  1. SO I spun it and it is a well crafted and played tune, but it just seemed phoned in to me. I hummed a few bars and then zoned out and then it was over. Probably good music to do focused work to as it wont distract.
  2. I too was apprehensive as well. But color me pleasantly surprised and impressed. Good song. Nice and dirty, heavy and still holds that southern fried hard rock vein they captured on their S/T. This tune is obviously drop tuned, which had me worried in the beginning and still could easily be an Alice N Chains b-side, but again they still sound like EMN. I like the intro bit as it was very similar to Walls Come Down which I am sure was intentional as an homage and tie together of old and new EMN. QUite looking forward to hearing more.
  3. Yea the Blossoms, obviously were a little southern fried and incredibly pop oriented but boy what talent and song craftsmanship. At that time No Doubt was nobody. The Just a Girl track was just getting heavy radio play however and obviously a year later they were a household name. I still am floored by Better Than Ezra. Again a certified pop rock band, but boy could they play. I still remember them doing a cover Aretha Franklins Natural Woman and it was insane. They were also one of the few bands that milled about with the masses, as again they were little known at the time with just the one notable tune Good and it was nice seeing them, chatting them up and seeing their respective glee in seeing the other bands and of course being recognized. I'd imagine a bigger crowd than most had seen prior to that point.
  4. Saw this band at a show in the pacific NW called "Endfest". It was an all day sucker/festival put on by the local alt radio station KNDD 107.7 The End, the year was 1995. Along with the wheel, who were pretty solid and they had a few spinners on the radio at the time so they were well received, a number of bands played on 2 stages, main and side. Bush headlined. Korn played on the side stage as they were not yet huge. Everclear, Better Than Ezra (one of the best of the bands by far, so fucking talented), Supersuckers, Gin Blossoms, Mary Lou Lord, Face to Face, The Violent Femmes, James, Presidents of the United States of America, No Doubt, Throwing Muses, The Damnbuilders, Hagfish and Super Deluxe. (There ma be a few others that are lost to the annals of time). Besides Better than Ezra, The Gin Blossoms (another fave who I have seen 3 times) and Face to Face were bad ass. There song Make Some Sense To Me of the Big Choice album is still a fave. Of course Everclear were just getting traction with their Heroin Girl track and of course being from Portland made them pretty well known even before they to imploded. TPUSA were not quite infamous yet either but Lump was in heavy rotation in Seattle at the time so they were riding the wave. Hagfish is a great band too if your not familiar. Great looong day of tunnage and a son of bitch of a drive but worth it.
  5. All big hits and amazing to see. My fave is that soft NFL though and the shellacking the 20 year Ju Ju Smith-Shuster laid on Vontez Burfect. 5 seconds along and Ju Ju actually tea bags him, its brilliant and payback for the hit Burfect provided Antonio Brown, which cost the Bungles the championship. The announcers and everyone were lambasting Ju JU for the hit but if you watch it was clean, of course the afterbits were not so much.
  6. "Biggest" hit is questionable but, Tesla's Little Suzy. Judas Priests Green Manalishi
  7. I am. Haven't spun it in a bit but I did buy a 2nd in case anyone needed one.
  8. Last I heard after he went to Arizona to help James Gebbia "sell some cd's". James being the nice guy he was (RIP) let a truckload of cd's drive away (obviously all the cherry picked rarities) never to be seen again. Around the same time I heard he was going through the big D and I don't mean Dallas, so maybe ripping off your "friend" was his way of coping. One can only hope he is stricken by guilt and/or being haunted by the ghost of Staryder1.
  9. Even though it good enough, 1987 was so flooded with bands like this I am sure the pompous A&R pricks paid no mind to a female fronted band as that too was not kool. And who knows she could have suffered from LSD (lead singers disease) and burnt their bridges before they were built.
  10. Thursday is opening day and I for 1 need the distraction of fanless football. I'll watch as much as I can if I can find that euro site that hosts all the games on the downlo... And lest not forget how Big Ben will get his 3rd Superbowl win and make his 4th Superbowl appearance this year...
