What CDs did you buy this week?

I got a few CDs thru the post yesterday & I have never been so disapointed.

I got two Lee Aaron CDs,"Slick Chick" & "Beautiful things" and they were terrible!

Not terrible in a musically bad way,but terrible in the way she has completely turned her back on her fans!

I had heard she'd got a few jazz influences in her new material, but I'd call it more than a "few" influences!

There is no guitar but plenty of ivory tinkling etc!

If you like jazz, its fine, but if you like Lee Aaron you will probably be severly disapointed!

I'll not be playing these again!

Lee Aaron's real name is Karen Greening. She lives in the Kitsilano part of Vancouver. When I saw her new CD in my local music store's flyer, I was curious as to how she would sound since 1991. I do agree with you on turning her back on her fans using the name "Lee Aaron" and playing jazz. IMHO, she is misleading her original fans. In the mid 1990's, she dropped her "image" and switched to jazz with a new name and that's what she should have stuck with if she wanted to play jazz. Thanks for letting us know, Captain.

I bought the 2Preciious CD a few weeks ago & on that she is listed as Karen not Lee Aaron but its still rock music,ok so its more of a modern sound, but its rock!

I fully agree that it was obviously a nasty marketing ploy switching back to her old stage name to trick older fans into buying the new albums!

She shoulda released them under her real name!

White Lion-Remembering White Lion

I truly hate that album. I bought it without paying enough attention and was expecting to get some of those fine tunes from their early albums only to find it was Mikey remaking the songs as generic rock 'n' roll tunes with a totally different bunch of musicians.... gak... :puke:

Just my opinion of course...still have the CD (I never throw anything away...).

;) Just to let everyone know that I have destroyed ALL my Cd's except Pride of Lions, Legs Diamond, Van Stephenson, Mecca, Survivor and ShadowKing.

I can no longer accept any other form of music except AOR.

Well it's a small price to pay for musical nirvana (not the Seattle kind...), don't you think? ;)

I feel cleansed!! And to be fair there are only 20-30 true AOR albums that can be rightly called classic-and I have them so financially I will be rewarded also, not having buy false AOR albums in the future (LOL) :tsk:

The two pawn shops in town are both getting out of the cd business so unfortunatley I will be finding no new suprises in either one :( . However, they are selling their remaining items for next to nothing so today I picked up a variety of genres:

Michael Stanley Band - Stagepass (never heard these guys but I read this is a good live album)

Neil Diamond - His 12 Greatest Hits

Neil Diamond - 12 Greatest Hits Volume II

Deadeye Dick - A Different Story

and...

Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass - Classics Volume 1

The Brides is just God-awful, IMOHO. Hope you didn't spend much $ on it. I really wanted to like it, but it's just butt-puckeringly bad.

I didn't know there was a remaster of Cherry Pie or Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich. I'll have to see if I can score those, too.

I downloaded a bunch of the songs months before they were released & some were great, some werent,so I know what to expect!

As for Warrant,I wasnt aware of the re-release til I saw them all over ebay!

Thankfully I got them so cheap that I dont mind having to rebuy CD's I already own!

That was one of the two songs that stood out on first listen (the other being When ya gonna break my heart).

Need to give it a few more listens when I can crank it up (its late here & peeps are in bed) to truly get a feel for it.

Best thing is though,it pretty much what I expected which is always good!

Yeah, I'll admit The Bride have a few good ones on there. I did just buy the Warrand DRFSR remaster at BB- only $12! Plus I got the Whitesnake double disc remaster with Slide It In, Whitesnake & the one after that. Cost $25, but should be well worth it. Other purchases:

Loverboy- Lovin' Every Minute of It

Chastain- Ruler of the Wasteland (on E-bay, I looked for this one for 15 years!)

Platinum Blonde- Alien Shores (also E-bay, searched since '87!)

Warrior- Fighting For The Earth.

Bought but hasn't arrived yet:

Vicious Rumors- Soldiers of the Night

Raven- Stay Hard (reissued at last!)

:banger: I got Jorn lande-Out to Every Nation today.

I loooove it-it is heavy AND melodic. The sound is a little rawer than previously but the class shines through.
