"Spring Break Shark Attack"

...It's got sharks, and they attack during Spring Break. Yes, this was a Sci-Fi Channel movie. Can you tell?

Actually, there's very little shark action for the first 90 minutes or so. In fact, till the aforementioned sharks finally showed up for dinner in the later innings of this epic I was beginning to think my wife and I had tuned in a Lifetime Network movie, because the first half followed a virginal young girl going to Spring Break for the first time and falling victim to a guy who slipped a roofie into her drink. Whoever heard of a shark movie with a social conscience? We were both goin' "Come on sharks! Eat somebody already!" :rofl2:

I watched parts of it and it seemed kind of lame from what I saw.

Hired 3 DVDs on Saturday night and 'cause she's sexy my wife got 2 of the 3:

'Get Smart' ; not bad, just kind of awkward. No real flow and most the jokes were kind of half-assed. Scenes just seemed to end and that was that. I don't know, Hathaway was edible, I like Correl, but the film just lacked any punch. Harmless fun, though.

'Casino Royale' ; being a big Bond fan my wife was keen to see this and it was okay. I hate to say it, but to Tim and Glen, look like I was right. A few more advancements in the special effects and a little more "violent" than other Bond films, but nothing else separated this from the rest of them. Good entertaining action movie, but little else. The girl was real nice too.

'Taken' ; I felt I delivered with my pick. This was a really cool film. Fast -paced, engaging... yeah, this was our fave of the lot. Good stuff.

And a few I bought and watched:

Wrong Turn 2 - Dead End / Unrated ; Man this was poor. Horrid dialogue (I was just praying that skater guy would meet a painful death asap) and an amazingly unoriginal storyline. I like the reality TV concept, but these freaks in the woods who eat people. For f*ck's sake, how many movies can you get like this? The girl who gets slashed up by the water was gorgeous and worth the price of admission, but aside from that this was a pretty average gore-infested flick.

Turistas / Unrated ; aside from a really annoying, shitty dark sequences towards the end this was okay. Set in Brazil, the scenery was lovely and there were countless attractive sluts in not much more than a bikini throughout the whole film, so that ruled. But it was a pretty cool movie anyway about tourists getting their internal organs cut out and sold off. The escape at night at the end and then the entire closing sequence in the underwater caves were both just so shit. Very hard to follow what was happening until it had happened. Anyway, decent flick.

A Brilliant Mind was on one of the networks last night. Caught that after work. I always wanted the conspiracies to be real.

Great movie

Yeah, I found myself thinking a few times that Russell Crowe had a great performance.

Zodiac - not knowing the history beind the movie it was interesting but not entertaining.

Bolt - pretty OK disney movie.

Race To Witch Mountain - saw about an hour of this but my daughter doesn't do well with explosions and fight scenes and dark spooky stuff so we had to leave. What I saw I'll rent it when it comes out on blu-ray and finish it.
