VIXEN VOCALIST JANET GARDNER INKS DEAL WITH PAVEMENT ENTERTAINMENT - SOLO ALBUM TO BE RELEASED AUGUST 18TH, 2017

Best known as the lead vocalist of the all-female rock band Vixen. Teaming up with guitarist/songwriter/producer Justin James (having worked with Staind, Collective Soul, and Tyketto), Gardner has ventured into the solo realm to unleash a new side of her musical creativity. Together, Janet and Justin have penned a collection of emotionally charged songs with gritty grooves, infectious hooks, and inspired lyrics that merge hard rock influences from the last four decades.

"This is a very diverse collection of music. Justin and I combined forces with hard rock influences from the last four decades. If you like the seventies, the song 'The Good Or The Bye' is the song for you. If you like the eighties, 'If You Want Me', 'Candle' and 'Hippycrite' are for you. If you like the nineties, you might dig 'Your Problem Now' and 'The Grind', but they all have a common thread that is simply our sound together."

First video from the album...heavier, more modern sounding than I expected

Pffft..... modern crap.

On a nice ass memory note, I once saw her vagina. Seen Vixen in 1989 and she had these tight ass leather pants on. A few songs in, her pants had split at the crotch and her pretty pink love button was peeking out. ZOMFG..... hot. Never forget that! LOL

:rofl2:

She realized it eventually and came back out in jeans. :(

Excellent vagina story... I like that. ;)

I don't mind the song. The "nah nah nahs" are a bit abrupt and annoying, but otherwise I don't hate it.

Now we know why Vixen had Richard Marx write all their sh*t for them.

Yuck.

Janet's still pretty MILFy tho.

No sir, I don't like it.

Don't remember her playing guitar back in the day?

Check out the Not a minute too soon music video.

It was a rare example of her playing guitar in Vixen.

There's honesty. It's very much as advertised. I quite like it. Really hadn't expected much but there are some good songs in here.

The song is fine, the 3:05 mark is a lame cop out and they should have just put in a guitar solo. Otherwise the modern elements work and is reminiscent of Portland's Slowrush from 15 years ago. Agreed the Na Na's are a bit sharp on teh ears and could have been improved.

As mentioned Janet is always FAP worthy but the drummer too is worth a second glance...

Heard this album, and did not like. At all. 'Lost' is an okay song, but the best and only half decent thing on there. The ballad, 'Best friend' exposes the fact that her vocals aren't quite what they once were... naturally.

Mmm. Pass.

And on a side note I probably wouldn't. We'll maybe after a few pints ;)

But you're still a young lad, aren't you?

Those of us who were teens or early 20's when she was rocking the short, white mini-skirt in the late 1980's would still happily give her whirl :)

I saw Vixen during the summer of 1989 here in Portland, Oregon (Portland Rose Festival) and Janet was hot as hell. Man those really were THE days!

  • 4 months later...

In case any fans of Janet hadn't already read elsewhere, this was posted on her FB page a few days ago:

"I wanted to take a moment, and catch everyone up on the last few, very eventful days...Unfortunately, on Friday, things turned a little upside down on us. I was rushed off to the hospital, and had to have emergency surgery to remove a subdural hematoma that was putting pressure on my brain. They had to drill a hole into my head to remove the hematoma and put a titanium plate in to cover the hole...I apologize for having to cancel the Vamp’d show last night. We will be rescheduling that soon. I will keep you posted on my recovery.  Thank you for all the love and support!"

    • Also last couple of songs have an Axl Rose or Stephen Shareaux vibe to them.
    • He has such a familiar and somewhat comforting voice. For me he was the best of Krokus. The Blitz, Change Of Address and Heart Attack. Not to say I don't like otehr songs, I do, but he make Krokus a nice rounded package with great consistant songs. This song is a bit too AC/DC for me, but as usual hookier and a better tune than most ACDC songs
    • So I've listend to this enough to review it. Overall it's a ptrtty good album. Most of the songs are good or really good. Not many if any great or mind blowing songs. So for me it's an easy album to listen to. Most of the songs will be keepers, amny of them will just scrape through as keepers.
