:agree:

Fantastic album, not my top Death Metal CD, but not far off. Sadly I thought the follow up, 'Swansong' was awful. Not a bad track on Heartwork imo.

Oooh, nice varied selection there. Which ones are you particularly fond of out of those? That Lillian Axe isn't my favourite of theres but does have a couple of songs which I'm particularly fond of (Day I Met You, Crucified) and Sevendust comes second for me just after Animosity. Oh and I've been looking to pick up some I Mother Earth too.

Recent purchases: Harem Scarem - S/T Japanese edition and Kick - Consider This...

Thanks! Yeah, I love melodic rock, etc. but I'd be lying if I said I didn't dig some modern stuff too!

I have a real weakness for Carcass, it's like death metal vocals over straight ahead 80's metal.

I was goin' to say, you don't look like the CARCASS type of guy..

HEARTWORK is probably their most commercial release..

When you get into SYMPHONIES OF SICKNESS or REEK OF PUTRIFICATION, gimme a yell.. :headbanger:

Swansong is their most commercial release

Good work mate. I share your pain (and occasional elation at sneaking a few through the back door).

Enjoy your loot, I've just bought the Hotshot CD too, so hoping for great things.

Yes, gone are the death metal titles and subject matter, leaving only the sound of th3e vocals to sort of qualify them as death metallers... I love the damn stuff though!

What's the early stuff sound like? I'm mainly familiar with Heartwork and Swansong.

Nice selection there. Midnight Grind by Slik Toxik is one of my favorite songs ever. I've never got tired of it, especially the guitar solo.

The early stuff is very rough. Not even close to sounding like the later day stuff. If you're gonna listen to it you better pick yourself up a medical dictionary if you want to understand the lyrics at all.

'Necroticism: Descanting The Insalubrious' is very good, moving from the earlier grind sound (which does nothing for me) to Death Metal. A few fantastic songs on there, not as good as 'Heartwork', but still very good.

Thats the only album from Carcass that I dont have. I've heard great things about it and maybe I should look into getting it. I do have the Tools of the Trade EP which I understand was recorded during the same session.

Pete needs to stay clear of the earlier stuff until he has more a of a Death Metal foundation set. He needs more Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Obituary (the best...Yay!!!) or Deicide (CDJ's favorite).

You probably need it, I can send you a couple of tracks if you like, so you can see what you think? PM me if so.

Never really liked Cannibal Corpse, Obituary are one of the best, saw them live last year and they were fantastic, but there is a glaring omission from your list - the mighty Death! Chuck was a genius; really clever, amazing music.
