W.A.S.P - The Crimson Idol (85%)

Jonathan Steel still lives on and on!

JOHN WAITE - Rough & Tumble (80%)

funny thing that i don't consider this one's AOR at all, it's more like John Mayer meets Eric Clapton kind of record, and John even has acid-jazz track like 'Evil', sounds very Jamiroquai. The ballads here are amazing, especially 'If You Ever Get Lonely', but there are few bumpy tracks, still acceptable though, a diverse and interesting record, probably intended to capture a youth listeners. Like it and it's a keeper!

TESTAMENT - Practice What You Preach (80%)

second weakest from their first five albums after 'The Ritual', but still enjoyable

Shadowman - 'Watching over you' ; blindly bought this after a few high praises on the forum, but I'm now wishing I'd exercised the caution I normally would when approaching a current Overland release. Only 5 songs in, but the title track is the only song so far that has not bored me to tears.

Pretty Boy Floyd - 'Bullets and Lipstik' ; the best thing about getting a bootleg version of this for under $10 is that in the reality of the world, that's about what this CD's worth. I like it - don't get me wrong. It's a cool, solid slab of glam/sleaze... but if you paid something like $50 or whatever other crazy prices people pay for this, you'd wonder how well you'd spent your money.

I'm relieved to say that after the band had time to regroup and think about what they were doing, the 2nd half of this CD was a hell of a lot better than the first. Ended up being a pretty good disc, mostly from track 6 onwards.

Same can't be said for this so far:

Sinner - 'One bullet left' ; I was just playing the ballad as I pulled up to the garage this afternoon, and that was the first interesting song on the disc, sadly.

    • New album 'Stereo Crush' coming early next year through their new label Reigning Phoenix Music. More details to come....
    • From Escape Music: In 2019 the debut album “Attitude” by Lonerider was released, a band that not only features Steve Overland (FM, Solo, Shadowman), Steve Morris (Heartland, Shadowman) and Chris Childs (Thunder) but legendary drummer Simon Kirke of Free and Bad Company fame. The band come across like Bad Company mixed with Shadowman and their debut “Attitude” was loved by many. Lonerider have the feel of that classic Bad Company that we know and love, yet the songs are modern, fresh and vibrant.  In 2022, the follow up album titled “Sundown” was released boasting 12 new tracks of classic rock in the same vein as “Attitude”, well why change a winning formula? The band have continued to attract new fans and they have all been eagerly awaiting a third outing and it’s due for release in November, 2024. The album “Down in the Dust is released on 15th November in both CD and limited edition (500 all numbered) double vinyl. The Vinyl will have 3 bonus tracks. This is an extension of what this exciting band have already given us, and it just keeps getting better. The addition of Steve Mann (Lionheart / MSG) adds so much with that Hammond organ vibe, giving it an “old school” feel and yet the band continues to expand on fresh ideas and melodies. There are no fillers here. Once again, the Lonerider lineup excel themselves in giving us another fine release.  Track List: 01 Shiver (4:22)  02 Three Steps Back (4:34)  03 Getting Closer (4:35)  04 Help Me Brother (3:59) 05 Gypsy of the Highway (5:17)  06 Brokendown Town (5:19)  07 Mystery Man (4:39)  08 Cool Hand (4:24)  09 Back Behind The Wheel (4:23)  10 Long Game (3:42) 11 Actions Speak Louder Than Words (4:03)  12 All Fired Up (3:57)  Vinyl Bonus tracks 13 Chasing Rainbows (3:47)  14 Blue Collar Man (4:33) 15 Lost and Found (4:03)
    • I'll look forward to album...nearest to Krokus we'll get at the minute by the looks of it.
    • Thanks...probably without the guitar player from interview then?
    • I don't even see the point of the videos as they are not even long enough to make money off of as as far as I know, to do that you need to make videos at least 10 mins long, and these are not posted in the shorts section. No effort made either, with a computer generated voice reading the script.
    • There's a new band called Hellbiter. 3 or 4 members of them are from Cobrakill. So it's more of a name change than a break up.
    • Don Broco - Bruce Willis (2021). A couple of years old now, but it just popped up on my Youtube recommendations.  It's pretty awesome... ..."Yippy ki-yay Motherfucker".
    • Roll Over Lay Down - Status Quo
