I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'll welcome new music from them, no doubt, but they're catalogue is so good, they don't need to release anymore. But, if that's what the boys wanna do, more power to them. I guess I'll be hearing some new stuff next time I see them.

That is cool, especially the DVD for us West Coasters who won't get an opportunity to see them in the flesh.

And in regards to the new material effort, I can't fathom the band releasing anything bad. I for one hope they go WAY back and revisit the S/T Cool Kids era style...

Great news! I had been hoping they would decide on doing a new album. I'd also love to see them do something with the Thundergorund demos. There were some very good songs in that group.

You may just get an updated version of a song or two from the "Thunderground demos".... Steve wrote a bunch of those songs and Donnie didn't wanna release stuff that he didn't have a hand in writting. Some pretty good stuff on that one.

Now that the cat is out of the bag it will be interesting to see if they play any of the songs that will be on the new release when I see them a few times within the next couple months. I know Funny Money has been writting "new songs" for a couple years... I just hope that they don't use those songs for the KIX release.

I think these guys are fully capable of making a great KIX record without Donnie Purnell. What do you think Dave? Donnie pretty much wrote 95% of their songs correct? Donnie and outside writers I mean.

That's why I started its own thread. So far, no HHers have confirmed. But my brothers and I are booked.

so still no matters resolved with Donnie at all after all these years, Dave ?

well lookin' forward to this, but if this is in the same style as Fuse/Wire, that's heaven

Not sure that there is an effort by either side as far as resolving differences.

I think KIX can release something as good or better than most bands from the era that are still putting new stuff out. It might not be a "Midnight Dynamite" (my fav.) but I would bet it will sound like KIX and be a pretty strong release. I'm 100% sure it will sound like KIX.

As far as Donnie writting most of the songs goes... not sure that is totally true.. but Donnies name does appears by the songs in the liner notes.

What do you think the odds are that some of the new-album tracks may be polished up versions of stuff from the vaults? Y'know, like some of the songs from the "Thunderground" bootleg?

Answered that question on page one of the thread......

I think one or two might come from the "Thuderground Demo". Steve wrote a bunch of those songs so I'd say the chance is pretty good.

Anywhoo, I'm so stoked about this news that I just updated my HubPages article about Kix with info about the new live disc and studio album. Have a look y'all. (Yes, I'm shamelessly pimping for page views. Haha)

haven't read the news again, but is this KIX live DVD taken from the M3 festival live show recently ?

No .... This Live CD and DVD have been in the works for a couple of years now. The show is from a place called "Ramshead Live" in Baltimore.

I remember being there when they recorded the show... but I can't remember exactly when it was.

    • So I was just looking at the new releases I bought from this year, and while there are some new additions to expand from the top 5 I posted earlier this year, to a top 10, all the stuff in my original list are still in the top 10 (although obvs with three months to go, the ones near the bottom could be usurped). Anyway as of now, this is where I am at: 1.       Judas Priest 2.       The Warning 3.       Nek! 4.       Rolling Quartz 5.       Band Maid 6.       April Art 7.       Lipz 8.       Sebastian Bach 9.       Mick Mars 10.   Durbin
    • I to used see them a few times at the Middle as well. With local chapter of the Hells Angels at front bar. Not much a Screaming Jets fan, so I didn't watch them with Gleeson' The guy in front now, was their recent drummer before they put out in front Those first five albums are classics
    • My brother was playing some of this guy's stuff a few months ago. I only now got around to checking it out for myself. Pretty fuckin' good!
    • Seems these guys are no more   https://sleazeroxx.com/r-i-p-cobrakill-lead-guitarist-randy-white-announces-band-no-longer-exists/
    • I grew up listening to Cuntry, and have kinda wanted to get back into it. But not the typical New Cuntry shit. So I'll give this a try.
    • I always forget about this band, and then I listen to them and am like, "Oh, yeah, they're good!" And then forget about them for another year.
    • I was a pretty big fan. Nature Of The Beast is a killer song. Saw them with Dave Gleeson from the Screaming Jets singing and he did an amazing job, but pretty sure they have a new singer now  I recently went through the two most recent albums before this one and there were a couple of ok tracks, but mostly mid. Fun fact: I saw the Angels a couple of years before Doc died at the Middle hotel in Ferntree Gully and they seemed to hate each other. Pretty sure Doc said nothing to the crowd all night. Fun fact 2: when they were building the transit bar in Melbourne, a mate and I found a service elevator that went to the roof, which was under construction. After peeing off the roof, which is always fun, we realised that we could clearly hear the music 5 or 6 floors below from a DJ I think. He was playing Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again. We started yelling down the No Way Get Fucked, Fuck Off bit thinking we were hilarious. Then soon we noticed people looking up, and for some reason they seemed to be clearly hearing us. Another mate then called us to tell us security were on the way up the stairs so we took the service elevator down and managed to laugh it off. Stoopid drunk story I guess, but fun days.
    • Cheeky, getting your artwork in there. I wonder how you did that.  I like the vocal track on #1 and that'd be my pick. I personally don't dig the female versions of songs, because I'm not a female (yet?) and as these are songs written by ourselves I personally feel the best interpretation is an AI dude voice taking the place of your dude voice.
    • Yeah, that's great but this is obviously an accomplished musician probably completely in control of this output... not done with Suno, I'd bet. There's definitely dudes out there who are perfectly capable of doing their own music, like this dude, but for whatever reason might not be able to put a project together, again, for whatever reason... but this definitely feels a lot more like AI feeling in the missing gaps for someone otherwise in complete control of what he wants.  Either way, it is very cool indeed.  As Darkstone says, I'm not sure paying is the way to get the best results. I'm also not saying it isn't, especially with other platforms that are not Suno. I think already knowing what you're doing, musically, is the best way to get best results, personally. Suno, for example, is just perfect for someone who might enjoy writing lyrics but is not in any way shape or form an accomplished (or even adequate, lol) musician.  But yeah, it's pretty cool for some fun. I'm not sure if you checked out my links above. Keeping them pretty quiet due to lyrical content, lol, but you might dig some of the stuff in my links. 'As the moment passes by' and 'I'll wait for you' are two of my personal faves. Along with 'Faith to fall.'
