic Station - Next Stop - 87%
5. Pretty Wild - s/t - 70%

Still looking forward to Care of Night, White Widdow (coming November) and Houston which will all most likely end up high on the list at the end of the year.

After hearing all the samples for the new Crazy Lixx, I am leaning towards it for album of the year.

2014's almost over and I've only bought four current releases - Body Count, Overkill, Accept and Kix. I've listened to a bunch of others via Spotify but not enuff to really go "this sh*t rocks" or "this sh*t sucks."

So of the four actual CDs I've bought I'd say it's a toss up between Overkill's "White Devil Armory" and Accept's "Blind Rage," for whatever that's worth.
