Like both of these songs

do their last couple of albums sound like this or are these new songs something a bit different from them ?

I personally think they are very different to these two tracks. Just all pointless power metal, more or less one tempo from start to end of previous albums.

Anyway, I'm not into the new tune. Reminds me a lot of Kissin' Dynamite actually.

I like Dynazty and Kissin' Dynamite, but both bands (for me) are of the type where you go in to a new album knowing that it's going to take repeated listens before songs start to stand out and that it will generally be worth it.
Probably two of the heavier bands I listen to new material from these days.

I still don't get the "power metal" comparison for Dynazty... we must have different definitions of what power metal is. To me, that term implies Stratovarius, Running Wild, Freedom Call, Grave Digger, Angra, Dragonforce, Gamma Ray, Helloween, Blind Guardian, etc.

Dynazty has far more of a hard rock foundation than heavy metal, IMO.

P.S. For many of us, a Kissin' Dynamite comparison would be a positive, not a negative. :)

Haha, I actually liked a handful of songs off the last KD album. Overall, though, I just don't dig their style at all.

I don't think Dynazty is pure power metal as such, but it's just that same constantly fast paced, one dimensional vibe I just really dislike. To each their own, but like I said many times, those last few albums just seem like one constant song to me. Same tempo, same operatic vocals and lyrics and no discernible hooks or melodies... that I can hear anyway. ;)

But maybe I'm being harsh. Who knows. I just know I liked their first three albums and then all of a sudden they just stopped recording creative songs and recorded a single song for the next three albums in a row.

Presence of mind: Great song, maybe a bit slow an dark as an opener.

Paradise of the architect: This is what I missed on Firesign. The chorus is better than any chorus Avantasia has ever released, it's definitely a 10/10 and I only know 1:05 of this song.

The black: Sounds even better than the grey, just a fun hard rock song.

From sound to silence: Verses are good, I don't really need growls in the second verse, the chorus feels like a failed puzzle but maybe it'll grow.

Hologram: I have to wait for the full track, right now it doesn't catch me, I don't like those heavy ballads.

Heartless madness: Killer chorus, great beat, the only thing I don't like is the main riff being the chorus-vocal-melody.

Waterfall: Again a great beat, I prefer the happy fun Dynazty over the melancholic Dynazty but this track is ok for me.

Threading the needle: Strong vocals, great melodies, killer chorus, somehow there's some magic in this song.

The man and the elements: I love what the guitarbagpipes do but the vocal melodies are a bit overshadowed by that.

Apex: Typical Dynazty song, reminds me of 'Run Amok', growls are not as present as the clean vocals, that's good. I really like that track.

The road to redemption: I don't really know where the road is leading me, it teases a highlight in the chorus but there is none, maybe redemption comes in the second half of the song.

The dark delight: I'll have to wait for the full song cause there are too many little pieces I can't put together yet.

Feels like a very strong album and they found their energy again after losing it on Firesign a bit.

Well, that's just foolishness.

I am one of those who prefer their style on Knock You Down and Sultans over the direction they've gone in with the last few albums.  I thought the initial promo tracks for this one sounded solid so I gave the album a spin.  Not bad, but at the end of the day none of the tracks really grabbed me like those earlier releases.

Gave this a listen last night.

Certainly got that euro theatrical feel to it.

I mean I'll find a few nice songs on it, but for me, they are getting very close to the WASP amount of double bass drum.
This is what killed WASP for me eventually.
And before that I loved the double bass drum, but once WASP made album after album flooded with it I started to hate it :(

    • Not much information on the video's page, other than it appears to be an AI creation. Once it gets into the verse and especially the chorus, it's actually not too bad IMO.
    • While I appreciate your interest in contributing to the site, most of the artists and albums you are submitting are either REALLLLLLY stretching the boundaries, or as in the case of this band, completely off the mark. No alternagrunge. No punk. No death metal/power metal (although those can be submitted to Brutal Metal). You can always start a thread asking about a particular artist before blindly submitting it for inclusion. Thanks! -Dan
