Tom Keifer solo album

I would prefer a new Cinderella release considering many 'solo' releases have a tendency to suck but I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for a decent listening experience...

I don't think Cinderella will ever get close to 'Long Cold Winter'. I like a few songs on 'Heartbreak Station' and 'Still Climbing' was pretty good, but nowhere near the awesomeness of LCW imo.

Everyone has their favs I guess but personally I love all 4 of their releases and would have a hard time picking a favorite...

I agree...Long Cold Winter is probably their best, and it's probably one of the best albums to come out of that time period. I would LOVE to hear a Tom Kiefer solo album, although I'm curious to hear how his voice would sound nowadays...

He's decent live, so I imagine in the studio he'd be fine.

I thought Night Songs was their best followed closely by Long Cold Winter. They started to lose me with Heartbreak Station, as it was just so damn bluesy (especially the damn song Shelter Me with Little Richard). I don't think I even bothered ever checking out Still Climbing. Is it worth it?

Still Climbing brought back that hard rock edge. I love everything Cinderella's done. I love Blues. So I might not be objective enough.

I like 'Still Climbing' too and agree that 'Blood from a stone' is the best on there, and also one of my favourite Cinderella songs. I'd rank them as such:

1. Night Songs

2. Long cold winter

3. Still climbing

4. Heartbreak station

I look forward to the solo disc - been an age we've heard from these guys at all.

Why can't a new Cinderella album be recorded? What is the actual story there?

They recorded a new album or more for Portrait records when Kalodner brought them to the label along with RATT and Great White and those two records didn't do well and that deal fell apart and from what I understand the Cinderella songs aren't owned by the band so they can't release them and I don't think they were completely finished anyway. I think maybe the band sees that touring is so lucrative without the headache of recording new music that probably won't recoup the costs of the recording. It's a shame as I'd love a new release instead of Tom's blues and country style album but I just don't see it happening. Thank God that some of our bands we love like Tesla still enjoy making new music.

Portrait probably owns the recordings as opposed to the actual songs...I would think Cinderella could re-record the songs themselves...but who would pay for it? Damn Yankees ended up in the same boat, but the songs were divided up between Jack Blades, Styx & Ted Nugent albums (re-recorded each time)...

I agree. They would have to re-record them all and hope there is a label out there that could help recoup some of those costs. Frontiers is great for our music but I don't know if they help with the recording costs at all and if they do I'm sure it's not very much.

I'd be absolutely stunned if there was no label at all interested in releasing new Cinderella tunes. Sounds like it might be a reality, so consider me amazed. I would love to hear what they came up with... would really love to hear it. :(

Please support Heavy Harmonies! The donations goal is the out-of-pocket expenses to run the main site and this board for calendar year 2024.

    • Well... I mean... it's true.   Time once again to nag/beg/plead/insult (wait, what?) to help out covering Heavy Harmonies' expenses. Costs for the site run roughly US$195 a month, roughly the same as last several years.  So when I say "costs", what do I mean? It's the out-of-pocket expenses to keep Heavy Harmonies running: server lease, bandwidth, hosting support, and the subscription for this forum software, domain registration. The 2023 drive did pretty well, reaching 83% of goal of covering the annual costs. Let's see if we can meet, or better yet, beat that goal! The donation drive will run through Halloween, October 31.   Anyone who makes a single donation of $20 or more and has a board username will be added to the group "2024 Donors". This gets you the following benefits: A nice shiny icon in your profile showing that you are an HH Donor for 2024:  An increase in the size of your PM storage from 200 to 500 messages An increase in image attachment/upload storage from 20MB to 50MB Exempt from the search flood control (normally if you try and do a search more than every 10 seconds, you get an annoying little "please wait" message) No time limit on editing your own posts! This will especially be useful for those with trade/sale lists as you'll be able to edit them rather than posting revised versions. A warm fuzzy feeling inside that you are helping support Heavy Harmonies! If you donate $50 during the drive, either as a single donation or across multiple donations, you will be added to the group "2024 Gold Donors". This gets you the following in addition to the above: A bigger, shiny badge:  All your posts will be highlighted, because if you show this much dedication to HH, what you have to say is obviously more more important! (just kidding, but your posts will be accentuated). The ability to create a forum "signature" that will be added to all of your posts. If you donate using buttons on the main site, please put your board username in the notes section, and if you donate from here on the forum, please PM me the email address that you sent the donation from! Otherwise I have no way to tie your donation to your membership here on the board. If you are currently in the 2023 donor groups but don't wish to donate this year (or can't), at the beginning of the donation drive, your group membership features will revert to the regular non-donator membership group. Membership in the 2024 Donors group will last until the beginning of next year's donation drive, at which point you can donate again to remain in the Donors group with the same benefits, or revert back to your current member group. PayPal donation buttons are found at the top of all the pages on the main site and here on the forum on the right side at the top, or if you'd prefer to send a money order, check, or cash (not recommended, but I know some people prefer to do so), you can make payable to Dan Harding and send to: Heavy Harmonies P.O. Box 17021 Urbana, IL 61803 USA If you can't give $20, give $10... if you can't give $10, give $5... it's just once a year. (And if you happen to be fortunate enough to be earning gobs of money, please feel free to give bunches! I'm not opposed to having a sugar daddy... or seven.) As always, your support is greatly appreciated! -Dan
