Although, I'm now listening to AOR's 2 discs and now Crossfade doesn't seem SO bad. Man, I just can't enjoy this stuff at all. IMO, this is truly awful. I don't know how to describe songs this bad...

Geoff - The Crossfade IS an excellent disc if you appreciatee the Westcoast stuff. Same with the AOR discs. Knowing what you generally like, I can see why you wouldn't appreciate them.

Yeah, I wish I'd listened to these before when you did that thread a while ago on the difference between AOR and melodic rock, because this is it here. The style of songwriting is a whole different genre/type, so far removed from the melodic hard rock I listen to. I can honestly not handle the 2 bands above.

 

I think they've got more in common with jazz or something like that than it does with hard rock or what I consider good AOR like Outside Edge or Outland or something. Which I'm not saying is a bad thing if it's your thing, but personally not for me at all. I could hear a lot of pop/boyband sort of similarities in that Coastline one too, and this is just songwriting under scrutiny. Musically, it's no "heavier" than recent backstreet boys either. Yeah, really, really not my thing sorry.

 

Oh well, to each their own.

 

Had a gap, but still listening to Disturbed now. Not into their early stuff, but starting 'Ten thousand fists' to see if I like this. Not a great start...

I just got this one. There seems to be a problem with the last four tracks not playing properly. As for as the music on the first eight tracks, it is better than I expected after reading several unimpressive reviews. I really didn't like the second track though after only one listen.
