Last night I watched:

Red Eye - Gotta say that I really enjoyed this one. I agree with 66 Mustang that Rachel McAdams looks better with dark hair.

The Fog - Wasn't to impressed with this one. I liked the original with Jamie Lee Curtis (and Adrienne Barbeau) better.

I have a three year old son who's currently obsessed with "Madagascar," so that's the last movie I've seen... and seen... and seen again. Lucky for him that I get a kick out of it too. I'm happier with this obsession than his addiction to "Thomas and the Magic Railroad" from a few months ago. :homer:

I watched a god-awful low budget action movie over the weekend called "Diamondbacks" that I picked up at the local dollar store.. I am addicted to those awful Just-A-Buck movies, but this one was so bad that I felt compelled to log onto IMDB.com and share my dissatisfaction with the world...read on if you're so willing...

An Action Movie With Very Little Action!, 30 January 2006

Author: MetalGeek from New Jersey, USA

My collection of "Dollar Store DVDs" continues to grow, the latest addition being 1998's "DIAMONDBACKS," a Z-grade "action" movie that starts out like a low-grade ripoff of "THE ROCK" but turns out more like a bad episode of "The A-Team." Our story (such as it is) begins with a space shuttle launch (courtesy of NASA stock footage), which is watched on television by an assortment of rednecks who don't look happy about it at all. One by one these rednecks leave their double-wides and congregate in a tavern's pool room (!!) where they change into matching black uniforms and start loading weapons. Turns out these good ole boys are THE DIAMONDBACK MILITIA (Tremble! tremble! Fear! Fear!), and they don't like the fact that this space shuttle's mission is to launch a "communications" satellite because they believe it will be used to spy the activities of red blooded patriotic Americans like themselves. The Diamondbacks then use their constitutionally protected right to bear arms to blow up a small town courthouse for no apparent reason, (??) and then they invade the tracking station that controls the shuttle's satellite cargo in order to force the technicians inside to... well, I'm not really sure, exactly. Either blow the shuttle up, or take over the satellite and crash it, whatever, it's never made very clear WHAT the hell they plan to do. The story unfolds at a snail's pace from there, and for a supposed action movie there's very little action. We get two of the slowest car chases I've ever seen, several bloodless shootouts and some supposed "plot twists" that anybody will be able to see coming from a mile away. Miles O'Keefe, as the head of the Diamondback Militia, looks like Corey Feldman on steroids and seems to be trying to channel Ed Harris' character from "The Rock" with his high and mighty patriotic speeches ("This is OUR war!") while Bryce, played by Eb Lottimer(what kind of name is "Eb" anyway?) plays the poor computer tech who just wants to survive this experience so he can make it home in time for his daughter's birthday. In short, DIAMONDBACKS is generic action junk that will either bore you to tears or put you to sleep. I recommend that if you see it on the rack in YOUR local dollar store, save your money. Even for a dollar, DIAMONDBACKS was a ripoff.

    • Seems the owner of Golden robot Mark Alexander-Erber,  has quite a dodgy history including fire arms charges, a failed hotel chain and several other failed companies plus a tattoo shop with a notorious drug kingpin as his partner, which was controversial due to the paper work being botched as the shop should never have been given planning permission. Sounds like another company of his is going under.

    • Looks like there is a huge drama around the new Rileys LA Guns album, The Dark Horse. Apparently Golden Robot records was supposed to ship CDs and vinyl in April but they have gone dark. This was posted on the Rileys LA Guns FB page today: What’s up everybody? I wanted to give you all an update on the Vinyl & CD for THE DARK HORSE since they were supposed to be shipping mid April. But April has come and gone with no answers from GOLDEN ROBOT RECORDS, so I can’t. We have no idea what is happening with it. We don’t know if it’s been made, being made or never coming because Golden Robot Records won’t tell us. They won’t answer my emails so we are all left in limbo. I re-did the art 3 times to fit their changing templates. So the art was done over a year ago. Believe me that was a lot of work and we (the Band) were also looking forward to seeing the finished product. But like I said, as of now we don’t know. I will try to keep you all posted if I hear anything. Very disheartening
    • Scorpions - Tokyo tapes   Once all these Scorpions albums show up, I will have completed the studio album discography for them and replaced any tape copies I had. I don't see myself buying anymore live albums other than Moment of glory as not really a live album fan, and already have enough. And certainly no more best of type things unless they have exclusive tracks like Born to touch your feelings. I was trying to complete their discography a few years ago, but it got derailed by my medical issue.

    • That's fair.  And usually I don't get too into categorizing artists as everyone defines things differently.  I think "active" rock was a term given to artists which U.S. rock radio stations are playing in their rotation rather than a genre in itself.  But I recall Collective Soul, rightly or wrongly, being considered an alternative or post-grunge band in the mid-90's.   And were one of the artists that U.S. rock radio stations were playing instead of many of the melodic rock acts that were popular just a few years earlier
    • Yeah thats very good, hopefully more info will be forthcoming one way or another.
