Gibbo
Dio and Maiden for me ... although it was a close run thing, what with Y&T, Priest and Mercyful Fate all having albums in the list ... Saxon's 'Crusader' is by far and away the worst thing they've ever recorded ... *shudder* ...

heaven&hell
No votes for Armored Saint March of the Saint. I was just playing that one the other day and while the production was lacking there are some great metal songs on there.
FredGarvin
WASP-S/T Judas Priest-Defenders Of The Faith Those were my picks as well, but damn what a year! Lots of classics released in '84.

MetalPete1031
Choose between 'Stay Hungry', "Out of the Cellar", "In Rock We Trust", "Last in Line", "Love At First Sting" ??!! aiiiiieeeeee carumba!! Are you mad? And then "Balls to the Wall", "Defenders of the Faith"?? Not to mention Metallica, Black n Blue...ugh. I can't do it. Mullethead
Here's the 1984 Poll as promised. You can really see a difference in what was going on in the U.S. compared to the rest of the World. There was more Hair Metal in America and much more Traditional/Power Metal coming out of Europe. With the influence of the Thrash Metal scene started by Metallica and Slayer I'm sure the next couple of polls will have more bands of that style. This is the hardest poll for me by far. The U.S. bands make this very hard and picking between Maiden and Priest in 2nd part is tough also. U.S.: 1)Queensryche- The Warning 2)Dio- Last in Line 3)Metallica- Ride the Lightning 4)Fates Warning- Night on Brocken 5)Dokken- Tooth & Nail U.K/Europe/Canada: 1)Judas Priest- Defenders of the Faith 2)Iron Maiden- Powerslave 3)Accept- Balls to the Wall 4)Scorpions- Love at First Sting 5)Yngwie Malmsteen- Rising Force This was tough but a Ratt was perfect as was TNT. Those were my votes.

gener8tr
Oh boy... 1984 was so great. From the list above, I'd go with WASP or RATT, but I could easily choose a hundred more. Such an awesome year. No listed (not really metal), but certainly one of my favorites.... LOVE AT FIRST STING. EDIT... My bad... LAFS is listed... duh! So great.
