I am reading Swan Song by Robert R. McCammon again. Hands down my favorite book ever.

Loves me some McCammon. My fave book of his is "Boys Life."

On topic... I bought a shit load of paperbacks at a church rummage sale over the weekend, so I can get back on the reading train. Out of that batch I started right in on Stephen King's "Danse Macabre," one of the few Kings that I haven't read.

I'm still reading that one... from June of last year. :(

I'm currently engrossed in the Wheel Of Time series. Because I am a nerd.

I recently re-read that entire series! Took me about 3 and a half weeks to read all the books again (for the 4th time, no less). Quite anxiously for the next book, even though it's being written by a different author (seeing as Mr. Jordan passed away) from Jordan's notes and outlines.

Does that make me an even bigger nerd?

Recently read these (probably over the last month):

IT and The Eyes Of The Dragon by Stephen King (2nd and 3rd times respectively)

The Sigma Protocol and The Janson Directive by Robert Ludlum

Children Of Amarid by David B. Coe

Fatal Error by Mark Morris & Paul Janczewski

I don't know if I've read anything he's done since that series. I read the one before it, The Riftwar Saga, but nothing after The Serpentwar Saga.

from that same book:

Pornification

For every movie, there exists, at least theoretically, a porno version of that movie. Can you "pornify" the titles below?

The Nutty Professor

Cold Mountain

Malcolm X

Space Jam

Glory

Big Trouble In Little China

Pearl Harbor

You've Got Mail

  • 2 months later...

Our town library was making room for new books so they were selling a bunch of old books for a 25 cents each. I picked up (among others) a hardcover copy of "Walk This Way" Aerosmith autobiography. I started it yesterday at work and had a tough time putting it down. This is gonna be a good one!

The Last Shop Standing - By Graham Jones.

A book about 50 different record shops each in a different location in the UK, and the people who work in them. These shops he reckons will survive the closures of many independant record shops. Dead good reading some sad and poignant and some funny moments, just a good interesting book....with a few pointers on places to visit.

Plus it has a photpgraph and feature about my mate Sid in Hebden Bridge who owns Muse Music, plus a couple of pages about one of my other mates John Brent ... who now runs the Hark to Towler rock pub nr Bury.

In fact I emailed the author as in the book he wonders whatever happened to John, so I let him know, and got a nice reply from him too.

Finally finished 'Boy's Life' by Robert McCammon on my holiday!! Excellent book. Truly loved it.

Now reading:

'American Psycho' - Bret Easton Ellis ; wow, what can I say. I'm about half way through it but will already go on the record saying that this is hands down, easily the best book I have ever read. Totally in love with it.

    • No replies in this thread, really? These guys deserves your recognition, absolutely quality stuff!
    • Listening to this in a shopping centre with the phone to my ear and it sounds ok. But overall underwhelmed. Bed City were awesome and his vocal we top notch. But I like to think I can disregard that and hear it for what it is. I think it's the Christian stuff that is holding me back. And I dealt with Stryper stuff no problems so I'm trying to figure out why this isn't sitting well I guess times have changed and styper always came off as a bit gimmicky or shticky and kind of fun. It's also 30 years later and I really don't care Bout the Christian messages. They are boring now. Even Stryper aren't as obvious in their lyrics these days. Or maybe it's all just a reminder of the shit Josh did that landed him in jail? Silly to constantly remind people of that. Would prefer just some fun rock music I think.
    • Nate seems like a legit nice guy too… From his FB page: I just want to thank everyone for such a positive response on the latest announcement! It means the world❤️ I will do my absolute best to honor Cj’s legacy and keep his name alive each show. Hope to see you all soon Best Regards  Nate Peck   And from earlier this year, this lovely pic of him and CJ
    • On Instagram where Stevie Rachelle posted the link to the story it was crazy how many people don't know anything about the bands recent history or read the article. Several people moaning how they are replacing him too quick etc without realising he has been touring with the band since last year when he was covering for a recovering CJ and that Nate and CJ actually became really good friends. CJ would have wanted them to carry on and gave this guy his blessing, essentially.

    • Good news.  Nate seems like a great dude and from what I've seen, he does a nice job.  I think he's the right guy for that gig being he was filling in with CJ's blessing and he has the right tone in his voice to do the songs justice.  Granted, there's no replacing CJ's unique voice but good that they'll still be out there celebrating the music. One thing I wonder is if they'll maybe considering doing some new music with Nate?  I mean, he's a young guy and would probably love to record some new music with them.  Not sure how much demand there would be for it but I like to see them put out a new song at least and just see how it goes.  It would be nice to give Nate something of his own in the setlist too.  I'm not gonna hold my breath though lol.
