Guest Dangerous Toy
There's an extreme winter storm warning in effect until tomorrow night at 10:00 for this entire section of Virginia. So far we've got about a foot of snow and there's supposed to be 28-30 inches when it's all said and done. On top of that it's supposed to snow Tuesday and Wednesday as well as next Saturday for good measure. Local news stations are already calling this the worst winter storm in Virginia history and it's only halfway over for crying out loud. We have a brand new Trane oil furnace and a tech had to come out Tuesday to install some gadget on the oil line because the damn thing kept freezing up. I'm just waiting for the power to go out to cap this mess off. So is anyone else out there being raped by old man winter?
Dead Planet
Snow what's that.?...We've had so little this year in Toronto that they may layoff all the snowplow operators...
Chris
We've had none so far in South Florida. Hope you are all well stocked and take care of yourselves. A storm like this is pretty bad. Be careful!!
Fat Freddy
They've been talking about it on the news for the past two days, but here it is 10 PM at the Northern tip of New Jersey and we haven't seen a drop of snow yet. From what I gathered, those south of us are getting hammered though.
zacharyamelie
Snow is for Americans, we folks from Southern Ontario (Canada) have had very little of it.....f**k I just jinxed us to 6 weeks of hardcore white stuff....damn!!! Other than a week in early January my shovels have been collecting dust. My BBQ, tucked away in the backyard is getting more action than it has in a few winters. LV KIX
It started snowing here at about 10 am this morning. I spent 3 hours cutting and chopping firewood just in case we lost power. I just came in from walking my dogs, one cocker spaniel and one golden, and they weren't too happy. Actually, I only walked one... I had to carry the other. We are at 16 inches now and it is snowing harder now then at any point today. They actually say we will get the worst of it between midnight and 8 am. They say we could get 4 inches per our after midnight. My dish went out in the middle of the Capital's hockey game so I had to go out and clear the snow off of it... Luck for me (and my wife) that solved the problem. I've already knocked the snow off of it twice. With my luck I will have no reception on Sunday for the Super Bowl. Worst part is I didn't stock up on food before the storm. On the back roads where my cabin is it may not get plowed until Monday or Tuesday... by then they are calling for another storm. hsf
We've been getting snow steadily since late this morning, but it really started coming down around 2-3 this afternoon. I left work around 3:30, went and got my taxes done, stopped at the store (and belatedly realized I didn't get everything I'd need for a long weekend indoors, let alone Super Bowl weekend), and by the time I got out of the store, it was slick. Now, the roads are just covered. I'd say we're upwards of 3 inches. (Which, after reading Dave's story, I feel stupid for even complaining about.) The worst part for me? It didn't hit LAST night so we could've had a snow day today. Mother Nature's a whore!
Doksdad
Even in upper MN we are supposed to get 8-12 inches by Monday a.m. We have enough snow already. Yuck.

LV KIX
I'm not sure why I woke up... it is nearly 4 am here. Just stuck a yardstick in the snow.....23 inches and it is snowing so hard you can barely see. It is still suppose to snow for about for about 16 more hours according to local weather. It is possible that we get 3 feet of snow if it keeps up at this pace. It seems like it snows only on the weekends.
66 mustang
I'm from the other end of Virginia. it just started snowing. we had 1.5 inches of rain yesterday, would have been 18inches of snow if was colder. just started to snow here about an hour ago. our big snow was Dec 18. some people I work with were without power for 24 days. note: it is now 10am and all snow has quit coming down
Fat Freddy
Shortly before 9 AM and.... we still got nuthin'! I woke up this AM expecting to see a winter wonderland, looked out the window, and saw.... exactly the same as last night. I'm like "So where is it?" Now the news sez my area (Northern NJ) may get a slight dusting, if that. Meanwhile, the Southern portion of the state (and beyond) is getting freakin HAMMERED. Figure that out. I'm actually kinda bummed cuz I was sorta looking forward to this storm. For once it was happening on a weekend so I did'nt have to go to work in it. LV KIX
Almost 11:00 am now. My yardstick now tells me we have 28 inches of snow on the ground. No sign of it stopping, coming down just as hard as it ever has. Both of my dogs refuse to go outside at this point. Living where I do (over a mile off any paved road) I see no way I'll be going anywhere until at least midweek. I'm not really sure how I still have t.v. as my dish has all but disappeared. If that goes out I guess I'll be listening to some CD I haven't spun in a long time.
zrock63
We are getting hammered here in South Jersey, started around 7 last night, we have about 14-15 inches (10:30am Sat.) they say it will snow until about 9 or 10 tonight, so we should get about two foot. I'm off work til Tuesday, got lots of food and booze, so I should be good until Tuesday
cdjunky41
Getting hammered as well! (With the snow ). I was still drinking at 4 in the morning. I tried to dig my wife's car out, but quit as I was up to it.. When my wife gets home, she's going to be pissed!!

I just saw the other day that they're flying and trucking in snow to Canada for the Winter Olympic Games. HAHA! Poor bastards. But seriously, what's up with that? How does it snow in the US but not Canada? Oh, and the other hilarious thing; they were interviewing some Canadian guy and he's all rugged up in big warm clothes and he's talking about how warm it is and he actually enjoys the heat compared to the cold they normally have. The temperature was 9'C (48'F).
Fat Freddy
My area dodged the snow bullet this past weekend, but now they're telling us to expect about a foot of it up this-away starting tomorrow night into Wednesday. That's no big deal to me cuz Wednesday is my day off anyway. ...then again, this means they will cancel school, and I'll be trapped in the house with the entire family waiting for it to stop... Someone kill me now!!!!
