Is that any good? I've been meaning to pick that one up.

I've never heard that one either and from what I've read their first few were much more Stoner rock than the straight forward hard rock of some of their later day releases. Always have loved 'Dopes to Infinity', 'Powertrip' and 'God Says No' but have never heard any of the others.

Not sure about the Pride but I've had the Paul Laine on cdr for years and the I have an origianl of the Heavens Edge and love them both. I just love how Rock Candy reissues cds at a very high quality and the sound is always better IMO. The Laine disc looks awesome to with some great liner notes plus has four bonus tracks.

Are those 4 bonus tracks on par with the rest of the disc? Very interested to hear those ones. I can't remember the titles, but if memory serves one of the titles looked like a Zinatra song. 'Only your heart' was it? I assume that's the same song and this is his solo version of it?

Actually Zinatra did record several of his songs for their album that was released the same year. In the liner notes it talked about this and that they had I think shared an engineer. I haven't played the four bonus tracks yet but from the description in the notes it sounds like some are similar to the album with one almost making the album and some that are a little different.

 

Edit:

The four bonus tracks here are the same as the Long Island Records reissue from 1995.

"My Hometown" was written for Bryan Adams as they shared the same manager and has a very Adams melodic rock sound and is solid tune. "Only Your Heart" is aweome MHR and shocked that wasn't included on the original release. "Keep On Running" was almost included on the initial release and is a great song that has a very Tangier/Cinderella bluesy sound. "After the Rain" is a very good ballad that should of made the album as well IMO.

 

According to the liner notes there is a Paul Laine solo disc that was recorded before this one but has never seen the light of day and he says he doesn't want it to. Also there's mention of him rejoining Danger Danger? But he says no to that.

It's the first release from the band and as Wes said, Stoner rock. I can't compare it to SPINE OF GOD, because I don't have it..I do think it's a must have for anyone's collection..