  11. That was fun. I like the Hear N Aide covers, I posted a million years ago. I wish the dude that made this took an extra 20 minutes and put names and such into the video clip as it was going instead of waiting to the end as I have no idea whos who and what name goes with what person by them all piled up at the end. And that poor sap with the gold top Les Paul didn't even get his solo synch'd up. And that lone gal who was reading the cue card for her part as if "But singers and songs can never change it alone" is a tongue twister...
  12. Awesome. MILF Steel Panther. And yep, all day long... When I first read the title and saw the middle aged ladies I thought it said "Hot Flash". https://www.facebook.com/hotflushrock/ https://www.hotflushrock.com.au/
  13. Sure there are plenty Cinderella isn't one of them by far. Armored Saint Enuff Z Nuff (pre-breakup, yep even 1985 and peach fuzz and and and) Metal Church (even after the Reverend left us) Junkyard Spread Eagle (yes even the new one is good, but mostly the S/t and Open to the Public) Nelson Marvelous 3 ZO2 Prot!en KIX (fucking Duh) Kings X (yep even Ogretones and Tapehead) Saxon The Dwarves (No argument or I'll "Fuck You Up and Get High") I am sure I can think of more if my discs were in front of me for enjoying.
  14. 2 immediate bans right there. That S/T Hags disc is quintessential. I'd say I wish they had more material but as many know the heroin got the best of them. Lightning in a bottle on that self titled though. And besides they got a 1 album deal on Chrysalis for fucks sake. It wasn't like they got a 10 album deal on Geffen or Sony or something.
  15. Now if I would have posted this you all would have farted in my mouth, lol... Its alright indeed and you can get the physical cd for just 12 bux. https://www.facebook.com/laciviolett https://laciviolett.com/
  16. Don and Chip need to bury the hatchets in each others respective backs and just make music together like the almighty told them too as both their latest stuff is missing that oomph that can only be had by the pair. Its like sex without the climax, sure its fun but what is the point then? As for the 3 songs herein they aren't as horrible as you all are on about but again one without the other makes them seem lackluster.
  17. Sigh. If that Out in the Open song is any indication of the rest than hard pass. Butch, I get it your cool and hep or hip or whatever but cmon dude. Get the marvies back together and make a fucking rock record! As I was typing the solo came up on the Out in the Open song and now that was a nice outtro, guess just skip ahead and listen to the last 40 seconds...
  18. Glad the MT boys got some love in my absence. This one just arrived so it will be my comeback review, so it should be an easy one based on the samples.
  19. Good stuff by a good band. The EP is still the best but you get that on the 1st album anyways...
  20. My daughter is moons over MCR, Gerard Way and lets not forget Frank Iero. As I was getting my life back in order my kids took me to see Frank in Portland, their first concert and my daughter was in her happy place finally...
  21. That new music is stupidly on point and amazing sounding, just like John's voice which is as excellent as ever. Recently watched this and you should to. The set list is nice and how can you not end a AS show without Can U Deliver!: I remember the 1 and only time I saw AS live. 150 years ago. At the Moore Theatre in Seattle, WA. They supported another fledgling metal band supporting an album that was starting to get some airplay. AS was touring for their epic March of the Saint record and they were ridiculously good. All decked out in their leathur and me at 16 right up front getting and giving high fives metal hugs and noogies from Dave Prichard and the rest of the gang. They opened for Metallica btw, who where supporting their best album to date Ride The Lightning. And yes we witnessed greatness in the Cliff Burton...
  22. Neat. I always liked the Fozzy covers as much or more than the original songs and Jericho's voice is actually getting better and better. Where's RIch? Thanks for sharing Cap.
  23. Thanks for posting this. I hadn't heard of it and in listening to it the chops are all there and I really like it. Can I have it as I'd rate it much higher.
  24. That was eerily period specific. I enjoyed it. Wish I could say the same for that Preacher show. tried the first season and it fell flat for me.
