Whether it be this or Magic Dance or some other curveball, no doubt the best album from this year will come from the back end of the year. Treat too? Can't wait for this.

yes at least 5 all competing for 2nd spot ;)

I forgot the probable winner, in Midnite City. And I probably (hopefully?) missed half a dozen others.

Midnite City, White Widdow, Magic Dance, First Signal, Nordic Union, Creye, Treat, Steve Perry, Care of Night, Degreed (?), Dallas are all my radar.

None will beat NFO though which for me is pure brilliance (again)

I don't expect Nordic Union or Perry to have any real impact on me personally, but I wholeheartedly agree with the rest. Thank goodness there's still all that to come in what has been a pretty tame year thus far.

Agree. I have a (for me) a great top 5 but outside of that the quality drops off a cliff.

I suspect at least 5 of those will be awesome to complete a top 10. that's all I really ask for these days.

It's not 1989 any more ;)

Borrowing this link from the Midnite City thread;

All sounding good - though 'Fight For Love' seems to have some distinct similarities to 'Game of love' from the last album, lol.

nice tunes but sounding very thin. What happened to the chunky Crossfire sound & Production ?

I was thinking the same thing.  As good as they are(and I do like them), just imagine a "thicker" sound/production. Crunchier/louder guitars and a thick drum sound.

Glad I'm not the only one, I'm missing a bit of delay or echo for that bigger sound like Crossfire or also the moment when the guitar riff starts in Cry Wolf off the Serenade album. Now THAT'S what I wanna hear!

Yeah doods, I've been on the same train of thought for a while too. I made the point a while back that it sounds like they're doing the reverse of bands in the 80's that started out with key friendly AOR and progressed to a ballsier melodic hard rock style. I love all their songs, but their debut has been their ballsiest album yet and seemingly each album gets lighter and more early 80's sounding. Okay if the song are still great, but the first two are my favourite two albums for a reason. :)

I think I made the point that it sounded like they started with an album that sounded like it was recorded in 1990 (debut), then Serenade sounded like it was from 1988, Crossfire (1987) & Silhouette (1986). To add to my point, those samples of the new album sound like 1985 to me, lol. ;)
