Upcoming 2015 releases

The whole Bonfire thing still pisses me off. David Reece has no business singing on their new album. I don't even want to hear it now. If it were Claus, I'd be all over it, even though their output over the years has been less than stellar. You can't just replace a guy that sang with the band for 30 damn years.

I like David Reece but this just angers me to no end.

May 8?? Holy shit, they churned that out quick considering how recent that announcement was.

You know what I'd have loved, now that I've had time to think about it? If Claus is genuinely gone and is not interested in the band anymore, I wish Michael Bormann had joined the band. Granted, there is not a single member left in the band from the era when Bormann was still there so there are no ties at all, but I actually think that would have been really cool if it could have happened. Both Bormann and Bonfire have struggled a lot of create a decent album for a while, but a combo like that might just have worked - re-ignited some kind of spark. And at least they'd be keeping it German, and there is a history with Bormann in the band.

Anyway, I'm just fantasising now. Looks like it's done and dusted now, and I fear another average Reece album will be the result. :( Honestly, though, kinda looking forward to hearing it. Even if it won't sound like Bonfire...

I could care less who is singing for them...the only thing that matters to me is the end product and I'm willing to give it a chance....

I will give it a chance for sure, I'm a fan of both(DR and Bonfire). But I do feel they should have just stayed as Ez Livin', not Bonfire.

well they should just rename themselves to Bangalore Fire :D

lol, that's actually a pretty cool band name. Much better than most current bands, anyway. ;)

Starz (TBA/Frontiers Records)

10363601_847429191979800_565692415902953

From Frontiers Records:

Frontiers Music Srl is delighted to announce the signing of US Hard Rock legends STARZ who will release a new album in the second half of 2015!

Although not as commercial successful and well known as a lot of their peers, STARZ has proven to be a hugely influential far band for those musicians who were aware of them. Several massively successful U.S. artists, like Cinderella (band), Bon Jovi, Poison, Twisted Sister and Motley Crue cite STARZ as a primary influence. Magazines like Kerrang! and Hit Parader have included Starz albums on lists of the most important heavy metal albums of all-time!

All together STARZ recorded four studio albums in the second half of the 70’s: “Starz”, “Violation”, “Attention Shoppers” and “Coliseum Rock” and gathered critical acclaim with their ability to mesh the smooth with the hard. "We loved pop melodies," admits guitarist Richie Ranno, "and we also loved heavy guitars. We liked to combine hooks with a harder edge. Our singer Michael Lee Smith had a great sense of melody. In the course of four albums, we only used orchestrations or keyboards once, preferring to mix heavy rock productions with melodic overtones."

STARZ are now returning with a lineup featuring original members Richie Ranno on guitars, Michael Lee Smith on vocals, Joe X Dube on drums and new faces George DiAna on bass and Alex Kane on guitar.

“We are absolutely psyched to be writing and recording an album of new STARZ songs for the Frontiers Label. We’re really excited about the new songs we’ve come up with – SUBWAY TERROR 2015 – here we come! Our sincere thanks go out to the staff of Frontiers Records for giving us this opportunity,” says Ranno.

Another one from Romeo's Daughter - that interests me enough.

As for O'Regan... jesus wept. So by April, he already has 3 releases in 2015? That's just stupid. (Legion, the project with EJ Curse and the Burning Rain guy, and this "solo"effort). And they all sound like a ballsack.

Really interested to hear that Starz release....probably my favorite band from the 70s....but this makes me laugh "Magazines like Kerrang! and Hit Parader have included Starz albums on lists of the most important heavy metal albums of all-time!" Obviously the definition of HM has changed since the 70s....lol

All their albums, bar 'Attention Shoppers' are must have releases. 70's US Hard rock up there with the best of 'em. Can't wait to hear it.

Romeo's Daughter should be good to as their last was was excellent. Meatloaf and Steinman could be interesting, but i'm not holding out too much for that one.

Love 'Attention Shoppers'....I would have great difficulty putting those first 4 releases in order of preference since they are all incredible.....

Christ, I'd like to get a count on CDs released and scheduled for release so far, and how many are even worth bothering to listen to.

85% of the list so far is underwhelming or flat-out terrible.

Way too many crap bands releasing music these days.
