Jack Russell's Great White
2 hrs ·

Excited to Announce we have signed to label Frontiers Music srl and are working on a new album to be released in 2017!

"I want to say how happy and excited I am about my band. I have so much respect for Serafino, Mario, Derek and their team and am so thankful to be working with them. The band and I are off the hook about the new material. You are going to love it! This is fun, first and foremost. I feel like I’m 27 again. I hope it sounds like Great White—but for 2016.” - Jack Russell

Dude still sounds great.

Looks as though he's been through the ringer about a dozen times, but sounds great!

Truu! Hope this is good.

Hope it's better than the Great White CD.

Was not a big fan of that one.

The new decently average album better than the latest Great White.....

Yeah, I never even bothered with the last Great White album, because it sounded less than decent average.

It was awful. Terry from XYZ was a terrible choice to replace Jack.

The last GW with Jack was pretty terrible too.

Yeah, as chance would have it I listened to 'Rising' today and it is definitely shit. Rubbish. As was the "Great White" album with the XYZ dude. It's been a long time since something worthwhile with the Great White logo on it was released.

I guess this makes it official. Everyone who was famous in the 80s for more than fifteen minutes has been part of the Frontiers roster at least once.

I thought Rising was average but Elation was great.

Really looking forward to new music from Great White, no matter who the singer is. Also look forward to JR music, but not as much.

Great White turned out to be one of my favorite bands.

I realised this when I had to choose which songs to lump together for my own mix and found that there weren't many that I could omit from Hooked onwards

Interesting, for me it would be the S/T and Shot In The Dark and some of Once Bitten. I find it interesting that every release or at least it seems has a cover song on it.

And why not, they do great covers.

I actually heard Once Bitten Twice Shy on the radio yesterday. The Ian Hunter one. And it pretty much sucked compared to GW's cover. Easy when it's an older weaker song I guess.

They had a great relationship with The Angels in covering songs.

Yeah, that just tweaked for me. Curethesane, are you saying you enjoy their music more from 'Hooked' onwards, than the albums before 'Hooked?' If so, that'd be wild. IMO, their best albums by a massive distance are s/t, 'Once Bitten' and 'Twice Shy.'

GW's version of Face the Day is epic, no knock on the original, but the cover is really great. The Who cover is horrible on the S/T however and could have been left off. Agree that the OBTS cover concreted their place, not much different than Quiet Riot or even early Metallica I suspect.

Yep, Hooked really hooked me :)

Before that it was Rock Me, All Over Now and Once Bitten Twice Shy.

Over time I managed to get in to some of the other songs on those albums. There's nothing wrong with them, for me it was just timing and what I was doing at the time.

Sometimes you put on a disc and are not instantly in to it, so you shelve it and never get back to it for a long time.

I did try to get in to Shot In The Dark, but never could.

I do love their later stuff more though, and that's just a personal thing

Love Is A Lie

Psycho City

All Right

Cryin'

Lil' Mama

Sister Mary

I'm Alive

Miles Away

Another great cover is Love Removal Machine

I don't remember actually liking any of their stuff.

Can anyone recommend their best say 3 tracks so I can check them out.

Cheers

REALLY depends on your taste, not my absolute favorites but try these:

Rock tracks:

Mistreater

Can't Shake It

Get On Home

Ballads:

House of Broken Love

Maybe Someday

I'd start with Rock Me - a classic epic with tempo and mood changes

Lil' Mama is your up tempo rocker

For a ballad I'd go with Love Is A Lie, but that song won't be for everybody (but I love the piano in it - reminds me of the bit at the end of Layla) so in place of that maybe Miles Away - a cool song about being out on the road.

Haha, some odd choices there. Three of their best tracks, imo, would be;

Bad Boys

Lady Red Light

She Only

One from each of their best three albums. As for 'Shot in the dark,' I never got into it either. I only like the title track and find the rest very weak.

based on what I remember, I will give you three rockers and three ballads :D

rockers :

Bad Boys

Call It Rock And Roll

Once Bitten Twice Shy [cover] or Rock Me (original)

ballads :

House of Broken Love

Save Your Love

Afterglow

well actually Glen, they do have lots of great songs, the earlier era combines a little bit of heavy metal while the commercial era combines a little bit blues, I can safely say I can construct a double disc greatest hits of 20-24 awesome songs out of their entire career :D

Just had another listen, and it's not bad.

Sometimes songs come and go. It took me ages to get in to Twice Shy, aside from Once Bitten Twice Shy

I left God Of Thunder off all Kiss mixes I made because it took me 20 years or more to like the song :)

Still trying to learn to like I Still Love You - don't know if I'll get there....
