Starz - Extended Versions (unlike so many of this series the disc is a previously unreleased gig from 2004!)

 

R.E. The John Waite - Ignition, I have the original Chrysalis re-release version on CD (with a different sleeve) and being a big fan of the chap I was ummmimng and ahhhing about buying the Rock Candy one. Is the remastering any good, is it from the original masters or is it a spruced up copy taken from vinyl??

 

PLEASE REPLY NOW (sorry couldn't resist...plus it's the 1st time I've ever done it!)

 

BTW I like the Rock Candy sleeve ... which incidentally is the original vinyl sleeve.

You know I'm not sure about that, it says: Remastered in 2005 by Jon Astley for Close To The Edge mastering. Sound shaped from 24 bit digital tools via POW-r.

 

So it sounds to me like they may have taken the analog and digitally spruced it up, sounds pretty good to me either way but I am no audiophile by any stretch...

 

I do like the original vinyl cover as well, that's the one I got at home in fact, leaning up against my stereo rack.

Hahaha Cheers Pete....sad isn't it...I bought the CD years ago and wouldn't part with my vinyl as I preferred the cover too. I might have to invest in the RCandy version in the new year!

Hmm - I haven't bothered getting the Rock Candy version as yet as I got the One Way 2 on 1 re-issue from a few years back, along with most of the Babys back catologue. Don't know how it sounds in comparison, but all the Rock Candy stuff has sounded great so far. Great album though.
